1. SHIN BET: MURDER OF ISRAELI TEEN WAS TERROR ATTACK
by David Rosenberg

An Israeli teenager found brutally murdered in a Jerusalem forest last week was apparently the victim of a terrorist attack, Israeli investigators said Sunday evening.

The Shin Bet internal security agency said Sunday night that based on statements made by the terrorist during interrogation, authorities now believe that the motives for the murder were nationalistic.

"During the course of his interrogation, [the terrorist] reenacted the murder for Shin Bet and police interrogators, and clearly tied himself to the incident," the Shin Bet said.

Last Thursday night, 19-year-old Tekoa native Ori Ansbacher's remains were found in the Ein Yael forest, near the Biblical Zoo in southern Jerusalem.

Police found signs of violence on Ansbacher's body, suggesting she had been assaulted, then stabbed to death.

Over the weekend, authorities announced that a 29-year-old Palestinian Arab, Arafat Arafiah, was arrested in El Bireh, near Ramallah, in connection with Ansbacher's murder.

Arafiah later confessed to the murder, and reenacted it for police.

According to a report by the Shin Bet, which has cleared few details of the case for publication, last week, Arafiah left Hevron with a knife in his possession. After having reached southern Jerusalem, he spotted Ansbacher in the forest.

Ansbacher had apparently left a youth center where she had worked following an argument, seeking some time alone.

Arafiah spotted Ansbacher in the forest, and murdered her there, before fleeing.

2. ELI YISHAI: RIGHT-WING COALITION WOULD WIN 8-10 SEATS
by Shimon Cohen

The political hourglass is running out as discussions on unification of right-wing parties seem weary. Arutz Sheva spoke with Yachad Chairman former Minister Eli Yishai about his assessment of the chances of unification and what alternatives lie ahead.

On progress likely to be made in the talks on the Right, Yishai says he "very much hopes they'll advance, because soon there'll be nothing to argue and quarrel about. Every day that passes is to our misfortune. Everyone has to put his ego on the side, move forward, and be flexible. Whatever issues need closure will eventually get closure."

Yishai believes "the potential for a large Right bloc is at least 8-10 seats with good and proper work." However, he says, time is passing and chances of making such an achievement are waning. "At the moment, Jewish Home and National Union are busy closing. I very much hope today it will happen, then they'll have time to move to other parties."

As for Yishai himself, he has one or two options, "but I look at the proper and best thing that is a right-wing bloc, which is all in danger. Mina Tzemach's last survey gives me 1.4, Otzma 1, Jewish Home and Tekumah together 2.5, so requiring everyone to 'hang together or hang separately'. Everyone knows that in the background there's the Trump program, to whom we have extraordinary love, but if Netanyahu has no choice and makes a coalition with Gantz as he did with Lapid, it will really be dangerous."

As for Benny Gantz's views, Yishai believes he is indeed a Leftist. "There's no doubt his platform and plans are dangerous to the Land of Israel."

Yishai was also asked if he saw an alternative to joining the Likud, perhaps as a haredi party within the ruling party. Yishai disregards the question and says in his opinion the most appropriate move is to unite where there is a broad common denominator - that is, the four right-wing parties that he believes would have already reached 8-10 Knesset seats. "I hope we'll succeed in keeping up with this pace, we have to understand what's best for Israel."

3. NATIONAL UNION, OTZMA YEHUDIT NEGOTIATIONS END
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Otzma Yehudit factions rejected a proposal to run together with the National Union party on Monday.

National Union Chairman Bezalel Smotrich had proposed that the fifth and eighth slots on the party's list for the Knesset be reserved for Otzma Yehudit.

Sources in Otzma Yehudit "the National Union wants to receive the votes of 'Otzma' and not to bring the party's representatives into the Knesset. Otzma Yehudit continues to prepare for an independent run. "

The National Union said in response: "We will not deal with spins. We will continue to be responsible for full unity in religious Zionism and on the entire right. "

5. CHELSEA CLINTON SLAMS ILHAN OMAR FOR PEDDLING ANTI-SEMITISM
by Ron Kampeas, JTA

Days after a series of apologies for an old tweet seen as echoing anti-Semitic themes, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said AIPAC paid politicians to be pro-Israel, a falsehood that drew immediate rebukes.

Omar on Sunday responded on Twitter to a threat two days earlier by Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to take action against her because of her past statements on Israel by saying, "It's all about the Benjamins baby", a reference to $100 bill featuring Benjamin Franklin.

Her seeming implication that McCarthy was attacking her at the behest of the pro-Israel lobby was made clear with her subsequent response to a tweet by Batya Ungar-Sargon, an editor at The Forward, who tweeted, "Would love to know who @IlhanMN thinks is paying American politicians to be pro-Israel, though I think I can guess."

"AIPAC!" Omar replied.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee does not contribute to politicians, although its donors give money to political campaigns, in the same way that an array of activists backing distinct interests across the political spectrum have for decades donated to campaigns. Omar raised over $1 million for her freshman campaign last year, including from unions and from Emily's List, a group that seeks increased participation by women in politics.

"We are proud that we are engaged in the democratic process to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship," it said in a statement. "Our bipartisan efforts are reflective of American values and interests. We will not be deterred in any way by ill-informed and illegitimate attacks on this important work."

Omar's remarks drew immediate rebukes, including from Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former president Bill Clinton and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. "We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism," Clinton said.

Clinton and Omar later agreed to speak on the telephone on Monday.

Rep. Max Rose, D-N.Y., a Jewish freshman, posted a statement on Twitter calling Omar's comments "deeply hurtful to Jews, including myself."

Omar recently apologized for a 2012 tweet in which she accused Israel of "hypnotizing" the world, acknowledging that she had unwittingly echoed anti-Semitic themes. McCarthy's call to discipline Omar, apparently for the 7-year old tweet, came after she apologized.

7. TERRORIST REENACTS MURDER OF JEWISH TEENAGER
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The terrorist suspected of murdering 19-year-old Jewish teenager Ori Ansbacher on Thursday at Ein Yael near the Jerusalem zoo, this morning reenacted the murder for investigators at the scene.

At the same time, IDF forces this morning surveyed the suspect's home in Hevron for the purpose of examining the possibility of demolishing it.

The interrogation of the terrorist in the Shin Bet revealed that on Thursday morning the suspect, Arafat Arfaya of Hevron, left his home in Hevron with a knife and made his way toward the village of Beit Jala.

He walked toward the forest, where he noticed Ori, attacking and murdering her.

The rest of the details of the investigation are under gag order.

Tomorrow, the suspect is to be brought for a remand hearing.

8. NO UNITY: RABBIS TO GATHER IN JERUSALEM FOR EMERGENCY MEETING
by Mordechai Sones

Rabbis representing religious Zionism were invited to an emergency conference to be held tomorrow at 16:00 at the Ramada Hotel in Jerusalem, in light of the lack of progress in negotiations between the Jewish Home and National Union parties.

The rabbis will call on party leaders to enter one room and not to leave "until white smoke emerges", in the words of the organizers.

The emergency conference will be held on the backdrop of Jewish Home Chairman Rabbi Rafi Peretz's decision to refuse an equal run with the National Union. National Union Chairman MK Betzalel Smotrich suggested Peretz head the united list and allow the National Union to choose the senior portfolio entering a future coalition.

Rabbi Peretz agreed to the proposal last Friday, but decided on Saturday night to renege. In Jewish Home they're considering the possibility of receiving seats on the Likud list for the Knesset or running on an independent list, a move which, according to all polls, is likely to fail in view of Jewish Home's dismal situation in the surveys.

"On Thursday and Friday, I held a long personal dialogue with Jewish Home Chairman-elect Rabbi Rafi Peretz, with the aim of reaching an agreement and signing a joint run by the two parties in the upcoming elections on the basis of equality and joint leadership," Smotrich said Saturday night.

"And indeed, without intermediaries and advisors - and after significant concessions on my part to quickly close the joint run, we were able to reach full understandings before the start of the Sabbath. In this framework it was agreed that Rabbi Peretz would be placed first on the list and the National Union would be given the right to choose the first government position. They call it equality.

"Unfortunately, at the end of the Sabbath, Rabbi Peretz informed me that after consultations he held with his associates, he decided to withdraw from the agreement to an equal base and joint leadership - and return to the opening position that the Jewish Home is the senior partner and we are the house guests. Therefore, negotiations at this stage have reached a dead end."

Smotrich stressed that "out of responsibility, I intend to continue to do everything to reach a broad list of all elements of religious Zionism and the right wing even if it seems that at this time the possibility of joining the Likud as a surplus is seen as more appealing to Jewish Home members."
