REPORT: 3 KILLED IN ISRAELI STRIKES IN SYRIA by AFP and Arutz Sheva Staff Israel air strikes near the Syrian capital overnight killed two from the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah and one Iranian, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said Sunday. "The Israeli raids targeting Iranian and Hezbollah posts... in the southeast of Damascus killed at least three people -- two from Hezbollah and a third who was Iranian," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said. Last night, the IDF confirmed it had carried out multiple strikes against Iranian targets outside Damascus following Intelligence that Iran was planning to launch armed drones at northern Israel. The strikes targeted Iranian Quds Force operatives and Shiite militias which were preparing to advance attack plans targeting sites in Israel from within Syria over the last few days. The thwarted attack included plans to launch a number of armed drones intended to be used to strike Israeli sites. "The IDF is prepared to continue defending the State of Israel against any attempts to harm it and holds Iran and the Syrian regime directly responsible for the thwarted attack," an IDF statement said. 2. MANHUNT FOR DOLEV TERRORIST CONTINUES by Arutz Sheva Staff 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267833 The IDF, Shabak (Israel Security Agency), and Israeli Police forces continue to pursue the terrorists who on Friday carried out a terror attack near Dolev, southwest of Ramallah, the IDF said. The attack left 17-year-old Rina Shnerb dead, and wounded her father, Rabbi Eitan, and her brother, Dvir Haim. The terrorists, who used a homemade explosive device, escaped the scene in a car. Investigators are still working to determine whether the terrorists threw the explosive device at the Shnerb family, or planted it on the path near them. As part of the ongoing pursuit, the troops apprehended a number of suspects and transferred them to security forces for further questioning. Earlier on Saturday, Commanding Officer of the Judea and Samaria Division Brig. Gen. Eran Niv and Commanding Officer of the "Efraim" Regional Brigade Col. Yiftach Norkin assessed the situation together with senior Shabak officials. 3. IRAN DENIES ITS FORCES WERE ATTACKED IN SYRIA by Arutz Sheva Staff A senior Revolutionary Guards official denied Sunday that Israeli air strikes damaged Iranian targets in Syria. At the same time, the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah claimed that an Israeli UAV fell in Beirut and that another exploded. "It's a lie," said Mohsen Reza, a Revolutionary Guards official, "Israel and the US do not have the strength to attack Iranian bases, and none of them have been harmed." The IDF stated earlier that it had carried out multiple strikes against Iranian targets outside Damascus following Intelligence that Iran was planning to launch armed drones at northern Israel. The strike targeted Iranian Quds Force operatives and Shiite militias which were preparing to advance attack plans targeting sites in Israel from within Syria over the last few days. The thwarted attack included plans to launch a number of armed drones intended to be used to strike Israeli sites. 4. US STATE DEPARTMENT REMOVES ALL MENTION OF PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY by Arutz Sheva Staff The US State Department website has deleted the Palestinian Authority from the list of countries and areas on its website. Until recently, 'Palestinians' appeared on the site under the name 'Palestinian Authority' and before that the 'Palestinian Territories'. Over the past year there has been a significant devaluation of the Palestinian status on the US side, with the State Department ordering to remove any reference that included the word 'occupied territories' in reference to the Palestinian Arabs. Now the very existence of a Palestinian Authority is not present on the official website representing the US State Department. 5. CONDITION OF BOMBING VITIMS IMPROVES by Arutz Sheva Staff Dr. Akiva Nachshon, a senior physician in the general intensive care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, provided an update on the condition of Rabbi Eitan Shnerb and his son Dvir, who were injured in a terrorist bombing attack on Friday. "The condition of Eitan, the father, is good. It is defined as light currently. He will be taken for surgery in the next few hours," Dr. Nahcshon said. "The son's condition has also improved, and is now defined as mild to moderate. He should also be taken for surgery in the next few hours. Rabbi Shnerb's daughter Rina was killed in the terrorist attack at the Ein Bubin spring, which the family had visited on Friday. Earlier, Rabbi Shnerb said that his daughter had been killed instantly. "She was peaceful and we could say goodbye to her. It took a long time for them to get to us. I said that the best thing to do with be to use the longest tzizit tassle as a tourniquet to stop Dvir's bleeding. In the ambulance we were told that was what saved him. Obviously, G-d saved him. Rina absorbed all of the explosion to save us." 6. ISRAEL THWARTED IRANIAN ARMED DRONE ATTACK by Arutz Sheva Staff IDF fighter jets recently targeted a number of terror targets in Aqraba, Syria, southeast of Damascus. The IDF has confirmed multiple strikes against Iranian targets outside Damascus following Intelligence that Iran was planning to launch armed drones at northern Israel. The strike targeted Iranian Quds Force operatives and Shiite militias which were preparing to advance attack plans targeting sites in Israel from within Syria over the last few days. The thwarted attack included plans to launch a number of armed drones intended to be used to strike Israeli sites. "The IDF is prepared to continue defending the State of Israel against any attempts to harm it and holds Iran and the Syrian regime directly responsible for the thwarted attack," an IDF statement said. Roi Kais, Arab Affairs Correspondent for Channel 11 News, quoted a statement from an official Syrian military source: "At 11:30p.m. the surface-to-air systems identified enemy targets [moving] from the direction of the Golan towards the Damascus area. We immediately gave the order to attack with excellent precision. So far, most of the Israeli missiles have been destroyed before reaching their targets." Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded: "With great effort, we thwarted an attack by the Iranian Quds Force operatives and Shiite militias against Israel. I will repeat: Iran does not have immunity anywhere. Our forces work against Iranian aggression in every region: 'If someone rises up to kill you, kill him first.'" "I have directed that our forces be prepared for any scenario. We will continue to take determined and responsible action against Iran and its proxies for the security of Israel." 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267848 7. BREAKING: RINA SHNERB, 17, MURDERED IN DOLEV-AREA TERROR ATTACK by Chana Roberts 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267808 Magen David Adom (MDA) personnel were forced to declare the death of Rina Shnerb, the 17-year-old young woman injured Friday in a terror attack near the Binyamin-region town of Dolev. Three people were injured in the attack, which occurred at the Ein Bubin spring near Dolev when a terrorist threw an explosive device at Israeli hikers. She will be buried Friday afternoon in the new cemetery in her hometown of Lod. Her father was moderately injured in the attack, while her 20-year-old brother suffered serious injuries. The terrorists who threw the explosive device escaped the scene and are being hunted by the IDF. IDF forces are chasing a suspicious vehicle which escaped the scene and is believed to be the vehicle of the terrorists who threw the explosive device. The possibility that the explosive was a grenade thrown at people hiking in the spring is also being investigated. Israeli Prime Minister and Defense Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is receiving constant updates regarding the intelligence and operational efforts to capture the terrorists who carried out the attack, and will hold security meetings with top Defense Ministry officials. Ein Bubin is also called "Danny's Spring," after Danny Gonen, a Lod resident who was murdered there several years ago by a Palestinian Authority terrorist who had requested water. 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267808 [album:open:11294] 8. CHECHNYA INAUGURATES 'EUROPE'S LARGEST MOSQUE' by Sara Rubenstein A huge mosque was inaugurated in the Russian region of Chechnya on Friday in an official ceremony. The mosque, named after the prophet Mohammed, is located in Shali, a town near the regional capital of Grozny. The impressive-looking mosque, decorated with marble, can hold more than 30,000 people. Chechen officials say it is the "largest and most beautiful" mosque in Europe and that the grounds of the mosque, adorned with flowers and fountains, can hold another 70,000 people. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said the mosque is "unique in its design and majestic in its size and beauty." Kadyrov, an ally of Putin who was appointed by him to rule in Chechnya, has supported a resurgence of Islam in Chechnya. In 2008, he inaugurated the "Heart of Chechnya" mosque in Grozny. | |
