1. TERROR ATTACK FOILED IN HEVRON
by Kobi Finkler

A terror attack was foiled outside of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hevron Tuesday afternoon, a day after a similar attack was carried out nearby.

The terrorist, a 17-year-old Palestinian Authority resident, approached the entrance of the Tomb of the Patriarchs Tuesday, while carrying a knife concealed on his person.

After the terrorist set off a metal detector at the entrance, Israeli Border Police officers stationed at the entrance ordered him to remove any items he was carrying in his pockets.

When the metal detector was again set off despite the terrorist having emptied his pockets, Border Police officers instructed him to lift up his shirt, so that they could verify that he was not carrying a concealed weapon.

But the terrorist refused the order, instead drawing the knife he had concealed and lunging at several Border Police officers.

Officers on the scene pointed their weapons at the terrorist and were ultimately able to take him into custody without opening fire.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

"The officers managed to prevent an apparent attempt to sneak the knife into the Cave of the Patriarchs and carry out a stabbing attack," a Border Police spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon.

"The officers' alertness and rapid response brought a quick end to the incident, with no injuries."

The terrorist was placed under arrest and transferred for interrogation.

On Monday, an Arab terrorist stabbed an Israeli soldier in Hevron, between the Israeli neighborhood of Avraham Avinu and the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

One soldier was lightly wounded in the attack, and was treated at the scene by emergency medical teams before being evacuated to the hospital for further treatment.

The terrorist was shot and killed at the scene.

2. KUSHNER: TRUMP IS A REALLY GREAT GRANDFATHER TO MY KIDS
by David Rosenberg

[youtube:2048647]

President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner opened up about his time in the White House, as well as his children's relationship with their grandfather, during an interview with CNN Monday.

Speaking with CNN's Van Jones in a wide-ranging interview in New York City, the president's 37-year-old son-in-law spent most of the 45 minutes discussing policy issues, ranging from criminal justice reform to the US' relationship with the Saudi government following the death of a dissident journalist at the Saudi consulate in Ankara recently.

The talk did stray from policy, on occasion, however, touching on personal matters involving Kushner's wife, the couple's three children, and his family's relationship with President Trump.

Kushner said that while the 'challenges' of having both his wife and himself working full-time in the White House were 'big strain' on the family of five, Ivanka was able to make the balance between professional and family life.

"Anyone with Ivanka would be a 'power couple'. She's really amazing. When we started dating, I told her that if I wasn't so attracted to her, she would be my best friend.

"Ivanka's brilliant… Working together has given me an even greater appreciation for how effective she is with everything she does.

"It's obviously challenging enough having one parent working in the White House; having two parents in the White House is a big strain, obviously for the family, but she does a great job balancing it.

"The kids, they've been great about it too."

Kushner also lauded President Trump's relationship with his children and grandchildren.

"He's a great father to his children and a really great grandfather."

"We work very long hours in the White House and early on my kids would come over to visit me for dinner some nights when I'd be staying late and he heard that they were there and I didn't bring them by and he said, 'What's going on?' So every time they're there I make sure I bring them by the office."

Kushner also detailed how Trump enjoys pampering the grandkids with treats Ivanka doesn't give them at home.

"He has a little candy drawer where he knows how to makes sure they get stuff their mom won't let them have. He really loves his family and he gets a lot of pleasure out of that."

3. JERUSALEM-TEL AVIV TRAIN LINE HIT BY NEW WAVE OF CANCELLATIONS
by David Rosenberg

The newly-opened Jerusalem-Tel Aviv high-speed train line continues to suffer from technical malfunctions and maintenance delays, less than a month after the line's inaugural run.

On Tuesday morning, two departures were cancelled amid technical malfunctions in two separate trains.

The rail line, originally slated to open on March 30th, was inaugurated on September 25th, though only the Jerusalem-Ben Gurion segment – linking the capital with Israel's largest international airport – is currently operational. Passengers heading to Tel Aviv must transfer at the airport.

Since its opening, the line has suffered from numerous technical problems and delays in installing maintenance and monitoring equipment, forcing multiple train cancellations.

Earlier this month, a Jerusalem-bound train stopped mid-journey, and was stuck inside a tunnel for well over an hour. Another train halted following a power failure on the tracks.

Days after these two incidents, Israel Railways was forced to cancel four train departures.

Under fire for the line's repeated failures, last week Transportation Ministry Director Keren Terner explained the decision to open the new train line last month, despite the fact that work was not yet completed, Hahadashot reported.

"The project had already been delayed by months, it could be delayed for years, and if we don't push to stick to the [opening] date for the train, it could have taken another 15 years."

On Tuesday, the high-speed Jerusalem-Tel Aviv train line ran with limited service, after two trains set to depart from Jerusalem's Yitzhak Navon Station were found to be malfunctioning.

The technical problems reduced the frequency of trains Tuesday morning to just once every hour.

4. PM MEETS CHINESE VP: 'MOST IMPORTANT CHINESE VISIT IN 18 YEARS'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara on Monday welcomed Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan at the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem, where he signed the guestbook.

"Welcome to Israel. This the most important visit by a Chinese leader in the last 18 years," Netanyahu told the Chinese VP. "It's a sign of our growing friendship. The fact that the Vice President of China came to Israel at my invitation for the Prime Minister's Innovation Conference is a tremendous compliment to Israel and a reflection of the growing ties between China and Israel. And I look forward to our discussions."

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Chinese Vice President Qishan – who is the most senior Chinese official to have visited Israel in the past 18 years – then held a working dinner together with their entourages.

Present for the Israeli side were: Prime Minister Netanyahu, Economy and Industry Minister Eli Cohen, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, National Security Council Director Meir Ben-Shabbat, Prime Minister's Office Acting Director General and head of the Prime Minister's staff Yoav Horowitz, National Economic Council Chairman Avi Simhon, Israeli Ambassador to China Zvi Hefetz and other senior officials.

Present for the Chinese side were: Vice President Qishan, Science and Technology Minister Wang Zhigang, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Yucheng, Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming, Chinese Ambassador to Israel Zhan Yongxin and other senior officials.

Chinese Vice President Qishan arrived in Israel earlier today with a delegation of minister and deputy ministers from approximately 13 ministries for an official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister and the Chinese Vice President will chair the fourth meeting of the Israel-China Innovation Conference in a G2G format at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, 24 October. Eight joint agreements are due to be signed at the conference in science and technology, life sciences, innovation, digital health and agriculture. The Prime Minister and the Chinese Vice President will sign the conference's new multi-year plan. The innovation conference meets annually alternatively in Jerusalem and Beijing and – inter alia – advances cooperation between government officials from Israel and China, joint projects involving the private sector, joint research in science and industry, and grants scholarships for Israeli and Chinese students.

The Chinese Vice President will also be the Prime Minister's guest of honor at the Prime Minister's Innovation Conference. The two will also dedicate the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.

5. WATCH: RACIST TIRADE ON LONDON FLIGHT GOES VIRAL
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2048635]

A dispute which developed into a racist tirade on a recent flight to London drew international attention, after footage of the incident went viral on social media outlets.

During the incident, an elderly black woman returning home to the UK from a vacation abroad was harangued by a fellow passenger who was trying to reach his seat next to the woman.

The incident occurred on Ryanair flight FR015 from Barcelona Airport to Stansted Airport in London on Monday, October 15th.

While the matter drew little attention at the time, days later a third passenger, who identified himself as David Lawrence, publicized footage he had taken of the dust-up.

In a Facebook post Friday afternoon, Lawrence released the video and criticized Ryanair's inaction during the incident.

"RACIST MAN REFUSES TO SIT NEXT TO ELDERLY BLACK WOMAN on Ryanair flight calling victim an UGLY BLACK BASTARD and Ryanair - DOES NOTHING!!!"

As passengers boarded the flight, 77-year-old Delsie Gayle took her designated seat by the aisle.

Another passenger, who was assigned a seat by the window in the same row as Gayle, asked her to stand up so that he could take his seat.

According to Gayle's daughter, however, her arthritis made standing up and stepping aside for the other passenger difficult, and Gayle took time to let the fellow traveler take his seat.

Rather than take the delay in stride, the male passenger launched into a tirade against Gayle. When Gayle's 53-year-old daughter tried to defend her mother, the passenger began hurling racial epithets.

I don't care whether she's f***ing disabled or not – if I tell her to get out, she gets out," the passenger said, calling Gayle an "ugly black bastard".

"Don't talk to me in a foreign language, you stupid ugly cow," the passenger continued, after he heard Gayle muttering in response to his attacks.

Ultimately a Ryanair crew member intervened and the flight took off as scheduled, despite initial concerns that the incident could necessitate the removal of the disruptive passenger.

But Gayle criticized the airline's response to the abusive harassment she suffered, noting that she was forced to change seats, while the male passenger stayed in his original seat.

"I feel very low. He paid a fare to go on holiday, I've paid mine, so why does he abuse me for that due to the color of my skin? He do it with me and he gets away, he'll do it to somebody else," Gayle told ITV News.

Local police said in a statement that they were investigating the incident in conjunction with Barcelona authorities.

"This incident, which we were made aware of yesterday morning, is believed to have taken place on a plane at Barcelona Airport. Essex Police takes prejudice-based crime seriously and we want all incidents to be reported. We are working closely with Ryanair and the Spanish authorities on the investigation. We would encourage anyone with information to contact us."

6. JORDAN CANCELS PART OF PEACE AGREEMENT WITH ISRAEL
by Nitsan Keidar

In a dramatic move, following a mass demonstration in Amman, Jordanian King Abdullah announced that he has decided not to extend a part in the 1994 Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty which leases regions of the Arava and Naharayim to Israel.

These are areas which Israel ceded to Jordan in the 1994 agreement. However, Jordan agreed to lease the areas to Israel so that Israeli farmers there could cultivate the land. An addendum to the agreement stipulated that the areas would be leased out for 25 years, and either party could decide not to extend the agreement with a year's advance notice.

Now, 24 years after the agreement, Jordan officially announced that it would not be extending the lease.

An official announcement was made about the move in Amman, and an identical notice was sent from the Jordanian embassy to the Israeli foreign ministry in Jerusalem.

It should be noted that recently, relations between the two countries had actually improved, with a meeting also held between Abdullah and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. This followed a period of sour relations in the wake of the incident in which an Israeli security guard at the embassy in Amman shot and killed two people after one of them tried to attack him.

7. IDF REVEALS ANOTHER HEZBOLLAH POSITION UNDER AGRI ORG AUSPICES
by Mordechai Sones

The IDF has revealed another Hezbollah position under the auspices of the "Green Without Borders" agricultural front organization.

"Hezbollah violates Resolution 1701 on a regular basis, operating in the area south of the Litani River, using civilian camouflage and reinforcing military capabilities in the rural areas of the Shi'ite villages in violation of UN resolution," the IDF said.

Hezbollah uses Green Without Boundaries as a front for operations in the contact zone and establishes observation posts for gathering information about IDF troop movements.

In the past year, the IDF has been closely monitoring Hezbollah observation posts located along the contact zone under Green Without Borders Association auspices.

Hezbollah forward observation posts revealed by IDF
IDF Spokesman
In 2017 five positions were exposed, and an additional one has now been exposed aimed at deepening the terror organization's intelligence and strategic picture.

"This is a violation of UN Resolution 1701 at the end of the Second Lebanon War," says the IDF.

"Resolution 1701 states the presence of any armed group is prohibited except for the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River. The Hezbollah terrorist organization regularly violates this Resolution, advances on the fence while armed, attacks Israeli territory, and establishes military infrastructure near the border, all under the guise of a fictitious environmental association. In addition, it bases its military capabilities in Shiite villages in southern Lebanon.

"Hezbollah acts as one who thinks the IDF is unaware of its activities, prevents UN forces in the area from inspecting these positions, claiming it is a private area and thus preventing any scrutiny of the violation of Resolution 1701.

"The IDF regularly monitors Hezbollah activities as it has shown recently, and is aware of this activity and of other activities," the IDF Spokesman concluded.

8. REPORT: TRUMP WILLING TO 'GET TOUGH' ON NETANYAHU
by Gary Willig

US President Donald Trump stated that he was willing to 'get tough' on Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel's Channel 10 News reports.

The president reportedly made the statement during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last month.

According to Channel 10 News, Macron raised the issue of the Arab-Israeli peace process and was critical of Trump for putting pressure on Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas while failing to put pressure on Netanyahu.

Trump's predecessor, former President Barack Obama, was accused of taking the opposite approach and applying pressure only on Israel to make concessions while giving the Palestinian Authority a free pass.

Trump responded that he is willing to put pressure on Netanyahu to get his peace plan presented in the coming months.

According to four diplomats who witnessed the meeting, Macron told Trump: "My impression is that Netanyahu does not really want to move forward in the peace process because he likes the status quo."

Trump reportedly responded: You know, Emmanuel - I'm very close to reaching the same conclusion."

"I was tough with the Palestinians because they would not talk to us and that's unacceptable. I gave Bibi a lot, I transferred the embassy to Jerusalem and every year we give them $ 5 billion, you know, Emmanuel - I can be tough with Bibi [about the peace plan], like I was tough with the Palestinians."

A senior White House official told Channel 10 News in response: "The president believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu is committed to trying to reach a comprehensive and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians."
