1. JOHN BOLTON ARRIVES IN ISRAEL
by Arutz Sheva Staff, AFP
US National Security Adviser John Bolton on Sunday landed in Israel for his first visit to the Jewish State since entering office.
"Just arrived into Israel. I'm looking forward to meeting with PM Netanyahu and other officials beginning today to discuss bilateral concerns and a range of national security issues," Bolton tweeted.
US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman tweeted in response, "I am so pleased to welcome National Security Advisor @AmbJohnBolton and his staff to Israel."
"Looking forward to several days of bilateral engagement to further strengthen the US – Israel relationship."
Bolton assumed office on April 9, after US President Donald Trump fired his predecessor, H.R. McMaster.
Bolton is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday morning.
Following his visit to Israel, Bolton is expected to visit Ukraine and Geneva, where he will meet
with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev.
The meeting in Geneva is a follow-up to Trump's July summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, according to the White House.
2. JEWS BARRED FROM TEMPLE MOUNT FOR ISLAMIC HOLIDAY
by Mordechai Sones
The Israel Police announced the Temple Mount will be closed to visitors, Jews and tourists, during the Islamic "Festival of the Sacrifice".
"As noted on signs posted by the police at the entrance gate to the Temple Mount, the Mount will be closed to visitors from August to 21-23," the police said.
The police said "visits will return to normal on August 26th at 7:30."
Closing the Mount for Jews and tourists during Muslim holidays is a step taken by the police every year "to prevent security friction".
However, in closing the Mountain there is no reciprocity and on Jewish holidays the Mount is not closed to Muslims, as was the case in the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron for years.

3. TEL AVIV SHOOTING: ATTEMPTED HIT ON KNOWN CRIMINAL
by Mordechai Sones
Police suspect the target of this morning's shooting at a vehicle in Tel Aviv's Kikar Hamedina Square was Ben Cohen, a criminal known to police.
Shots were fired from a scooter passing the vehicle where Cohen sat. No one was hurt and massive police forces were called to the scene.
The police started searches immediately after the incident. They spotted the perforated vehicle in a Tel Aviv parking lot.
The incident's investigation is at its inception and three suspects have been detained so far. Police stress the background to the incident is criminal.

4. HEALTH MINISTRY: NUMBER OF LEPTOSPIROSIS CASES RISES TO 42
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Israel's Health Ministry on Sunday held an emergency meeting to discuss the recent outbreak of leptospirosis, believed to be caused by polluted streams in Israel's north.
So far, the Health Ministry has received 253 reports of suspected leptospirosis cases, and seven water sources have been closed to the public.
According to Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman (UTJ), the number of confirmed cases has hit 42.
"There are currently 42 patients who have been diagnosed," he said. "That's not a small number, but it's under control. I demand all relevant parties lend a hand, and together we will do what needs to be done."
Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov said, "Things are under control and we are closely monitoring the water sources in Israel's north, as well as the patterns the illness takes."
Addressing the public, he said, "Only listen to our directives. There are many baseless, false, and biased [reports]."
The Health Ministry has requested that individuals with a fever above 38 degrees (100.4 Fahrenheit) who immersed in the water of the Zaki, Yehudiya, Meshushim (Hexagon Pool), and Zavitan streams starting July 1, 2018 and fell ill less than 3 weeks ago, contact their family doctor.
Ben Gurion University's Dr. Jacob Moran-Gilad, who participated in the meeting, told Army Radio, "Treatment for this disease is relatively simple, and most of the patients have already been released home. There's no plague, it's an outbreak of illness. The purpose of today's discussion is to coordinate the activities of the various offices."
5. IRAN TO UNVEIL NEW FIGHTER JET
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Iran will unveil a new fighter jet next week, the Fars news agency reported Saturday.
"We will present a plane on National Defense Industry Day, and people will see it fly, and the equipment designed for it," Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami told Fars.
Iran celebrates its National Defense Industry Day on August 22.
Also on Saturday, Iran announced that it had mounted on one of its warships a new defensive weapons system.
Earlier this month, Iran test-fired a ballistic missile and conducted a large-scale naval exercise involving over 50 small gunboats in the Strait of Hormuz.
6. TERRORIST STABBER NEUTRALIZED
by Gil Ronen
An Arab terrorist tried to stab a policeman on Sha'ar Hagay Street near the Shechem Gate in Jerusalem's Old City Friday.
The terrorist was neutralized and arrested by police forces on the spot.
A Magen David Adom team treated two women for emotional trauma.
"A short time ago," said the Israel Police, "a suspect man approached a police position in the Old City and apparently tried to stab one of the policemen. The terrorist was neutralized."
On the southern front, Arab media reported that one Arab was killed in clashes with the IDF along the Gaza border Friday, and 30 wounded. Five of these were reportedly wounded as a result of IDF sniper fire.
Meanwhile, large firefighting forces battled three fires that broke out at Be'eri Forest in southern Israel, as a result of the launching of incendiary kites by Gaza terrorists.

8. IDF FOILS GAZAN INFILTRATION ATTEMPT
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Thousands of Gazans rioted along the Gaza-Israel security fence, the IDF reported.
The rioters hurled several firebombs and IEDs at the security fence.
No injuries to IDF soldiers were reported.
In a statement, the IDF noted that IDF troops spotted several suspects crossing into Israeli territory. The suspects retreated immediately into Gaza.
"IDF troops responded with riot dispersal means and fired live rounds selectively according to standard operating procedures," the statement said.
