1. NETANYAHU'S MILITARY SECRETARY REPRIMANDED
by Arutz Sheva Staff

IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot reprimanded Prime Minister Netanyahu's military secretary for failing to relay the prime minister's order to halt the evacuation in Amona on time.

During the meeting, Eizenkot made it clear to Brigadier-General Avi Blut that he is expected to act in a more professional manner in the future. The IDF said that Blut recognized his mistake and will act differently in the future.

Blut had passed the prime minister's instructions only in the morning when the violent evacuation had already begun. In clashes between opponents of the evacuation and the security forces, 23 policemen and three residents were injured.

Netanyahu was slammed by a number of lawmakers on Friday for sending the decorated officer for a disciplinary hearing. Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid and former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman both accused the prime minister of letting an IDF officer get the blame for a politically-damaging move during an election period.

"Netanyahu is again trying pin responsibility on the IDF and its commanders. He is the prime minister and defense minister and he ordered the evacuation of Amona," said Lapid on Friday.

"His attempt to evade responsibility at the expense of the military secretary is typical of Netanyahu, but it is shameless even for him."

Avigdor Liberman, meanwhile, said that Netanyahu's move to blame Blut for the demolition was "despicable".

"The prime minister's shameful attempt to put the blame on the evacuation of Amona to his military secretary, Brigadier-General Avi Blut, is at the least despicable, and it is impossible to avoid seeing this as an evasion of responsibility and a desperate attempt to search for a scapegoat," wrote Liberman on Facebook.

2. MUSLIM CONGRESSWOMAN: 'WE'RE GOING TO IMPEACH THE @#$%'

Promising to "impeach the @#$%#@", new Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib delivered a speech bashing President Trump following her swearing in.

Tlaib's profanity-laced tirade came during an event held by the MoveOn progressive organization. Recalling a conversation she had with her son, who told her that "Look mama you won- bullies don't win," Tlaib said that she replied "You're right, they don't. And we're gonna go in and impeach the [expletive]". (Arutz Sheva will refrain from publishing the obscenity due to the severity of the swear word.)

Tlaib, who won Michigan's 13th Congressional District, is joined by Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota in becoming one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.

Omar has in the past called Israel an "apartheid regime". In 2012, she said that Israel had "hypnotized the world" to ignore its "evil doings."

She also sparked controversy for saying after being elected that she supported the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel, after saying during her campaign that it was "counteractive" and prevents dialogue.

3. KULANU MK: REPORTS WE WILL RUN WITH LIKUD ARE FALSE
by Tzvi Lev

Kulanu MK Roy Folkman, a senior lawmaker in the faction, denied that his party was discussing a possible merger with the Likud.

"The Likud is in a state of hysteria and is constantly spreading lies about unifying but I say unequivocally that all of us will continue to be a completely independent faction," said Folkman at a conference in Eilat.

Folkman added that Prime Minister Netanyahu should be forced to resign if he is indicted by Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit.

"No one is above the law," Folkman said, adding that "every prime minister, not just a prime minister, can not be in the morning at a meeting of a Knesset committee and at noon in court. "

Regarding former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and his new 'Hosen L'Yisrael' party, Folkman said that "the time has come for the public to turn away from the new messianic phenomenon. The public should choose politicians based on actions, not image."

Reports this past week said that Kulanu leader Moshe Kahlon was debating whether to run together with the Likud party. Recent polls show Kulanu, which won 10 seats in 2015, falling to between five to seven mandates.

5. EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT: WE'RE WORKING WITH ISRAEL AGAINST ISIS
by Elad Benari

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is confirming that his military is working with Israel against terrorists in North Sinai.

Sisi made the comments in an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes", which will air in full on Sunday and of which excerpts were released on Thursday.

Asked if this cooperation with Israel was the closest ever between the two countries, he responded, "That is correct…We have a wide range of cooperation with the Israelis."

Egypt has been fighting an insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula for several years. Most of the attacks in the region during this time period have been claimed by the Sinai Province, Egypt's Islamic State (ISIS) affiliate.

In February, Egypt launched operation "Sinai 2018" in an effort to rid the Sinai Peninsula of Islamic terrorists.

The peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979 imposed strict limitations on Egyptian deployment in the Sinai, and any Egyptian incursion in the Sinai requires coordination with Israel.

In recent years Israel has notably permitted the Egyptian military to boost its presence in the peninsula several times as it fights the insurgency by the local ISIS affiliate.

Last year, The New York Times reported that Israel has launched air strikes against ISIS targets in northern Sinai with Egyptian approval.

The report, which cited US and British sources, claimed Israeli aircraft attacked targets in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula over 100 times in two years.

Egypt's military spokesperson later vehemently denied the report, insisting it was not "credible" and adding that the Egyptian army is the sole entity that is conducting military operations in co-operation with local police forces in certain areas in North Sinai.

Although Egypt became the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979, their ties have been formally cold at times, and Egypt's political elite has remained hostile to any normalization of ties with Israel.

Ties appear to have improved under Sisi, who took power in 2013 after the army ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Sisi has in the past urged Israelis and Palestinian Arabs to seize what he said was a "real opportunity" for peace and hailed his own country's peace deal with Israel. He repeated his call for a resumption of peace talks between Israel and the PA last September.

6. IRAN SENDING WARSHIPS TO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN
by Tzvi Lev

Iran announced that it will send warships into the North Atlantic Ocean in a move that is sure to stoke tensions with the United States.

According to Reuters, Deputy Navy Commander Touraj Hassani said that the armada would set out for the Atlantic in March. "The Atlantic Ocean is far and the operation of the Iranian naval flotilla might take five months," he said.

The flotilla is expected to include three warships bristling with weapons, including anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles.

The announcement comes amid tensions between the US and Iran after President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions on Iran.

Last month, Iran's navy said it acquired two new mini submarines designed for operations in shallow waters such as the Persian Gulf. The two Ghadir-class submarines have sonar-evading technology and can launch missiles from underwater, as well as fire torpedoes and drop marine mines, Iranian media claimed.

Iran often boasts of its military accomplishments, but the veracity of those claims is unclear. In December, a commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards threatened US bases in Afghanistan, the UAE and Qatar, as well as US aircraft carriers in the Gulf. These bases, he said, are within range of Iranian missiles which have a range of 700 km (450 miles).

The same official, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, claimed last year that Iran is in possession of what he described as the "father of all bombs" - a domestically-made 10-ton bomb with a high destructive power.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also said recently Iran should increase its military capability and readiness to ward off enemies, which many took as a threat to the United States.

7. $16,000 FLIGHTS SOLD FOR $675
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Cathay Pacific Airlines accidentally sold first class airline tickets from Vietnam to New York at a 96% discount.

Due to an error, tickets that usually cost $16,000 were sold for only $675.

"Happy 2019 all, and to those who bought our good - VERY good surprise 'special' on New Year's Day, yes - we made a mistake but we look forward to welcoming you on board with your ticket issued. Hope this will make your 2019 'special' too!" the company wrote on Twitter.

"Yes, we have made a mistake," the company agreed, "but we are waiting for the moment when we can host you on deck with the ticket sold to you. We hope this will make 2019 special for you too!"

The airline did not answer reporters' questions about the number of tickets sold at the discounted price, before making the mistake.

8. UNPREDICTABLE TRUMP: IS THE US PRESIDENT REALLY GOOD FOR ISRAEL?
by Jay Shapiro

[audio:2051983]

US President Donald Trump claims he has the real deal to settle our problem with the Palestinians. He also said that the delay in presenting it means there is no deal.

Jay Shapiro claims that the deal maker isn't perfect, as much as the deal itself. In his opinion Trump has only one interest - and it's not have a connection to Israel.
