1. POLL: LIKUD LEADS, LIBERMAN OUT
by Arutz Sheva Staff

A survey conducted by Prof. Camil Fuchs and published Tuesday evening on News 13 reveals that if the elections were held today, the Likud would win 29 seats, the most of any political party.

The Blue and White party would finish a close second with 28 seats while the Labor party would be a distant third with 14 seats.

The United Right would win seven seats. Hadal-Talash, United Torah Judaism, and Zehut would receive six seats each.

The New Right, Shas, Joint Arab List-Balad, and Meretz parties would win five seats each, while Kulanu would just pass the electoral threshold with four seats.

According to the poll, the Yisrael Beiteinu party led by Avigdor Liberman would not receive enough votes to clear the electoral threshold and would not have any representatives in the next Knesset.

In addition, 46% of respondents said that Binyamin Netanyahu is most suited to be prime minister, while only 38% said that Benny Gantz is most suited for the position.

2. THE RIGHT COULD LOSE POWER, WARNS EX-MINISTER AHEAD OF ELECTIONS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Former Education Minister Gideon Saar (Likud) warned that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the ruling Likud party face a difficult election next week, hinting that the center-left Blue and White party could win the premiership if the Likud's base fails to turnout in high enough numbers.

Speaking at a conference hosted by Maariv Wednesday, Saar said that the Likud's return to power in 2009, following a term headed by a Kadima-led government, had led to a dramatic strengthening of Israel's economy, security, and geo-political prestige and influence. That progress, Saar warned, would be in jeopardy should the Likud lose power after next week's election.

"Recently, Israel has enjoyed a wide-range of positive political developments, relating to the close ties between Trump and Netanyahu."

"With all of the challenges over the past decade, we've experienced the quietest decade since the establishment of the state. Economically, there have been improvements by every measure and index. That's the reality. The question now facing Israeli citizens is whether to continue forward, on the path that strengthens Israel, or to go backwards to the bankrupt approaches of the past."

"We are now facing a period of major challenges – and also opportunities. The opportunities are related to our strengthening political position, and our relationship with Washington. The question is who knows how to face our challenges and solve them. A right-wing government led by Netanyahu, or a left-wing one led by Lapid and Gantz? A team of our best and most experienced, or a hodge-podge group [of candidates] with no connection to each other?

While polls show the Likud rising relative to the Blue and White party, cutting the Blue and White's average lead from five seats in early March to a single seat, Saar warned that the Likud could be denied the premiership if its base fails to turnout in full.

"If there isn't a large vote for the Likud, the question of whether we will be given the opportunity to form the next government will be left with a big question mark."

An 18-year-old Israeli woman from Tel Aviv who hurled a tomato at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during a tour of a Tel Aviv market Tuesday was detained by police for questioning Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister visited the Hatikva Market in Tel Aviv, to rally supporters ahead of next Tuesday's general election.

As Netanyahu toured the marketplace, a young woman hurled a tomato at the premier, in an incident which was captured on camera.

After police identified the young woman responsible, officers detained her for questioning Wednesday, before releasing her, with restrictive conditions.

Blue and White chief Benny Gantz condemned the incident Tuesday, saying Israel "needs unity, not violence."

4. BENNETT: EVERY VOTE FOR FEIGLIN BRINGS THE BULLDOZER CLOSER
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Education Minister Naftali Bennett, who also chairs the New Right party, attacked Zehut leader Moshe Feiglin at the Jerusalem Post's 2019 election conference.

"I call upon most of the Feiglin voters, the young people of religious Zionism: There are six or eight behind Feiglin, form both Left and Right," Bennett said, adding that Feiglin is "like Raful [Rafael Eitan], who put in people like Gonen Segev and destroyed our home."

"Every vote for Feiglin brings the bulldozer closer to your home. It will be a vote you regret casting.

"Now a new generation has sprung up who didn't know the old Feiglin - but it's the same old Bess in a new dress."

Bennett also promised that if he serves as Defense Minister, he will bring quiet to southern Israel.

"People think that there is nothing to be done about Hamas," he explained. "Generations of defense ministers and generals with 117 and 217 years of experience have been explaining to us that there is no solution."

"The first thing I will do as defense minister will be to restore quiet to the south. It will take a few months but we know how to do it. In a very sophisticated air operation, we will not bring in soldiers if there is no need. I promise that we will restore security to the residents of the south for decades to come. This is not a decree of fate, whatever we are told."

5. BRITAIN CONDEMNS TRUMP'S GOLAN RECOGNITION
by Elad Benari

Britain's Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt on Tuesday condemned US President Donald Trump's recognition of the Golan Heights as sovereign Israeli territory, the Jewish News reports.

Answering questions in the House of Commons on Tuesday morning, Hunt did not shy in criticizing the Trump White House for breaking the international consensus for not recognizing sovereignty over land seized during war.

Hunt made British policy clear in response to a question from Conservative grandee Sir Nicholas Soames, who said it was "a matter of the greatest regret that our allies, the United States, are in clear contravention of UN Resolution 497."

Soames said Trump's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan was illegal because "annexation of territory is prohibited under international law" and asked Hunt to "condemn unreservedly this breach of the rules-based order."

Hunt said he was "absolutely happy to do that," adding, "We should never recognize the annexation of territory by force… that has been one of the great achievements since the founding of the United Nations."

The foreign secretary added that he condemned Trump's actions "with a heavy heart" because Israel was also "an ally and a shining example of democracy in a part of the world where that is not common… We want Israel is to be a success and we consider them to be a great friend but on this we do not agree."

Trump last week signed a proclamation recognizing Israeli sovereignty of the Golan Heights which was liberated by Israel from Syria during the 1967 Six Day War. Israel annexed the Golan Heights in 1981, in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.

As expected, the move was met with condemnation from the Arab world, with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait all saying that the Golan Heights is "occupied Arab land".

Iran, which is the regional rival of all these states, joined in on the criticism as well.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused Trump of "colonialism" in the wake of the Golan move, saying, "Nobody could have believed that a man would come in America and unilaterally and against all international laws and regulations give away a land belonging to one country to an aggressor."

Syria accused Trump of "blatantly attacking" its sovereignty with the decision and also vowed to recover the Golan Heights in the wake of Trump's declaration.

The criticism was not limited to the Arab world, as the European Union blasted the move as well and said it regarded the Golan Heights as "occupied territory".

6. IRAN COMMITS 'MAJOR CYBER ASSAULT' ON UK INFRASTRUCTURE
by Mordechai Sones

Sky News reports Iran committed a wave of cyber attacks targeting key parts of Britain's national infrastructure in a major assault last December.

The report says private sector companies, including banks, were also compromised in what they describe as an "ongoing" campaign.

The National Cyber Security Centre said it was "aware of a cyber incident affecting some UK organisations in late 2018" and that it was "working with victims and advising on mitigation measures".

Analysis by cyber security experts cited by Sky concluded that a group connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was responsible for this attack and an attack on the parliamentary network in 2017.

Sky says the mobile phone numbers of at least 10 peers and MPs were among the compromised data.

7. HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT: UN CONDEMNS ANTI-SEMITISM
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The UN General Assembly convened a special session on Tuesday to adopt a resolution condemning hate crimes.

In its original version, the proposal only referred to Islamophobia, but after a diplomatic effort led by Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, with many UN states, the proposal was changed and condemned anti-Semitism as well.

Danon said, "It seems that the memory of history is fading over time, but the diplomatic effort that we have led has shown that we will not allow the international community to remain silent while a wave of anti-Semitism spreads throughout the world."

"Unfortunately, we return to the days when kippot and Stars of David are targets, including marked Jewish businesses and desecrated synagogues," added Danon.

"This is an Israeli achievement at the UN and a crushing loss to the forces of hatred. However, it is very unfortunate that we should have fought to include anti-Semitism in the draft resolution. I remind the world that denying the right to self-determination of the Jewish people in its land and being anti-Israel is no different from being anti-Semitic. "

"The time has come for the world to channel its power to act uncompromisingly against hatred and anti-Semitism and to stop ignoring the forces, both inside and outside the corridors of the United Nations, who seek to harm these efforts," concluded Ambassador Danon.

Jewish Home Chairman Rabbi Rafi Peretz, who leads the United Right party's joint list, responded Wednesday morning to the attempted stabbing attack in Samaria.

In the attack, a terrorist attempted to stab a young girl However, the girl's father, who was driving her to school at the time of the attempted attack, shot the would-be terrorist, neutralizing him.

No injuries were reported among Israeli civilians or security personnel.

"The terror attack and attempted murder of a Jewish family this morning in Samaria is the direct result of Israel's policy of accepting ongoing terror," Rabbi Peretz said.

"The father's immediate response...saved lives and sends a clear message: We're here to stay. Anyone who tries to murder Jews is a dead man. It's time to move from acceptance to attack, from avoidance to sovereignty."
