1. HAMAS USING 17,000 CHILDREN TO FIGHT ISRAEL
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) completed a a request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague, asking to sue Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

In the request, JIJ cites testimonies showing that Haniyeh committed two main war crimes: Firstly, he used children under the age of 15 for military purposes, using them both as child soldiers and to carry out terror attacks.

Secondly, Haniyeh consistently used children as human shields and as military targets.

The total number of children misused by Hamas since 2016 currently stands at 17,000.

Haniyeh is also charged with widescale and consistent use of torture and illegal killing, carried out by Hamas' internal security forces in Gaza.

JIJ Attorney Uri Morad, who submitted the request, said the testimonies collected have received praise from representatives of the ICC's department of information and research.

"The entire process was very efficient and organized, and we felt like we had the trust of those receiving the request," he said. "I believe that this suit, which the Jerusalem Institute for Justice has submitted, will be dealt with fairly and without bias."

2. EXPLOSIVE DEVICE FOUND NEAR SECURITY FENCE
by Arutz Sheva Staff

On Friday morning, IDF troops neutralized an explosive device located near the Gaza border.

The device was discovered near the border fence separating southern Gaza from Israel.

No one was injured and no damage was caused.

This is the second explosive device placed near the Gaza border this week. On Thursday, the IDF thwarted an attempted terror attack and neutralized an explosive device placed near the border.

"Hamas continues its attempts to harm Israel's security infrastructure and security forces near the security fence, while using Gazan civilians as a shield and cover for terror activities," an IDF spokesman said.

by Arutz Sheva Staff

Police units on Friday responded to a number of suspicious balloons that were found in the city of Kiryat Gat in southern Israel.

The balloons, believed to be incendiary and sent into Israeli territory by Gazan terrorists, landed in a playground.

Expert police sappers arrived at the scene and safely neutralized the threat, preventing further danger to the public.

No one was injured.

"Police are continuing to take security measures in the south, and we will respond to any further incidents," a spokesperson said.

6. ISRAEL SELLS SAUDI ARABIA IRON DOME
by Mordechai Sones

The Saudi-based Al-Khaleej Online reported today that Saudi Arabia had acquired an Iron Dome system from Israel to defend itself from missile attacks by the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

According to the report, the deal was mediated by the United States, in which the Saudis undertook that the system would not endanger Israel or its allies.

Israeli security sources say this is a significant development in the relationship between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

According to the report, Israel initially refused to sell the Saudis to the system because the two countries have no diplomatic relations and the system may be used against it. Saudi Arabia involved the Americans who exerted pressure and brought about a change in the Israeli position.

The deal is due to take place within a few months and the first battery is due to arrive in Saudi Arabia before 2019.

Knowledgeable observers have suggested the move may indicate Israel has developed a newer version of the system.

Iron Dome was designed to detect, evaluate, and intercept missiles, cannon rounds, mortars, helicopters, and air threats. Launched by the Israeli Air Force in April 2011, Iron Dome intercepted more than 1,000 rockets fired from Gaza in Southern and Central Israel, with a 90% success rate.

Although Israel remains the sole operator of Iron Dome, several countries have expressed interest in the system, including the United States. Raytheon is working toward production of a US version of Iron Dome called the SkyHunter® missile that could someday defend forward-deployed American forces.

7. 'ERDOGAN IS TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE ISRAELI MARKET'
by Hezki Baruch

Workers from the Hartuv cement company demonstrated today, Wednesday, in front of the ministry of finance against dumping that could harm their livelihood.

The workers protested the severe damage to the livelihood of hundreds of families from Beit Shemesh and the surrounding area resulting from the import of cement from Turkey and Greece at dumping prices.

According to the demonstrators, Turkish and Greek cement is currently cheaper in Israel than in the countries of origin. In light of the situation, the plant in Beit Shemesh is in danger of being closed.

The workers point a finger at the state, saying that allowing the cement to be imported only serves Turkish President Erdogan's economic interests instead of protecting Israeli industry and economy. The demonstrators called on Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon to prevent the severe damage to hundreds of workers and their families.

"It does not make sense that the State of Israel told us to come to work and produce high quality cement in order to increase competition, and then it allows Erdogan to flood the country with cheaper cement than what is known in Turkey," said Avi Elimelech, chairman of the workers' union and electrical engineer at the Hartuv factory in Beit Shemesh. "It does not make sense that hundreds of families from Beit Shemesh and the surrounding area will be harmed like this. We do not seek to stop imports, we do not ask for privileges, only to do the logical and right thing, and to allow us to make a decent living and to compete fairly. "

Shraga Brosh, president of the Manufacturers Association of Israel, said: "Importing at dumping prices constitutes a violation of both international trade agreements and Israeli law, and today imports are severely damaging the local cement industry. Today in the state of Israel, there are only two local cement producers that employ hundreds directly and thousands of others second and third-hand, alongside a number of importers, and it is our responsibility as a state to protect them and ensure that their factories will continue to function. The existence of a local industry for the production of cement is a national interest of the highest order in every country, and in the State of Israel in particular. This, inter alia, is for reasons of state security and ensuring the ability for independent production in times of crisis," he said.

8. RABBI: ANOREXICS MUST EAT ON YOM KIPPUR
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Anorexia patients must eat on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), even if they are in advanced stages of treatment, Schneider Hospital's Rabbi Dr. Tomer Mevorach said.

In an article published by the Zomet Institute, Dr. Mevorach explained that anorexia is actually a psychological disorder which reduces food intake, influences body weight, and is characterized by a fear of gaining weight and an obsession with body weight.

Anorexia typically influences teenage girls. It can be difficult to treat, and if left untreated can be fatal.

According to Dr. Mevorach, anorexic patients fall under the category of "mentally ill for one issue," and their therapy includes both the physical and mental aspects. Initial therapy includes physical treatment to reverse the life-threatening malnutrition. Therefore, patients in this stage are considered "ill and in danger of their lives" and there is no question they should eat. Eating "not via mouth" is not forbidden on Yom Kippur, but it is also not required unless there is a medical reason for it. Eating small amounts at a time should be seriously considered, since there may be physical and mental consequences to such a decision.

Patients in later stages of treatment, during which the focus is on the psychological aspects and creating healthy habits, present a greater challenge in terms of Jewish law, especially when it is not longer clear that there is a risk to the patient's life or that there may be such a risk.

However, Dr. Mevorach suggests several solutions to allow these patients to eat as well, since the price of not eating may come at a high psychological price. He also warns of situations in which the patients believe their situation is better than it actually is, especially if they are eating due to external pressure and not an internal desire to eat.
