1. PM: ISRAEL WILL USE ALL ITS MIGHT IF WAR IS FORCED UPON US
by David Rosenberg

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War Wednesday, saying that Israel would continue to work towards preventing the outbreak of another major conflict in the region, while adding that the IDF would not hesitate to use its "full force" if war does break out.

During the ceremony at Jerusalem's Mount Herzl military cemetery, Netanyahu emphasized Israel's commitment to preserving peace.

"We must exert every possible effort to prevent war," said Netanyahu, but added that "if we are forced into a war, we will use our full force against those who seek our destruction."

"Those who seek to destroy us," Netanyahu continued, "are mostly in the Middle East, in particular Iran, which openly calls for the destruction of Israel. It is our obligation to protect ourselves from this danger. And we shall continue to [protect ourselves]."

Earlier this week, Israeli fighter jets bombed a weapons development center in northern Syria, reportedly maintained by the Assad regime, with Iranian assistance.

Despite the airstrike, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah claimed that the terror group already possessed "precision missiles", warning Israel to "watch out".

"People who were outside the conflict with Israel are now part of it; Israel is afraid of any war, they understand that the war against us will have many ramifications in the region," he added

2. 'ARI, YOUR MISSION IS OUR MISSION'
by Hillel Fuld

Some thoughts, as I try very hard to gather them. Good chance this is me rambling on, but that is at the core of it all.

It's 7:40 AM and I am after yet another sleepless night. The reason for that is the essence of this story.

When I can't sleep, I'll usually open my Facebook and read some random story and drift asleep, but well, there is only one story in my feed. I scroll down to try and find something else to focus on, just so I can fall asleep, but no matter how far I scroll, all anyone is talking about is Ari.

Ok, well then, there's an easy solution, I'll just wait up till my Israeli friends fall asleep, then I'll only see my American friends' posts. 3 am. 4 am. Yea, that didn't help.

Apparently, in synagogues around the world, literally in every single country, my brother was the subject of the Rabbi's speech to the congregation.

There is no escaping this. Ari's impact is everywhere and in everything.

No problem. Close Facebook. Twitter? Yea no. Endless commentary. Countless articles.

Ok, forget the internet. I need to sleep. I'll just have my thoughts. Bad bad idea. That video, the little I saw of it before even knowing it was Ari. It is playing on loop. In my brain.

But that's it. My sleep doesn't matter.

In my world, top venture capitalists speak about looking for entrepreneurs on a mission. Marc Andreessen wrote about it. Michael Eisenberg (whose support this week has been just incredible) wrote about it.

How do you know when someone is on a mission vs looking for some personal gain? Hard to know but when you see it, you know.

A mission. That was Ari's life.

"The Lion of Zion" is what they're calling him. Because "Ari" means lion.

Israel Defender. Guardian of the Jews. The sheriff in town. So many different descriptions.

Thousands of stories. But not stories of grandiose gestures, well, ok, some of those too, but simple things Ari did throughout his life. Simple things that changed lives.

Anyway, the bottom line is, so much has been said about Ari and the family. It's all true. And then some. I told people at the shiva who praised the family that I'm the black sheep. But in reality, doing what I do, promoting technology? That's a picnic. It's easy to promote technology.

But jokes aside, the one thing no one really knows about our family is just how close we are. How tight we are. How one of our limbs was just ripped from our body.

Sleep? Forget sleep. How does one go on when you lived a whole life with five limbs and now only have four? I don't know. We will. Somehow.

Seems impossible to think about, but "impossible" had nothing on Ari.

Till the last moment, he did the impossible.

No, after the last moment, he did the impossible. The people that came to the shiva? Impossible. People like Achinoam Nini.

The tales I am hearing about how far Ari's reach extended? Impossible.

The amount of good deeds Ari did for people less fortunate than him? Impossible. Nigeria. That's one that came in late last night. Nigeria. I might have ignored a message from a woman in Nigeria asking for help. Not Ari. Impossible.

7,421 people donating over $700,000 for Ari's family? Impossible.

I am rambling. I realize that. I blame the lack of sleep but also; the things I've learned about my brother this week... As I finish one sentence, one story, the next one writes itself. It doesn't end.

A mission. Impossible. The play on words here didn't occur to me till now but this week definitely showed me one thing. Ari is up there, smiling because he knows with full certainty that he can make a big check mark on this world and say confidently, Mission Accomplished.

What picture is appropriate for a post like this, I think to myself.

That smile. That's how he's smiling in heaven now. Looking down at how he changed it all. His mission is accomplished and will continue to be accomplished by all of us. This is what I imagine to be the look on his face right now.

Don't recall who sent this to me but thank you for sending it. This is very Ari.

Ari, your mission is our mission. You left an army down here. Millions of soldiers.

Now rest.

3. MASS PROTEST IN GAZA OVER UNRWA JOB CUTS
by AFP

Thousands of employees of UNRWA protested in Gaza on Wednesday against forced redundancies as a result of US funding cuts, announcing a one-day strike next week.

More than 5,000 people attended the march that began at the Gaza headquarters of UNRWA, including senior figures from Hamas and other factions.

The agency announced it would cut more than 250 jobs in Gaza and Judea and Samaria and make over 500 other positions part-time, as it seeks to survive crippling financial shortfalls caused by US aid cuts.

Washington has provided more than $350 million a year for the agency, but US President Donald Trump pulled all funding earlier this year.

The job cuts have sparked fierce protests, with UNRWA's head in Gaza accusing the agency's labor union in Gaza of "mutiny."

During Wednesday's demonstration, union representative Amir al-Mashal announced "a full strike in all UNRWA agencies on Monday, as a first step of protests."

He called on PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to intervene.

4. US AMBASSADOR: PA TERROR COMPENSATION MUST STOP
by Nitzan Keidar

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman reiterated Thursday his country's demand that the Palestinian Authority stop paying the families of terrorists.

"The Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Commission has confirmed that the family of the terrorist who murdered Ari Fuld is 'eligible to receive a monthly salary' as compensation for his incarceration," he tweeted.

"This practice is unconscionable and must stop if there is to be any hope for peace."

It should be noted that Fuld, who was murdered this Sunday in a stabbing attack at the entrance to the shopping center near the Gush Etzion junction, was an American citizen.

Hours after the murder, Ambassador Friedman posted an announcement saying that "America grieves as one of its citizens was brutally murdered by a Palestinian terrorist. Ari Fuld was a passionate defender of Israel & an American patriot."

"He represented the best of both countries & will be deeply missed. May his family be comforted & his memory be blessed."

5. ROCK HURLED INSIDE POLISH SYNAGOGUE DURING YOM KIPPUR PRAYERS
by JTA

Unidentified individuals hurled a rock into a synagogue in Gdansk in northern Poland, shattering the glass of one window while worshipers, including children, were inside.

The assault on Gdansk's New Synagogue occurred on Wednesday, during Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), one of Judaism's holiest days, the Jewish Religious Community in Gdansk wrote on its Facebook page.

The rock fell "in the atrium where women waiting for neilah — the final prayer of Yom Kippur," the statement read. "There were children around. The rock flew several centimeters from where women were standing." No one was hurt in the incident.

Police are investigating the incident, the statement also said.

The community in its statement said the incident recalled the actions of ultra-nationalists in the 1930s, who "would often target synagogues on Yom Kippur," the text read. But such attacks are very rare in Poland today, where documented anti-Semitic incidents are mostly verbal.

In Poland, which is home to some 20,000 Jews, Deputy National Prosecutor Agata Gałuszka-Górska in May said that the number of anti-Semitic incidents had dropped by 30 percent, to 112 last year from 160 in 2016. Anti-Semitic hate crimes accounted for about 6 percent of all hate crimes recorded, she said.

In November, 60,000 people attended a nationalist march in Poland that featured anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim rhetoric. Some local Jews say the government is tolerating ultra-nationalism that elevates the risk of anti-Semitic violence. However, other leaders of Jewish organizations in Poland dismiss this claim.

6. WATCH: TERROR ATTACK IN JERUSALEM FOILED
by David Rosenberg

[youtube:2047446]

A terror attack on Jewish worshippers in Jerusalem during the Yom Kippur holiday was foiled Tuesday night.

An Arab terrorist attempted to stab worshippers and Israeli police officers with a screwdriver on Haneviim Street in the capital Tuesday night just after 7:00 p.m.

Police deployed to the area spotted the terrorist as he lunged at his potential victims, and managed to shoot and neutralize the terrorist. The terrorist was killed by the gunfire.

No worshippers or police were injured in the attack.

According to police, the terrorist was identified as a 26-year-old resident of the town of Qalandiya between Jerusalem and Ramallah.

Authorities say the terrorist had been illegally residing in Jerusalem.

The terrorist is believed to have entered the capital in violation of the general closure order imposed on Judea and Samaria ahead of the Yom Kippur holiday for security purposes.

Last Sunday, an Arab terrorist from the town of Yatta south of Hevron stabbed and killed 45-year-old father of four Ari Fuld in a shopping center in Gush Etzion.

An American-born immigrant to Israel, Fuld had been a resident of the town of Efrat in Gush Etzion, and was a member of the local first response security team.

After being stabbed in the back, Fuld managed to shoot the terrorist before collapsing. He later succumbed to his wounds.

7. TERRORIST STABBER NEUTRALIZED IN JERUSALEM
by Elad Benari, Canada

An Arab terrorist tried to stab Israelis in the Old City of Jerusalem, near the Damascus Gate, on Tuesday evening.

Police forces who arrived to the scene neutralized the terrorist. There were no reports of injuries.

Palestinian Authority (PA) officials said the terrorist was shot dead by security forces, according to AFP.

The attempted stabbing attack took place after Israel shut down for the holy day of Yom Kippur, which began at sundown.

The defense establishment completed its special preparations for Yom Kippur earlier on Tuesday. The IDF imposed a general closure on the Judea and Samaria area on Sunday and closed the crossings in Gaza, ending at midnight after Yom Kippur, subject to a security assessment.

During the fast, roadblocks are set up on the main roads in Jerusalem to prevent vehicular traffic from eastern Jerusalem neighborhoods to western neighborhoods. Police and Border Guards are stationed near the checkpoints and deployed in frontline neighborhoods and at friction points to prevent disturbances.

Last month, an Arab terrorist from the Arab Israeli city of Umm al-Fahm tried to stab a policeman in Jerusalem's Old City.

The terrorist left the Temple Mount area and a few moments later encountered a team of police officers who were stationed there. He tried to stab one of them with a knife before being shot dead by the officers who were at the scene.

No one was physically injured, but a Magen David Adom team of paramedics treated two women for emotional trauma.

Earlier this week, Ari Fuld, a 45-year-old immigrant from the US and resident of the Gush Etzion town of Efrat, was murdered in a stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion junction.

8. CHABAD AIRLIFTS KOSHER FOOD TO HURRICANE-AFFECTED JEWS
by JTA

Jewish families in Wilmington, North Carolina were able to eat a kosher meal before the start of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) after the Chabad synagogue in nearby Charlotte was able to arrange the arrival of a helicopter carrying 150 pounds of kosher food.

After days with no contact due to Hurricane Florence, Rabbi Yossi Groner of Charlotte's Ohr HaTorah was able to speak by telephone to Rabbi Moshe Leiblich of Chabad of Wilmington on Monday. Leiblich requested that he find a way to send kosher food, the Charlotte Observer reported on Wednesday.

A truck full of kosher food sent from Raleigh after the hurricane first hit had been turned away by authorities because of dangerous road conditions.

Groner's son, Ben Tzion, contacted a friend who is a helicopter mechanic and was able to secure a helicopter for Tuesday morning. It arrived at the airport in Wilmington at 1:30 p.m. carrying kosher chicken and dairy products as well as ready-to-eat meals, which were delivered to families preparing for Yom Kippur, the newspaper reported.

"It was tremendous, and certainly a relief," Leiblich told the Observer. "It gave us kosher meat until the stores are back to normal."

The Chabad of Wilmington was expected to be the only one in the city holding Yom Kipuur services, due to the hurricane.

There are between 800 and 1,000 Jewish families living in Wilmington.
