1. 'CEASEFIRE, BUT NO NEGOTIATIONS WITH HAMAS'
by Nitzan Kedar

The Likud is still trying to preserve the narrow government, but at the same time, the names of new players are being raised for the upcoming elections.

One of the names being discussed is that of name of Minister of Construction and Housing Yoav Galant. He has been named as a potential candidate in the Likud primaries, which is expected to run with the support of Prime Minister Netanyahu, and perhaps as a candidate of the defense portfolio from the next government.

"I am a member of Kulanu and a minister on its behalf, and I will remain in this situation as long as it depends on me," he says in an interview with Besheva. "I have never concealed that in my political and security positions I am closer to Likud's positions, and I feel that I am not the only one in the Kulanu party in this situation."

Does the role of Defense Minister appeal to you?

"I devoted my entire life to the security of the state. I joined the naval commando unit 42 years ago, served 35 years in the army, and shortly after I was released I entered the political arena. I have been sitting in the cabinet for the past four years. In the end I am a soldier in the service of the people of Israel, and what the public will impose upon me, I will do, whether I achieve this goal or not.

The head of your party, Minister Moshe Kahlon, estimates that the coalition of 61 will not survive for more than two or three months.

"My position is that government stability is very important, and if it is possible to create continuity and to make the elections take place on time in accordance with the law in November 2019, [that is what we should do]. This is the preferred situation, even if there is some difficulty in passing legislation, and I do not think it will fall as a result of these decisions. Of course, there is a certain probability that we will not reach this date, but overall, in my opinion, stability has great value.

This position does not contradict the opinion of your party chairman, who is talking about elections in February?

"The beauty of the democratic system is that everyone can express his opinion and opinion - while on the other hand, when a decision is made in a qualified body, then both those who agree and those who disagree, support the matter, because otherwise there is chaos. This is what is good of the state.

The northern front is more worrying.

"Everything that happens in the north has the potential to be a war, and everything that happens in the south is actually a big operation, even if it's called a war," said Galant. "There is no comparison between the intensity of the danger from the north, including its potential to light things bigger, and the Gaza situation, in which Hamas is a very aggressive enemy - but also very weak."

"Hezbollah is ten times stronger than Hamas, so the implications are far-reaching, especially since Hezbollah is just an Iranian proxy," he said. "In fact, the Iranians are creating a reality in which they spread over the Middle East. Hezbollah has also taken a similar role in Iraq and has taken control of large parts of the region for the Shi'ite Arabs. In fact they are making a big effort to take control of Syria under Russian air support. They are working on precision missile factories in Lebanon and at the same time trying to create a broad and deep front in Syria. So in the future we will deal with an enemy that is deployed from the Mediterranean to the Yarmouk River with great depth on one united front, which is very dangerous."

Galant believes he knows what Iran's next aspiration is. "When you look at a regional perspective, it is clear that Iran's next target will be to cause the collapse of Jordan, because it is already surrounded by the increasing control of the Shi'ites around it. The Shi'ites see Jordanians as inferior and a foreign plantation in the area. If Jordan collapses, we will have a border here from Eilat to the Sea of Galilee with attempts to cross it. Such attempts could begin in Tehran and Baghdad, pass through Amman and reach Israel, without anyone stopping them before they reach our border, and this has far-reaching consequences for our conduct in holding the territory."

Is it possible to prevent war on the northern border?

"To make a realistic assessment of the situation, we should look into our faces and look at them. Anyone who directs a hundred thousand missiles at Israel does not mean good, and does not aim them at Turkey or Syria, but rather at Israel. In my view, war is the last option, but on the other hand, one can not rely on the intentions of the other side but rather have to look at its capabilities If he has the capability, we have to achieve an offensive and intelligence capability that will provide an answer. "

In other words, as far as Israel is concerned, the problem is first and foremost Iran.

"When the Iranians say, 'We intend to destroy the cancerous tumor called Israel,' as I put it, I take them seriously. I do not underestimate and learn from past experience, and especially from the experience of the Jewish people .

In light of the recent battle on the Gaza border, the question of restraint also arises. Galant is realistic and not optimistic about preventing a significant conflagration against Hamas in Gaza within the foreseeable future.

Can we avoid a war on the Gaza border?

"I think that we will reach a broad battle in Gaza, and this is a matter of time, and I hope that this will not happen soon, but that too is possible, But we cannot determine the timing or the conditions. I have no doubt that the end of the last act, like the last few months, is something we can not accept.

Did Israel act correctly when it sought a cease-fire, and did not otherwise act to strike Hamas more severely?

"Basically, there is no such situation as the firing of one rocket into Israel or the sending of a single Molotov cocktail, which is a challenge to our presence, no less than an act of terror, yet you do not always answer immediately when you have different reasons and priorities "If we reduce things to those 48 hours, it would not have ended, but if we look at the overall process of the last ten years, we are going to narrow Hamas' legs, and we will come back for them later. I repeat that Yahya Sinwar will not end his life in an old-age home.

So yes to a ceasefire, but no to negotiations with Hamas?

"In terms of a cease-fire, there is someone to talk to, because the other side has a lot to lose, and there is someone to talk to, even if through a third party, because they need food and fuel.

"When you look at the long term and ask what is the problem with this conflict with the Palestinians, the answer is that this is a problem going back 100 years that there is no partner or leadership on the Palestinian side. Some of them have dreams, and they think that in the end they will succeed in subjugating the Jews and taking their country. After all, those who demonstrate on the fence do not say that they want to improve the situation in Jabalya and Rafah, but that they want Jaffa, Haifa and Jerusalem. That they will never accept[our existence. There is no partner on the Palestinian side in the sense of someone who can make a courageous decision and say 'there is a strong and prosperous Zionist entity here that is stronger than we are.'

2. FORMER TRUMP LAWYER: I LIED TO CONGRESS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Former lawyer to US President Donald Trump plead guilty on Thursday to giving false testimony to Congress about a real estate project in Russia.

The confession was made as part of a plea bargain Cohen signed with special prosecutor Robert Muller, who is investigating suspicions of Russia's illegal involvement in the 2016 presidential election.

According to the AP, Cohen unexpectedly arrived at the federal court in Manhattan and gave his confession.

In August, Cohen plead guilty in a separate confession to eight criminal offenses related to tax fraud, prohibited contributions to political candidates and the making of a false statement to an economic institution. He will be sentenced in about two weeks.

Two of the offenses are related to his work with Trump. Cohen claimed that he paid money to women in 2016 on Trump's orders to silence their claims about relationships with him.

3. IRANIAN AIRLINE NOW FERRYING WEAPONS DIRECTLY TO BEIRUT
by Tzvi Lev

In a highly irregular move, a 747 packed with Iranian weapons destined for Hezbollah flew directly from Tehran to Beirut's Rafic Hariri Airport on Thursday.

According to reports, a 747 registered as EP-FAB, took off this morning at 8:02 am from Tehran to Beirut on flight QFZ9964 and landed in Lebanon at 10:19 am.

The plane was operated by Fars Air Qeshm, an aviation company owned by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps to ferry weapons to Hezbollah. According to the website Intelli Times, the plane carried equipment to convert Hezbollah's rocket arsenal to precision missiles capable of hitting sensitive sites within Israel.

Iran's Fars Air Qeshm airline has long been accused of flying arms for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the elite Quds force led by Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleiman. Last year, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on the IRGC and Quds force.

The airline had ceased operations in 2013, citing poor management, but restarted under new management in March 2017. It is said to have two Boeing 747s in its fleet. Among the members of the company's board are three IRGC representatives, named in the report as Ali Naghi Gol Parsta, Hamid Reza Pahlvani and Gholamreza Qhasemi.

While Iran has invested considerable efforts to transfer advanced missiles to Hezbollah, it commonly flies from the Islamic Republic to Syrian air force bases, making the flight path highly irregular.

Western intelligence has already tracked two similar flights within the past few months. In September, Fox News reported that a Boeing 747 that departed from an air force base in Tehran, stopped for a short layover at the international airport in Damascus, Syria, and then continued with a rather "uncharacteristic flight path" to the Beirut international airport, where it landed shortly after 4:00 p.m. local time.

According to flight data obtained by Fox News, the route passed over northern Lebanon, not following any commonly used flight path.

A regional intelligence source who asked to remain anonymous told the news network, "The Iranians are trying to come up with new ways and routes to smuggle weapons from Iran to its allies in the Middle East, testing and defying the West's abilities to track them down."

Western intelligence sources said the airplane carried components for manufacturing precise weapons in Iranian factories inside Lebanon. The U.S. and Israel, as well as other western intelligence agencies, have supplied evidence that Iran has operated weapons factories in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.

The Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah has been building factories in the heart of Beirut to convert missiles into highly-accurate precision weapons capable of striking sensitive Israeli sites. Upon deciding to convert its massive 150,000-strong rocket arsenal to missiles with pinpoint accuracy, Hezbollah chose to transfer its sites to the heart of Beirut in order to deter Israeli airstrikes.

Israel has repeatedly reiterated that it will not allow Hezbollah to obtain highly accurate missiles that would threaten sensitive Israelis sites and has been escalating its threats vis a vis Lebanon.

Hezbollah currently possesses over 150,000 thousand missiles, more than most NATO countries. Senior defense officials have said repeatedly that Hezbollah is now Israel's major threat and predict that hundreds of Israelis will die in the next war between the two sides.

4. ERDAN VOWS TO OPPOSE BILL ALLOWING POLICE STRIP SEARCHES
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan vowed to block a bill allowing police ot strip search detainees, including arestees suspected of minor crimes.

Erdan said on Thursday that he opposed the law as it would entrust the police with wide latitude to invade the privacy of Israeli citizens.

"This is an unusual and severe authorization that violates the rights and privacy of detainees," said Erdan. Such authority should only be authorized in very exceptional cases, and when this is necessary in order to prevent the smuggling of anything that endanger the security of policemen or anyone else."

"I will not allow such harm to the rights of detainees without the necessity being examined in the most fundamental manner"

Erdan, who oversees the police, spoke with the Knesset's Constitution Committee Chairman Nissan Slomiansky and asked him not to advance the section of the law dealing with strip searches.

The initiative came as part of a broad law dealing with powers to search for detainees, which began in 2014. According to Erdan, police wanted to fast track the portion of the law dealing with bodily searches without consulting him.

The proposed legislation is not expected to pass over lawmakers from both sides of the spectrum said that they would vote against it. "You are requesting an unlimited irresponsible degree of power, and saying simply, all we want is to strip search people," leftist MK Dov Khenin said during a heated debate in the Knesset on Wednesday.

Police and the Israel Prisoners Service say that they need the authority to strip-search prisoners in order to prevent them from smuggling drugs and weapons into prison.

"Currently we can do a search down to the underwear. We cannot remove anyone's underwear and we find ourselves at risk. Detainees hid knives, narcotics, telephones in intimate places. ... It's a matter of life or death," the Israel Police's Deputy Legel Advisor Aya Goretzky told the Knesset's Constitutional Committee on Wednesday.

5. FEMALE SOLDIERS TO SERVE AS KASHRUT SUPERVISORS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Following the instruction of the head of the Personnel Directorate, Major General Moti Almoz, in two weeks female soldiers who are to fill positions in a course of kashrut supervisors will enlist, Galei Tzahal reported Thursday.

In 2004, the IDF decided to open the role of kashrut supervisors for girls, but the decision has not been implemented since then due to various objections from the military rabbinate.

A few months ago, the fact that the decision was not implemented was publicized and, as a result, the head of the Personnel Directorate ordered the military rabbinate to implement the decision and recruit girls for the position.

The women who are to serve as kashrut supervisors are expected to enlist on Tuesday, December 11. From the army reception base they will go to the army school for human resources professions, where they will undergo a special course of military kashrut supervisors that will last two and a half weeks.

This course, which had been closed to women, will now be opened for the first time to women by the military rabbinate. After the course, the female soldiers will fill positions as kashrut supervisors in various army units.

The IDF said in response: "The IDF is working to integrate women in an egalitarian manner and in accordance with the needs of the system."

6. CNN PUNDIT: PALESTINE FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA
by Gary Willig

CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill addressed the opening meeting of the United Nations commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People Wednesday.

"This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Nakba," he said.

"The Israeli nation continues to restrict freedom," Hill stated. "There are more than 60 Israel laws that deny citizenship rights to Palestinians just because they are not Jewish."

He called the "Israeli criminal justice system" a "term I can only use with irony," as "Palestinians are routinely denied due process of law."

Hill further accused Israel of turning Gaza into "the world's largest open-air prison."

"As an American I'm embarrassed that my tax dollars contribute to this reality. No American president has taken a principled stand for Palestinian rights. I'm saddened though not surprised that Trump has further emboldened Israel's behavior.

He called the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem as a "powerful provocation" and a"death knell" for the peace process.

Hill noted that Trump's actions "are not wildly out of step with American policy" as his actions followed a law Congress passed in 1995.

"Donald Trump is not an exception to American policy, but a more rather he is a more transparent and aggressive iteration of it.

He called for the international community to engage in Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against Israel until it allow a Palestinian State on the pre-1967 borders and allow the so-called 'right of return.'

Hill said the international community must allow the Palestinian Arabs to use any methods necessary to resist Israel, implying that violence against Israel is legitimate.

"Contrary to western mythology, black resistance to American apartheid was not" purely nonviolent, he said. "Tactics otherwise divergent from Dr. King or Gandhi were equally important to preserving safety and attaining freedom. If we are in true solidarity, we must allow them the same range of opportunity and political possibility. We must recognize the right of an occupied people to defend themselves. We must prioritize peace, but we must not romanticize or fetishize it. We must promote non violence at every opportunity, but cannot endorse narrow politics that shames Palestinians for resisting, for refusing to do nothing in ethnic cleansing."

Justice requires a "Free Palestine from the River to the Sea," he concluded.

Anne Bayefsky, Director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust and President of Human Rights Voices, witnessed the event. "I have been watching the UN's so-called Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People for decades and this was an especially obscene UN moment that reveals the true nature of the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish animus of the modern United Nations. "

"CNN commentator and Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill's call at the United Nations for the destruction of the Jewish state was not some accident. He didn't misspeak. He was an invited guest. He was the only person invited to speak as 'the' representative of 'civil society.' When he ended his extraordinary tirade with 'Give us a free Palestine from the river to the sea' his words were met by a round of applause. The only applause for any speaker," she observed.

"The host and Chair of the 'UN Committee for the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People,' Senegalese Ambassador Cheikh Niang, thanked him profusely for his 'elegant words' & 'hailed civil society organizations.' There are no excuses for democratic nations to tolerate, to support and to finance a world organization that has profoundly corrupted its spirit and purpose."

The International Day of Palestinian Day with the Palestinian People was created by the UN General Assembly in 1977. The commemoration will be held from November 28-30.

7. UN: EASTERN JERUSALEM MUST BE CAPITAL OF 'PALESTINE'
by Gary Willig

The commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People at the United Nations began Wednesday.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres addressed the opening meeting of the three-day commemoration.

Secretary General Guterres said that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people served to "remind us of our collective and unfinished task" to create a Palestinian State.

Guterres criticized Israel for "demolitions, continued settlement construction, and evictions" and stated that eastern Jerusalem must be the capital of a Palestinian Arab state.

Palestinian Authority representative to the United Nations Riyad Mansour read a statement by PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas at the meeting.

Abbas noted in his statement that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is held on the anniversary of the UN vote to partition mandatory Palestine into a Jewish and Arab state.

The PA chairman called the partition vote "unfair" and stated that the decision was made "without the consent of the Palestinian people."

Abbas accused Israel of "Apartheid," of refusing to live up to its commitments under the Oslo accords, and of "colonialism."

According to Abbas, the PA has fought incitement and terrorism, has fulfilled all of its obligations under the Oslo accords, and has never refused negotiations.

He called on the United Nations to end the "double standards" under which he said Israel was not required to abide by UN resolutions.

Henry Suarez, the representative of the Non-Aligned Movement from Venezuela, also spoke at the meeting and accused Israel of attempting to "change the character" of Jerusalem and called for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its alleged "violations of international law."

The International Day of Palestinian Day with the Palestinian People was created by the UN General Assembly in 1977. The commemoration will be held from November 28-30.

8. ARAB LEAGUE: ISRAEL IS 'JUDAIZING' JERUSALEM
by Gary Willig

The League of Arab States accused Israel of attempting to 'Judaize' Jerusalem.

Majed Abdelfattah Abdelaziz, the representative for the Arab League, addressed the opening meeting of the United Nations commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Abdelaziz criticized moves by the United States in the Middle East, including the "illegal recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel," the relocation of the embassy to Jerusalem, and the defunding of UNRWA.

He further accused Israel of attempting to reshape Jerusalem's demographics to turn the holy city Jewish and called on the international community to safeguard Jerusalem's holy sites from Israel.

Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel since the country's founding in 1948 and is the holiest city in Judaism.

The International Day of Palestinian Day with the Palestinian People was created by the UN General Assembly in 1977. The commemoration will be held from November 28-30.
