NEW REPORT: ARAB JOINT LIST ILLEGALLY PROMOTING DRAFT DODGING by Arutz Sheva Staff Members from the Joint Arab List are violating the law by supporting and encouraging youth not to enlist in IDF service, according to a new report published by the pro-Israel watchdog Im Tirtzu. The report comes ahead of the Supreme Court hearing today, Thursday, which will discuss the petition filed by the Likud and Otzma Yehudit parties to disqualify the Joint List from running in the upcoming elections on grounds of supporting terrorism. According to Im Tirtzu's report, members of the Joint List have explicitly transgressed Section 109 of Israel’s Penal Code, which states that a person is liable to five years imprisonment if he or she “incited or induced a person liable to service in an armed force not to serve in it or not to report for a military.” The report cites various instances in which members of the party supported or encouraged youth to not enlist in the IDF, including party head Ayman Odeh, who as recently as last month uploaded a Facebook post in support of draft-dodging. "I just left the house of 18-year-old Maya Feigenbaum who decided to refuse to enlist and not to partake in the occupation regime that controls millions of Palestinians in the territories," wrote Odeh on Facebook. "There was so much awareness and morality in 18-year-old Maya's consciousness when she announced: I am refusing to enlist! [Refusers] are our partners and together we will build a just future." Also last month, Joint List MK Ofer Cassif – himself a draft-dodger – also uploaded a post in support of draft dodging. "Meet the brave refuser Maya Brand Feigenbaum, who arrived at the draft center to declare her refusal to enlist in the occupation army," wrote Cassif. "Be strengthened and encouraged Maya, we are with you." Other Joint List members named in the report as having taken part in events encouraging draft-dodging are MK Yousef Jabareen, MK Aida Touma-Suleiman, and MK Osama Saadi. Tom Nisani, head of Im Tirtzu's Arab Desk that compiled the report, said that the report is "a wake-up call to the radical elements that are tearing up Israeli society from within." "Enforcing the law and disqualifying the Joint Arab List are the proper steps needed to stop this phenomenon," continued Nisani. "The time has come that these inciters sit in jail rather than in Knesset." 2. POLL: LIBERMAN LOSES SEAT AFTER VOTE-SHARING AGREEMENT by Arutz Sheva Staff The Likud party would win the most seats with 31 if elections were held today, a new poll showed. The Blue and White party would finish a close second with 30 Knesset seats. According to the poll, which was conducted by the Midgam Institute and published by Walla, the right-wing and haredi parties do not have enough seats to form a coalition by themselves, but Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beyteinu party has weakened by one seat compared to previous polls. The poll also found that Yamina party chairman Ayelet Shaked was not harmed by reports in the Haaretz that she had offered to intervene with the attorney general on Prime Minister Netanyahu's behalf in return for a spot in the Likud party. The Yamina party is holding steady at 11 Knesset seats. United Torah Judaism and Shas would win 8 and 7 seats respectively. The right-wing bloc, without Yisrael Beyteinu, would receive 57 seats in total. The left-wing bloc would receive 54 seats. The Joint Arab List would receive 11 seats, Democratic Union 7, and the Labor party 6 seats. The Yisrael Beyteinu party fell from 10 seats to 9 in the wake of the vote-sharing agreement with the Blue and White party, but remains strong enough to prevent any side from forming a coalition. The Zehut and Otzma Yehudit parties do not cross the electoral threshold. 3. MY DEAR CONFUSED SOLDIER by Itamar Segal Again Betzalel Smotrich blew a fuze. This time in his sights: Gender-mixed fighting battalions. These, he says, dull the IDF's competence, and he is right. The goal of promoting women is of course welcome, but their introduction into a tank does not promote them. It is important to promote women, but what can you do? This isn't the IDF's role. They should deal with that in the Knesset, in court, in civil society organizations, and what not. Not in the IDF. It's just dangerous, it's already been written in blood. Incidentally, the female fighters who enlist in the IDF probably give it their all. They make efforts, they try, and for that they deserve respect. They came to give. They certainly don't deal in or wish for the weakening of the IDF. But it's dangerous. Not just because of the lowering of the level of training, marches, and loads. This is especially dangerous because it is inconceivable that an intensive care emergency physician would stop treating patients according to the severity of their condition for the benefit of women or minority advancements. It's beautiful, exciting, maybe important, but it's not his job, and it's dangerous, and very irresponsible. The IDF has a very simple role, none is clearer: Destroy the enemy, and that's it. No painting benches, no paving roads, no helping Eritreans, or even social enterprise or women's promotion. When dealing with this, it necessarily comes at the expense of the main thing, distracting and confusing fighters. Lectures on equality, liberality, and inclusion are good, but none of them will be useful at the moment of truth. On the day of war and on the battlefield, only the combatant's skill, fighting spirit, his faith in the rightness of his path, courage, and, yes, the knife between the teeth. And in recent years, the fighter reads the newspaper, watches TV, looks at his senior commanders, the content put out by the Education Corps and the IDF Spokesman, and it is unclear to him what the role of the IDF is. Apparently, our dear IDF occasionally sheds off the dusty olive uniforms, wears a civilian suit, and promotes civilian values of equality, women's promotion, LGBT, and whatnot. It should be noted honestly that the current Chief of Staff Kochavi seems to be changing the trend. But the long-term damage has already been done. Furthermore: Women's organizations, such as the Women's Lobby, and the wealth of New Israel Fund organizations, act on this issue as a mole. They trumpet girls' ability to fight, but do not at all hide that a part of their goal of advancing women in the IDF, including in combat units, stems from the belief that the entry of women into the military and combat system will lower the level of "male warrior cruelty" and promote the sought-after peace. For them, promoting women and equality is worth endangering lives, and is more crucial than the value of winning wars, which is already very dangerous. To me, there is a clear line that, although out of sight, connects a host of disgraceful incidents in the various terror attacks in Judea and Samaria in which fighters forgot their task in the moment of truth, as in the recent incident of Golani fighters in Gaza who did not charge a single terrorist, and the confusing atmosphere prevailing in the army in relation to its purpose, in relation to the enemy, in relation to the Land of Israel and the People of Israel, and this is dangerous. I recently spoke to many battalions from the Gaza Strip. They are confused about commands and tasks. First they scold them for shooting higher than the knees, being careful about every hair on a Hamas terrorists' head at riots on the fence, and then they chew them out because they didn't engage the enemy sufficiently. Now here, it's easy to write this. But outside, in the general media, people are afraid to talk. They are tired of catching flak, preferring the comfort zone. A few single voices make noise, and life proceeds dangerously as usual. There is only one brave one with elephant skin, who saved our lost honor. Minister Smotrich must have the skin of an African elephant, there's no other way to explain it. If he wasn't a politician, he would certainly be fighting with a knife between his teeth. Translated by Mordechai Sones 4. ABBAS: 'WE'LL ENTER JERUSALEM AS MILLIONS OF FIGHTERS' by Mordechai Sones 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267752 Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said in an address at the Jalazun Refugee Camp near Ramallah that the "Palestinians" cannot be removed from their homeland and that every building built by the Zionist occupation will be destroyed and thrown in the garbage bin of history, reports the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). In the video, uploaded to to Abbas' Facebook page on August 10, he claimed that the "Palestinians" are the Canaanites who have lived in Palestine for 5,000 years, and he rejected the conferences in Warsaw and Manama as unacceptable to the "Palestinian people". He said that Jerusalem belongs to the "Palestinians", and the audience began to chant: "The Jerusalem we march, martyrs by the millions!" Abbas continued, saying that the entire Palestinian nation will enter Jerusalem as millions of fighters, along with the Arab, Islamic, and Christian nations, and he said that he rejects the designation of "Palestinian" martyrs as terrorists. He added that the families of "Palestinian" martyrs, injured people, and prisoners will continue to receive salaries from the PA because they are the most sacred thing the "Palestinians" have. 5. 'WE WILL NOT SIT WITH ARAB PARTIES IN GOVERNMENT' by Arutz Sheva Staff Blue and White MK Yoaz Hendel responded Thursday morning to MK Odeh’s declaration whereby the Arab Joint List does not rule out support for a Gantz-Lapid coalition. “Blue and White will establish a broad and state-oriented nationalist unity government,” Hendel said. “We respect the Arab citizens of Israel and see them as citizens entitled to all rights, but we will not sit with the Arab parties, which fundamentally deny the existence of Israel as a Jewish state. Period.” Earlier, Joint List Chair Ayman Odeh told Yediot Aharonot that he is ready to enter a coalition of Center/Left parties after the elections if Blue and White and the other parties meet a series of basic requirements regarding Israeli Arabs and the political process. Odeh's statement of willingness marks a historic change because Arab parties have always stayed out of the coalition and government. 6. IDF ATTACKS TWICE IN GAZA by Elad Benari 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267727 IDF fighter jets attacked a number of terror targets at a Hamas naval facility in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday night. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said the attack was carried out in retaliation to the rocket fire on southern Israel earlier in the evening. Shortly after the Israeli air strike, around 1:00 a.m., another rocket was identified as having been launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that as a result of the fire, an alert was activated only in the open area. Around 4:00 a.m., IDF fighter jets attacked several other terrorist targets belonging to Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said the attack was carried out in response to the second rocket attack from Gaza. "The IDF will continue to act against attempts to harm Israeli civilians and considers the Hamas terrorist organization responsible for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip," it said. On Wednesday evening, terrorists from Gaza fired one rocket into Israeli territory. A siren was sounded in one of the communities in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. The rocket exploded in an open area. No physical injuries or damages were reported. Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz responded to the rocket attack, "Again a Red Color siren, again the children in the south are in protected spaces. [Hamas leader] Sinwar sets the agenda - and Netanyahu has lost confidence and wiped out Israeli deterrence. On September 17, we will give Hamas two options: Total quiet and returning our boys or total quiet and returning our boys through military force.” 7.
