1. RIGHT-WING GOVERNMENT DOESN'T NEED LIBERMAN, POLL SHOWS
by Arutz Sheva Staff
A new poll published in Maariv's weekend paper shows that if elections were to be held today, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu would be able to form a coalition without the Yisrael Beytenu party.
The poll, conducted by Panels Politics, gave the leading Likud a whopping 37 Knesset seats and the center-left Blue and White party 33 Knesset seats.
Yisrael Beytenu, led by former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, would receive seven Knesset seats, the poll showed. The Ashkenazic-haredi UTJ party would receive eight seats, while the Sephardic-haredi Shas would receive seven.
Both the United Right and New Right parties would receive six Knesset seats.
The left-wing Meretz and Labor parties would receive four Knesset seats each, and the Arab Hadash-Ta'al would receive seven. Ra'am-Balad, the other Arab party, would not cross the electoral threshold.
2. AHARON RAZEL: THE MELODY IS STILL BURNING
by Yoni Rotenberg
"The people of Israel are like the burning bush - they fought and overcame, they return at dawn and they alone will remain." When I heard this line from the song "Am Yisrael" from Aharon Razel's new album, I didn't pay much attention but when I heard the same line on the way back from the interview with Razel, I understood its meaning and the story behind it.
"My grandmother, Grandma Fanny, was a Holocaust survivor," Razel told me. "She fled to the forests with my grandfather, jumped out of the train and survived the war. She would always tell me, 'Aharon, you sing, 'And the [burning bush] is not being consumed. My [burning] bush is being consumed.'"
"Just before she passed away two years ago - she already had 50 great-grandchildren - her children became religious and had many children, she called me. She already was in a wheelchair with a full-time aide but she was clear and sharp as a razor and said to me: 'Aharon, remember that I told you that my bush is being consumed? I was wrong, I want to take it back.'"
These two songs about the burning bush, the first of Aaron Razel's career and the latter a current song, symbolize the path the young Ba'al Teshuvah (a secular Jew who becomes Torah observant) took from the alleys of Tzfat twenty-two years ago, until he became a Torah scholar, living in Nachlaot with his wife and nine children. The topics of his songs changed and Torah verses replaced his original lyrics. But creative people always try to distance themselves from being "placed in a box."
"I'm a complex person," Razel said. "In my song, 'I Established My Place in the Beit Hamidrash' (Torah study center), I come across as an image of a Torah scholar. It's a song of salute to the Torah. People took it too far. If they saw me on the street, they would say, 'Hey Aharon, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in the Beit Hamidrash?'"
"But on the other hand, I also wrote a song with an opposite message, 'Come, let's go out to the street.' People approached me, saying, 'Once you said this and now you're contradicting yourself.' But the truth is that each song with its specific feeling represented a particular feeling I had at that moment. I feel 'this' but also feel 'that.'"
Still, people were a little surprised by the new type of person you presented yourself as in "I Established My Place in the Beit Hamidrash." People felt like you abandoned them?
"I moved a bit to the haredi sector," Razel admits, "even though I come from all the worlds because I'm a Ba'al Teshuvah. I would call it Chabakkol - Chabad, Breslov, Rabbi Kook and Litvak."
Razel pointed out that "I Established My Place in the Beit Hamidrash" isn't a contradiction to other approaches, but a song of praise of the Torah. "Our desire to believe in the Torah is not because it's better than being a doctor, but because it is the area that needs strengthening. Everything is important but there are things that feel natural to do because they 'set you up for life' like becoming a doctor. The nature of the Torah is that it's something that needs inspiration. This is the main goal for haredim."
"The whole song is a paraphrase of Arik Einstein's 'I Love to be at Home,' Razel explains. "There's a nice feeling here, like he says, 'I'm that kind of person.' I did cause some controversy, but it doesn't belittle all the other approaches. My wife was nervous when I released the song. She said to me that I'll be in conflict with Chabadniks and Breslovers and National Religious people."
"But ultimately people understood - that everyone loves Torah. I can't say she wasn't right because there were unpleasant incidents. I gave a ride to a teenager who was distributing Breslov pamphlets and he said, 'I love your songs, but you besmirched me in this song. I was insulted.' Or a Chabadnik who said, 'What, you're opposed to shelichus (teaching unaffiliated Jews about Judaism)?'"
"But I say - there are songs that glorify everything, love of Israel and other topics. Does it hurt that there's one song which glorifies the Torah? On the other hand, there was a Torah scholar who said to me, 'You gave us a feeling that we're worth something with this song.'"
Each song brought different tears

Razel's new album, "The Soul Wants More" reveals a rare variety of musical and textual styles. The listener meets Rahamim Nissan - a cantor from a Nachlaot synagogue, a newlywed Baa'eli Teshuvah couple from a kibbutz, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, a holy hunchback, and even a segment from Ashkenazi Selichos (prayers of repentance said prior to the High Holy Days).
"Yedidya Meir, a good friend of mine, accompanies me throughout the creative process. He has a good eye, he's a disciple of Rav Kook. He said he doesn't understand how there's one song about Rahamim Nissan, a second on teshuvah (repentance), another song about a Ba'al Teshuvah, and then a song about a person in the Holocaust. He left me a very moving message one night: 'I heard your CD, I cried during the first four songs - every song brought different tears.'"
Razel tells me a little bit about his world as a writer and composer. "I don't have a studio although friends have long told me that I have to get something like that for myself. Composing is part of my life, it fits into my daily schedule. At times I find myself writing in the car on a trip when my wife drives."
Razel adds that there is another factor which is very significant in the creative process. In contrast to the popular image of an artist being independent and free of restrictions, Razel says that the framework of family and Torah is what ensures continuity and balance of creativity rather than temporary bursts of inspiration that usually end up drying up.
"You need perspective," he says. "It's not like I'm sitting and creating all day and it's good for me like that. It gives power to the music because I control it. I don't drown in the chaos of Bohemian creativity. It's a part of my daily schedule of Torah and family, part of the privilege of being religious. There are many artists who become successful and get divorced or remain single, and they don't understand how religious people can be artists and have a family. The truth is that religion balances the creative work. Being religious is a great blessing in this sense."
"The Holy Hunchback"
One of Razel's most recent songs - which made waves recently before Holocaust Remembrance Day - is "The Holy Hunchback," a Carlebach story which Razel turned into a song. The song tells of an old street cleaner in Tel Aviv, a disciple of the Rebbe of Piaseczno during the Holocaust, and describes how he told Carlebach about a powerful message that the Rebbe taught in the ghetto. In addition to the song becoming very popular on social media before Holocaust Remembrance Day, Razel was inundated with videos and announcements about schools that used the song for their Holocaust Day ceremonies.
"The song became wildly popular, which I didn't expect. For me, it was a dream come true because I knew the story from long ago, but I always dreamed of composing it."
"Carlebach, with his ingenuity, succeeded in empowering the Holocaust to the most positive place - the Rebbe's message: 'To do a favor to someone else.' Our education about the Holocaust is about how important it is to be in the land of Israel, to take soldiers to Auschwitz to declare 'Never Again.' But it's not enough. It only explains what could have prevented the Holocaust. The story touches the holy Torah and our essence. Carlebach tells you, with all this pain, that what strengthens a Jew is to do favors for others."
Hajdu's rebellious student
Aharon Razel, 44, is no longer a child. At the beginning of his career, he rode on the wave of "a Ba'al Teshuvah who sang something that is not hasidic music," but over the years he proved that his work stands on its own, and has established a place of honor in the Jewish music world for over 20 years. What hasn't changed during all those years are the almost contradictory elements upon which his work is based, which are in fact the great teachers he studied under.
Razal began his musical career at the Conservatory and the Academy. He completed his master's degree in composition at an early age, while his teacher and guide along the way was the Israel Prize laureate for music, Professor André Hajdu. In those days his head was in Mozart and Vivaldi until one day he disappeared from the horizon to far away Tzfat. There, he released his first songs, which were far from what he had learned from Hajdu. Hajdu wasn't comfortable with the move, and he continued to follow his "rebellious" student and try to persuade him to return.
"It was a kind of rebellion," Razel recalled, "and also a return to simplicity from my master's degree in music. It was a journey of discovery after years of classical music. But to this day I listen to Mozart and Vivaldi - it's the music that excites me. You hear it in my work - my arrangements and harmonies are woven from this music. Classical music is the basic tool, it lends understanding to how music is built."
Those were the days of post-Carlebach. After he died, R 'Shlomo Carlebach's nature began to emerge in the world, and Razel joined the group of artists who echoed his work. "Jewish music was at a crossroads due to Carlebach's death. It was already at a turning point. Carlebach cleared the way and left a paved path behind him, which was the opening through which Jewish music entered the world of music."
This encounter, which never took place face-to-face, determined the fate of Razel's work. "Carlebach changed my life, gave me the license in which composing songs is a part of serving God. When Carlebach was alive he didn't interest anyone, was known to few. They didn't recognize his depth."
"André Hajdu was and remains my teacher and master of music. I connected very deeply to him and I feel like his main student. Many things I do, like writing in many different styles and releasing many CDs is from him. It's considered unusual to release a new CD every two years, but I feel that my mission is my songs. It doesn't interest me that I just released a CD - it comes from a non-commercial place. My songs are my mission," Razel concluded.
3. JEWS OF THE DIASPORA ASK: SHOULD ISRAEL BE RULED BY TORAH LAW?
by Dr. Sam Minskoff
[audio:2059017]
Dr. Sam Minskoff, a member of the Aliyah Team at Arutz Sheva, poses this delicate and sensitive issue of Torah Law as a guide for governing Israel, thus making Israel a truly free and joyous place to live if the laws are implemented properly (whatever that means).
In so doing, it would be the task of the Israelites (Jews) to continue forming Israel in ways that Hashem (G-d) commanded in His Torah.

4. REDEEMING HEVRON TOGETHER WITH THE WOMEN OF BEIT HADASSAH
by With the 'Harhivi' Association
This week marks four years since the passing of Rabbi Moshe Levinger, a pioneer who blazed the path to settling Hevron, Judea, and Samaria.
The memorial held in Kiryat Arba-Hevron's Beit Hashalom (Peace House) also marked 40 years of Jewish women in Beit Hadassah, something which allowed Jews to settle in Hevron.
In 1973, ten women and approximately 40 children entered the first floor of the Beit Hadassah complex, aiming to re-establish a permanent Jewish presence in the center of Hevron.
The spirit and strength of these exemplary women, who against all odds blazed the path for settlement, gives future generations both the desire and power to continue redeeming Hevron and all of Israel. The evening was organized by the "Harhivi Makom Ohaleich" (literally, widen the place of your tent), which works to redeem Hevron.

Speaking at the ceremony were Rabbi Dov Lior, who discussed the pioneers, who came inspired Rabbi Levinger's strength and his inner pride borne of deep faith that the People of Israel would reclaim their land.
"We need to do everything in order to redeem the Land and settle it," he said.
Rabbi Eliezer Waldman, who heads the Nir Yeshiva in Kiryat Arba-Hevron, was a close friend of Rabbi Levinger.
"When the women entered Beit Hadassah, it was a very significant revolution," he said. "They embodied the statement that, 'All parts of the Land of Israel, new and old, all belong to the Jewish nation."
Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) said she hopes that "a government will be formed which believes that the People of Israel have a right to every single part of Israel" and that "the governments of Israel will no longer discuss dividing the land, and speak only of where else it can build."
Eliyahu Libman, who today heads the Kiryat Arba-Hevron local council, was one of the children who entered Beit Hadassah in 1973.
"We must take ourselves [in hand] and settle all parts of Israel," he said.
Towards the end of the evening, Rebbetzin Miriam Levinger spoke about some of the experiences and difficulties she had while living with her friends in Beit Hadassah.
"In the difficult reality of Beit Hadassah, the children never said, 'Mommy, let's go home.' They very much identified with the adults' efforts, because I tell you, if they would have cried and complained, I don't know if I would have had the strength to remain. But the fact that they were so excited about it helped us a lot," she concluded.
5. US SENATORS AGAINST JUDEA AND SAMARIA ANNEXATION
by Ben Ariel
A group of Democratic senators on Thursday presented a bill in the US Senate opposing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's election campaign promise to annex parts of Judea and Samaria to Israel, Channel 13 News reported.
According to the report, the group that signed the resolution includes some of the leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2020 election, including Senator Bernie Sanders, who has a history of problematic statements on Israel and has often made clear his views on a two-state solution and against Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.
"Unilateral annexation of portions of the West Bank would jeopardize prospects for a two-state solution, harm Israel's relationship with its Arab neighbors, threaten Israel's Jewish and democratic identity, and undermine Israel's security," says the bill, which calls on the Trump administration to support the two-state solution.
The bill's chances of winning the approval of the Senate, where Republicans have a majority, are not high.
6. VICTIMS OF FATAL CRASH WERE NEW IMMIGRANTS FROM FRANCE
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The victims of a fatal accident Thursday afternoon in southern Israel have been identified as new immigrants, who moved from France to Israel three months ago.
Two girls, ages four and seven, were killed in the crash, which occurred on the Arava road, Route 90, near Ein Yahav.
Five other people were injured in the accident, including two in serious condition, two more who were moderately injured, and one in light condition. Initially, three people had been listed in serious condition.
According to a report by Channel 12, the two girls killed in the accident had immigrated with their family to Israel from France three months ago, and were driving down from Tel Aviv to Eilat for a vacation.
The girls' parents were both moderately injured, while their one-year-old brother was lightly injured.
Two people in the second vehicle involved in the accident were injured, one seriously the other critically.
The victims of the accident were treated at the scene by MDA and IDF emergency first responders before being evacuated by IDF and MDA helicopters to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva.
"I was driving with my family back home from a vacation in Eilat," said MDA paramedic Raanan Hacham. "Near Paran I spotted a serious accident, with two cars which had collided head-on. In one car in the field near the road a man and woman were trapped, and next to the second car, which was on the shoulder, there were additional injured people lying on the ground. I immediately stopped and made a quick scan of the area to get an idea of the situation of the injured."
"With the help of an army medical team which arrived and an MDA unit from nearby towns, we provided medical treatment to the injured, performed extensive resuscitation techniques on two girls, ages four and seven, but in the end we were forced to declare them dead. An MDA helicopter and army helicopters landed at the scene and evacuated five injured to Soroka Hospital, including three people in serious condition and two more in moderate condition."
An initial investigation into the accident suggests that the head-on collision between the two cars occurred after one of the vehicles strayed from its lane and running into the second car, which was driving in the opposite direction.

7. FRENCH IMMIGRANT GIRLS KILLED IN CRASH IDENTIFIED
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The identities of the two young girls killed in a car accident Thursday afternoon were cleared for publication Thursday night.
Authorities say eight-year-old Shirel Ester Ben Simon and her three-year-old sister Sarah were the two fatalities in today's crash on Route 90, near Ein Yahav.
The family, which had recently immigrated to Israel from France, was driving down to the southern port city of Eilat from Tel Aviv for a vacation when their car collided head-on with another vehicle driving in the opposite direction.
An initial investigation into the crash suggests one of the cars strayed from its lane, resulting in the collision.
Five other people were injured in the accident, including two in serious condition, two more who were moderately injured, and one in light condition. Initially, three people had been listed in serious condition.

8. THE BIG PICTURE CONTINUES: THE WAR OF GOG AND MAGOG
by Rabbi Pinchas Winston
[audio:2004875]
The prophets, when speaking about the End-of-Days, talk about a major war called "The War of Gog and Magog".
The Midrash speaks of three such wars and the Chofetz Chaim witnessed one and predicted the next two, including World War II.
Now, as the world heats up and chaos threatens the peace of daily life, especially for the Jews of Eretz Yisrael, the question becomes: Are we heading for the third and final one? If yes, what should one do to survive it?

Knesset Member May Golan (Likud) spoke at the Chovevei Zion and Arutz Sheva conference in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem last night.
"I started ten years ago as a social activist from South Tel Aviv," Golan said, "who marched the street, rallied, fought against illegal infiltration to Israel, led to the fact that the border was finally up and strong, and today to be one of the 120 in the Knesset, and to actually represent the ideals and values of the people who support and love the country of Israel, not just in Israel but from the world, is first of all amazing, it's not easy, and it's not easy to start elections again, but I truly, truly believe in what we do."
3. SMOTRICH CALLED ON PERETZ TO FIRE SENIOR AIDE, PERETZ REFUSED
by Arutz Sheva Staff
National Union Chairman Bezalel Smotrich has appealed to Chairman of the United Right Rabbi Rafi Peretz, threatening to break up the partnership between them if Peretz does not fire his chief of staff, whom he claims is responsible for the briefing last night.
According to Channel 13, Peretz told Smotrich that the briefing had not been given in accordance with his opinion, but that he did not intend to fire the chief of staff.
Earlier, Peretz tried to calm the flames and wrote on Twitter: "In recent months Bezalel and I have been walking shoulder to shoulder despite attempts to split the unity of the camp."
"I reject all the announcements that were issued last night. We will continue to be partners and enter the government together just as we have gone together all along," promised the chairman of the Jewish Home.
MK Smotrich thanked Rabbi Peretz, saying: "Absolutely no one will be able to divide us and drill a hole in the religious Zionist ship. Unity is more important than anything else. Anyone who tries to do this must be out today! Otherwise, it won't stop. It is our responsibility and we owe it to the public and the people of Israel."
4. MEDICAL CLOWNING PIONEER PATCH ADAMS SENDS RIVLIN CONDOLENCES
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Dr. Hunter Patch Adams (known as Patch Adams) eulogized yesterday, Wednesday, the late Nechama Rivlin, the wife of the President. He spoke about the strong impression that Nechama Rivlin had left on him, on the deep and sincere dialogue he was able to hold with her, and he sought to strengthen President Reuven Rivlin and the entire nation in Israel during this difficult time.
Dr. Patch Adams, one of the pioneers of medical clowning in the world, who was known for the Hollywood film named after him, in which the late actor Robin Williams portrayed him, received, two years ago, the Life Achievement Award for 2017 from the Danielle Foundation in recognition of his life's work to promote 'Medicine with a Heart', and his extraordinary attention to patients in all parts of the world.
President Ruvi Rivlin presented the award to Dr. Adams, and the President's wife Nechama also participated in the ceremony. After receiving the award, Adams was invited to the President's residence for a meal together with the president and his wife.
"I have a picture of the two of us embracing, and you can see an excited spark in her eyes... I remember the encounter between us as a meeting of love and peace," Adams said in his recorded words. He concluded his message with the concluding words of one of Pablo Neruda's love sonnets "live in my absence as in a house..."
Absence is such a large house
that you'll walk through the walls,
hang pictures in sheer air.
Absence is such a transparent house
that even being dead, I will see you there,
and if you suffer, Love, I'll die a second time.
"The Danielle Prize - Healing with a Heart" is awarded annually to 12 medical personnel, each year from a different medical field. This year, the prize will be awarded to family physicians who excel in devoted care of patients and their families. The award is given in memory of the late Danielle Sonnenfeld, a volunteer in the oncology ward at the Schneider Children's Hospital, who was killed in a car accident on her way home at the end of a day of volunteering, at the age of 20.

A fire has raged since Wednesday night in the hills of Itamar in Samaria
So far, about 7,000 dunams (1,700 acres) of farmland and pastures have been burned. It is estimated that the damage to the farmers in the area is over NIS 700,000.
"This is the fourth fire to break out in 4 days, endangering residents and families, destroying years worth of work by farmers. The heart breaks," said Iyar Segal, a resident of the Itamar hills. "We expect the Civil Administration, the IDF and police to arrest the arsonists with a strong hand, and to assist the farmers and residents."
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, said: "The heart breaks to see thousands of dunams of farmland and pasture burning. I demand an investigation into the matter to find the culprits and bring them to trial. The farmers, who really sacrifice themselves to work the land and make desolation bloom, cannot be the last ones on the food chain. They should be helped and the fires should be stopped in every possible way. "

Firefighting teams are currently trying to control a major fire that broke near the Moshavim of Even Sapir, Ora and Aminadav, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Police forces evacuated a number of houses of their occupants following the fire that raged in the vicinity of Even Sapir, Ora and Aminadav. The entrance to the site was blocked to allow firefighters to enter.
16 firefighting teams are working at the scene. 6 firefighting helicopters were also dispatched to help the firefighters on the ground.
Police said, "Residents who evacuated independently are asked to leave the doors of their homes without locking them in order to facilitate police search operations. We urge citizens to refrain from going to areas where there are fires and to obey police orders."
At the same time, firefighters managed to subdue another fire that raged in the area of the Lifta at the entrance to Jerusalem.

7. ANALYSIS: IRAN'S THREAT TO ISRAEL CONTINUES TO GROW
by Yochanan Visser
For the third time in one week a confrontation between the pro-Iranian axis and Israel took place in Syria and it looks as though Iran is preparing for the opening of a new front against the Jewish state on the Golan Heights.
After Syrian air defenses tried to down an IAF warplane patrolling the skies in northern Israel at the beginning of last week, two other confrontations took place over the weekend.
On Saturday evening two rockets were fired in the direction of the Israeli Golan Heights with one of them reaching Mount Hermon where it exploded without causing damage or casualties.
The Israeli air force (IAF) responded by launching airstrikes on positions of Hezbollah and the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the vicinity of Damascus, killing three Syrian soldiers and 7 members of Hezbollah and the Quds Force.
The Quds Force and Hezbollah have bases near Al-Husseiniyah and Al-Kiswah south and south-west of Damascus which have been bombed by the IAF before this.
Early Monday morning the IAF again carried out airstrikes against Iran-related targets in Syria.
IAF warplanes launched missiles at the Tiyas or T-4 base near Homs in northwest Syria and reportedly destroyed a weapons storage and several other military facilities belonging to the Quds Force.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 5 casualties as a result of this IAF strike against the Iranian entrenchment in Syria.
It remains unclear if the Israeli warplanes actually entered Syrian airspace. Earlier airstrikes against the T-4 base and other Iranian military facilities in northern Syria have often been carried out from Lebanese airspace after Russia sold its S-300 anti-aircraft missile shield to the Syrian army.
Military experts think it's entirely possible that IAF warplanes still enter Syrian airspace in order to act against the Iranian axis and that the fact that the Syrians never used their S-300 systems against the Israelis indicates the use of the sophisticated anti-aircraft shield requires Russian approval.
The Russian ban on the use of the S-300 system against Israeli warplanes operating in Syria could be the result of understandings reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, observers think.
What is clear, however, is that Iran has no intention of stopping its entrenchment in Syria and is apparently testing Israel's resolve.
The Quds Force is currently establishing a naval base at the port of Tartus in the Latakia Province and is also training Shiite militias in northern Syria in the use of attack drones.
Iran's Iraqi proxy, the Hashd al-Shaabi umbrella organization of predominantly Shiite militias, is slowly taking over eastern Syria and is building a new border crossing near the town of Abukamal on the Iraqi Syrian border.
The construction of the new crossing and a new highway connecting Tehran with the Iraqi border became necessary because the US military controls the At-Tanf border crossing further to the east along the highway from Baghdad to Damascus.
The activities by Hashd al-Shaabi in eastern Syria have already led to the frictions and fighting with the Syrian military which aims to regain control over eastern Syria.
In southern Syria, the Quds Force is currently recruiting former rebels for a new force which is preparing for a confrontation with the Israeli military in the Quneitra region.
The force reportedly has 2,000 fighters at its disposal and consists of 36 local militias whose fighters receive salaries of between $250 and $1,500 per month.
The Iranians, furthermore, deliberately provoked the Israeli military by launching the two missiles Saturday evening and are increasingly threatening the Jewish state via proxies in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah again threatened Israel with war during a speech in honor of al-Quds day and said that in the event of war between Iran and the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia would pay the price.
The Hezbollah boss also said that whenever Israel dared to act against Iranian missile facilities in Lebanon his organization would react "immediately and powerfully."
Israel recently shared intelligence (including satellite images) with the US about the exact locations of the Iranian guided missile facilities in Lebanon and delivered a stern warning to the Lebanese government via the Trump Administration.
In Gaza, meanwhile, the Iranian-backed Palestinian terror organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad continue their low-intensity warfare against Israel by launching incendiary balloons and kites daily. Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar openly admitted Iran was behind the recent escalation with Israel.
"Iran provided us with rockets, and we surprised the world when our resistance targeted Beersheba," Sinwar said adding that "had it not been for Iran, the resistance in Palestine would not have possessed its current capabilities."
The Hamas leader also warned that Tel Aviv would be a prime target in any future confrontation with Israel. Despite countless Israeli airstrikes on military targets in Gaza, Hamas and Islamic Jihad's arsenal of rockets and missiles is still estimated at 20,000 and continues to grow.
Israel now appears to work in tandem with Saudi Arabia to contain Hamas (read Iran) in Gaza.
The Saudi authorities have arrested 60 Hamas operatives over the last two months, media reported.
Israel is ready for any Iranian proxy attack, a senior Israeli navy commander said on Monday but Ron Ben Yishai, one of Israel's military analysts, begs to differ.
In an article for the Hebrew language YNet news site Ben Yishai wrote that "Israel's enemies understand the psychological, spiritual, cultural and political fabric of Israeli society" and the Israeli military is "paralyzed".
The Ynet analyst said that "Iran has a credible capability to threaten Israel with nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles".
His comments came shortly before German Intelligence confirmed Iran has a progressing program for the development of weapons of mass destruction.

1. ISRAELI TEEN WOUNDED IN OLD CITY STABBING RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
by Arutz Sheva Staff
An Israeli teenager wounded in last Friday's terrorist attack in the Old City of Jerusalem has been discharged from the hospital, after recovering from stab wounds suffering in the attack.
Officials from the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem announced Wedneday afternoon that 16-year-old Yisrael Meir Nachumberg, one of two victims in last week's terror attack, had recovered and has been released from the hospital.
During the attack, which was carried out by a 19-year-old Palestinian Authority resident, Nachumberg was moderately wounded when the terrorist jump him from a side street in the Old City as he was riding his bike from synagogue after morning prayers back to his yeshiva.
After he stopped for a moment, the terrorist attacked him, stabbing Nachumberg in the back, leaving him in moderate condition.
The terrorist also stabbed 50-year-old Gavriel Lavi during the attack.
Lavi was initially listed in critical condition, but has improved over the past few days, and is no longer relying on a respirator to breathe.
During the attack, Israeli police officers opened fire on the terrorist, killing him on the spot.

2. FLORIDA OFFICER WHO AVOIDED PARKLAND SHOOTER ARRESTED, INDICTED
by David Rosenberg
A former law enforcement official who remained outside of a Parkland, Florida high school during a deadly mass shooting there last year has been arrested and indicted on 11 criminal charges for failing to protect students.
On February 14th of last year, former student Nikolas Cruz entered the Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida carrying a semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle.
Cruz opened fire on students and faculty, murdering 17 and wounding 17 more.
During the shooting, the on-site security and law enforcement official, school resource officer Scot Peterson, failed to enter the building where the mass shooting occurred.
As security camera footage from the school confirmed, Peterson, a deputy of the Broward County Sheriff's Office, remained outside of building number 12 during the duration of the shooting, radioing in updates to the sheriff's office.
Eight days after the shooting, Peterson was suspended without pay by Sheriff Scott Israel.
Authorities launched an investigation into the police response to the massacre – including Peterson's refusal to enter the building where the shooting was taking place.
On Tuesday, the fourteen-month investigation, which questioned 184 witnesses, culminated in the arrest of the Peterson, who has been charged with 11 counts of child neglect, negligence, and perjury.
If found guilty on all charges, Peterson, now 56 years old, could potentially face up to 100 years in prison.
Investigators found Peterson "did absolutely nothing to mitigate" the shooting, Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Rick Swearingen said in a statement.
"There can be no excuse for his complete inaction and no question that his inaction cost lives.
A police union representative from the Broward Sheriff's Office union criticized the indictment, saying it could set a dangerous precedent for officers assigned to protect schools, WPTV reported.
"Does this now mean that every police officer from now on that works to detail where children are present are now subjected to child neglect charges if something happens?"

3. GAFNI: LIBERMAN WAS PRACTICALLY A PART OF UNITED TORAH JUDAISM
by Haim Lev
Finance Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni (UTJ) on Wednesday responded to the commotion regarding MK Bezalel Smotrich's (United Right) statement that his party "want to return the Torah to its foundation."
Speaking to attendees of an Eilat conference, Gafni said his party is not interested in turning Israel into a "state of Jewish law."
"I never said that, I've seen a lot of coalition agreements for UTJ and it was never even hinted that UTJ would want Israel to be a state of Jewish law," Gafni told participants.
"It's true that there are those who want to make religion and state into a public issue, at any price, but we have a very clear goal of keeping the status quo, and this is what needs to continue. We want a Jewish and democratic state, we're not bringing the Holy Temple or the messiah by saying it or via laws, and so all discussions regarding a state of Jewish law are incorrect. We never asked and we do not ask for a state of Jewish law, we do not ask for a change and certainly we don't want a change for the worse."
Regarding the haredi parties' demand to separate men and women, Gafni said, "A woman comes and says, 'I want to make a Simchat Beit Hashoeva celebration for my friends, I don't want there to be men,' and then Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber comes along and said she can't do it. So I want to say, I was born in Tel Aviv, I lived in Ofakim, and no one will tell me or my wife how to live. Why does she think I'm going to tell [them]? Because I'm haredi? Such a thing never was and never will be."
Slamming Yisrael Beytenu Chairman Avigdor Liberman, Gafni continued, "When we talk about Liberman, we talk about the lack of trust, about the lies, about the hypocrisy. He lives with us, things were almost worked out, he was almost part of UTJ, and suddenly with no prior warning he changed. He's not harming the Torah world, he's harming the country, he's hypocritical and lies and doesn't say the truth. He makes Israel into a third-world country."
4. FLORIDA DROPS AIRBNB FROM BLACKLIST AFTER SETTLEMENTS BAN NIXED
by Marcy Oster, JTA
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that he would remove Airbnb from the state's blacklist of companies that boycott Israel.
The state suspended the use of Airbnb for state-paid travel and had considered preventing its pension fund from investing in the firm when it goes public, reportedly by 2020, after it announced in November 2018 that it would remove listings of rooms and homes for rent in Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria. Airbnb said at the time that it consulted with experts to learn about the historical disputes in the region to decide whether it should be doing business in "the occupied territories."
DeSantis and his Cabinet in January voted to place the company on the list of scrutinized companies following a recommendation by the state Board of Administration.
The company announced in April that it would keep the listings in Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria and donate any profits from them to humanitarian groups. The decision appears to be part of settlements between Airbnb and two groups of American Jewish plaintiffs who had sued the company.
"As Governor, I have an obligation to oppose policies that unfairly target Israel. Once @Airbnb ended their discriminatory policy toward Israel, we decided to remove them from the @FloridaSBA Scrutinized Companies List," DeSantis tweeted on Tuesday.
In a statement in April, Airbnb said that it does not support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel.
"Airbnb has always opposed the BDS movement," the statement reads. "Airbnb has never boycotted Israel, Israeli businesses, or the more than 20,000 Israeli hosts who are active on the Airbnb platform. We have always sought to bring people together and will continue to work with our community to achieve this goal."
5. US TO PRESS RUSSIA ON IRANIAN PRESENCE IN SYRIA
by Ben Ariel
A senior White House official said in a conference call with reporters on Tuesday that the US plans to stress to Russia during its trilateral national security advisers summit in Jerusalem this month that Iranian forces and their proxies have to leave Syria, Axios reported.
The trilateral meeting between the national security advisers of Israel, the US and Russia in late June is an unprecedented event. The White House official said the main focus of the summit will be Syria and Iran's activities in Syria, Lebanon and the rest of the region.
Israel wants to use the summit to push the US and Russia closer together in order to get a deal on Syria that would push Iranian forces out of the country, noted Axios.
The White House official said on Tuesday that the US and Israel are waiting to hear what proposals Russia will bring to the meeting.
National security adviser John Bolton is going to stress during the summit that Iran is not playing any positive role in Syria or the region as a whole, according to the official. The official added that the Trump administration is very concerned with Iranian actions in Syria and supports Israeli airstrikes against Iranian military entrenchment in the country.
"We are sure the Iranians are not happy that this meeting is taking place and that the Israelis are publicly hosting the Americans and the Russians together in Jerusalem to talk about Iran. The fact the Russians are attending this meeting is important in itself," said the official.
While Iranian leaders deny that the Islamic Republic has a military presence in Syria, Iran is a key supporter of President Bashar Al-Assad's regime, having providing the regime with both financial aid and military advisers against a range of opposing forces since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011.
Near the start of the Syrian civil war, it was reported that then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had personally sanctioned the dispatch of officers from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to Syria to fight alongside Assad's troops.
Ali Akbar Velayati, a top aide to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made clear last summer that Iran would withdraw its "military advisers" from Syria and Iraq only if their governments wanted it to.
Russia also has a strong military presence in Syria and is a close ally of Assad as well. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has held several meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the presence of Iran in Syria.

7. UNUSUAL STATEMENT ATTRIBUTED TO ISRAEL AIR FORCE COMMANDER
by Mordechai Sones
The Israel Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin uttered an interesting statement during the ceremony exchanging the commander of the Ramat David base last week.
According to a Kann 11 report, the Air Force Commander said "In the last two years ... these were wing 1 squadrons who sought contact, initiated and stretched the IAF's operational reach ... as in the north, so in the Gaza Strip and even in the Red Sea."
Norkin apparently was referring to helicopters of the naval reconnaissance squadron operating with naval vessels in the Gulf, but to admit activity in the Red Sea - especially on the background of the tensions in the Gulf - is exceptional.
Kann also revealed that the information identifying Iran as responsible for sabotaging vessels off the United Arab Emirates near the Straits of Hormuz also originates from information collected by the Israeli Mossad.
The United States is planning to reveal in coming days information that will indicate that Iran is responsible for the actions against the tankers, apparently before the UN Security Council.

The United States is planning to reveal in coming days information that will indicate that Iran is responsible for the actions against the tankers, apparently before the UN Security Council.

by Arutz Sheva Staff
Outgoing Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (New Right) bid farewell to the ministry and senior justice officials Tuesday at a special gathering featuring Justice Ministry director-general Emi Palmor, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, and state prosecutor Shai Nitzan.
During her address at the farewell gathering, Shaked hint at her plans to win a spot in the next Knesset in this September's elections – and return as Justice Minister.
"It is no secret that I loved working in this ministry, and that I had planned to continue working here, putting all my strength into it for the next four years. I had specific plans for continuing my work, but unfortunately they fell apart," said Shaked, referring to the New Right's failure to pass the electoral threshold in this April's election, leaving her and Education Minister Naftali Bennett out of the 21st Knesset.
"To my replacement – when he will come – I say: you're getting a ministry that is in very good condition, first-hand from the producer. Take care of it – and I'm not going to hide the fact that I have some personal interest in this request. I definitely plan on coming back here."
Despite having lost their seats in the Knesset, Shaked and Bennett continued to serve as Justice and Education ministers respectively, after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu failed to cobble together a new government, leading Israel back to elections.
On Sunday, however, Netanyahu dismissed both Shaked and Bennett, giving them forty-eight hours notification of their termination from his government.
While Shaked has expressed an interest in returning to the Knesset – and resuming her work as Justice Minister – it is unclear if she will be recruited by the Likud, or continue with the New Right party.
The Likud itself has sent mixed signals regarding the possibility of securing Shaked a spot high on its Knesset list.

2. HEAVY METAL SINGER SLAMS ROGER WATERS AND 'NAZI COMRADES' IN BDS
by David Rosenberg
[youtube:2058827:127]
The front man for the heavy metal band "Disturbed" excoriated Pink Floyd's Roger Waters – a longtime critic of Israel – and other supporters of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, comparing them to Nazis.
Speaking in an online interview with the Facebook group "Bring Disturbed to Israel", lead singer David Draiman described his work to combat efforts to pressure recording artists to boycott Israel.
"I sit on the advisory board for the Creative Community for Peace," said Draiman.
"Every time that a rock band is about to visit Israel, I'm one of the first people to contact them to try and reassure them, to make sure that BDS doesn't end up getting in their heads, and that they don't end up listening to the ridiculous words of Mr. Roger Waters and the rest of his gang of morons."
"To elaborate a little bit on it, besides just my aggressive stance against" BDS, Draiman continued, "I don't think anybody in any country always agrees with everything their country does — I don't, okay? But I'm a very, very strong supporter of Israel forever and for our people. And regardless of whether it's Israel or anywhere else, boycotting an entire society and an entire people based on the actions of its government is absolutely ridiculous. And it doesn't accomplish anything."
Draiman also ripped the BDS movement for the selective targeting of Israel, noting that oppressive governments like China's had not elicited similar calls for boycotts, despite their controversial treatment of Muslim Uyghurs.
"I don't see boycotts happening of Russia; I don't see boycotts happening of many of some of the countries that have some of the most oppressive, closed-off regimes in existence on the face of the planet, where LGBTQ people are persecuted, where all kinds of minorities are persecuted. I don't see people boycotting China for what they're doing to their Muslim population. It's just Israel that gets this treatment, and I think we all know the reason behind that."
"There's a special hatred that exists for the Jewish people in this world, and it unfortunately can't be explained. It's something that has lasted and has been deep seated for centuries, and that's part of our burden as a people, unfortunately."
The Disturbed front man went on call Roger Waters' allies in the BDS movement "his Nazi comrades".
"You can't accomplish anything in terms of trying to create peace, in terms of trying to create understanding by shutting things off. There has to be open roads of communication. You build bridges; you don't knock them down. And music and entertainment is the perfect way to bridge that gap. And the very notion that Waters and the rest of his Nazi comrades decide that this is the way to go ahead and foster change is absolute lunacy and idiocy — absolute. It makes no sense whatsoever. It's only based on hatred of a culture and of a people and of a society that have been demonized unjustifiably since the beginning of time.
This is not the first time Draiman has publicly criticized Roger Waters. In 2013, Draiman accused Waters of anti-Semitism over Waters' use of an inflatable pig with a Star of David during a concert.
The 46-year-old Draiman was raised in an Orthodox Jewish home, the grandchild of Holocaust survivors.
In his youth, Draiman studied in Jewish religious schools, including in Israel, before leaving the Orthodox community.
Disturbed is slated to perform in Israel for the first time on July 2nd. The concert is slated to take place at the Live Park in Rishon Letzion.
3. ISRAEL'S FIRST LADY, NECHAMA RIVLIN, PASSES AWAY
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Nechama Rivlin, the First Lady of Israel and the wife of President Reuven Rivlin, died Tuesday morning at the age of 73. She died at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikva, one day before her 74th birthday.
"Unfortunately, all the doctors' efforts to stabilize her during the complex rehabilitation process that followed her transplant failed," hospital officials said.
"The medical teams of the chest, lung, cardiology and intensive care units did not leave Mrs. Rivlin's bed throughout the period", the staff of Beilinson said, "we treated this wonderful woman with devotion and professionalism".
"This is a sad day for all of us at the medical center. The hospital staff is mourning."
"We embrace the family and send our condolences to the President of the State, their children, grandchildren and family."
Earlier this year, Mrs. Rivlin underwent a single lung transplant at Beilinson. The First Lady had been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, and underwent the operation following a lengthy waiting period to find a donated lung.
While the operation to transplant the lung had been a success, Mrs. Rivlin was left in serious condition, suffering shortness of breath due to cardiac complications, forcing President Rivlin to cut short a State visit abroad.
Nechama was born in 1945 in Moshav Herut in the Sharon region, to Drora and Mendy Shulman, who had immigrated from the Ukraine and were among the founders of the moshav.
In 1964 she began studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, studying natural sciences. She graduated with a BSc in botany and zoology and holds a teaching certificate in these departments.
In 1967 she began working at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as a researcher in the Department of Zoology, and then moved to the Department of Ecology and the Department of Genetics. In addition, Nechama studied the history of art in the fields of modern, classical and ancient art.
In 1971 she married Reuven (Rubi) Rivlin and settled in Jerusalem. Nechama had three children - Rivi (Rivka), Anat and Ran. She was grandmother to Matan, Ziv, Shai, Karni, Maya, Daniela and Yahav, and sister to Varda.
In 2007 Nechama retired and, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable lung disease that required her to use a portable oxygen device. When Nechama moved to Beit HaNasi, she chose to focus on art, activities for children with special needs, the environment and nature, through compassion and love of people.
Nechama was a regular visitor to Israel's cultural institutions, particularly those in Jerusalem, out of true love for art in all its forms. Nechama was particularly fond of the Cinematheque and Smadar cinemas in Jerusalem, where she used to watch films regularly.
Nechama's fondness for Hebrew literature and art led her to write from time to time about writers and artists who particularly appreciated the posts she published on the official Facebook page of the president. She generally began her posts with the words "Hello everyone, Nechama here," and signed them "Yours, Nechama." They became especially beloved to followers of the page and to lovers of culture and art in Israel.
In 2018, Nechama established the President's Award for Hebrew Poetry. On the committee's announcement of the winner Amichai Hasson, Nechama said: "I congratulate the lovers of language and words, the writers and poets who make magic with them and wish that our world will always have people in it who make poetry from it."

4. SECURITY SOURCES: GAZA TERRORISTS REPLENISHED ROCKET STOCKPILES
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Israeli security sources have told the The Wall Street Journal that Gazan terror groups have replenished their stockpiles of rockets.
The terror groups now have the same amount of rockets they had prior to the May attacks on Israeli civilians. In those attacks, Hamas and Islamic Jihad fired over 700 rockets at Israelis, destroying several homes, injuring dozens, and killing four.
According to the WSJ report, the terror groups obtained the rockets by means of smuggling and local production. Many of the rockets are made with easy-to-obtain materials such as pipes and basic explosives.
Kobi Michael, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, warned WSJ that Hamas is "playing with fire."
"They are risking not only themselves and their military leadership....but the people of Gaza," he said.
The report also noted that the stockpile is about 10,000 rockets, most of them short- and medium-range rockets, although hundreds of them can reach the wider Israeli population.
Last month, Islamic Jihad leader Ziad al-Nakhala predicted that a war would break out between Israel and Gaza this summer because of the intention to "disarm the resistance in Gaza."
5. POMPEO CLARIFIES COMMENTS ON PEACE PLAN
by Elad Benari
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday clarified comments he shared with Jewish leaders regarding the Trump administration's peace plan.
On Sunday, The Washington Post quoted comments from an off-the-record meeting held last week between Pompeo and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
"I get why people think this is going to be a deal that only the Israelis could love. I understand the perception of that. I hope everyone will just give the space to listen and let it settle in a little bit," Pompeo was quoted as having said in that report.
On Monday, in an interview with the Sinclair Broadcast Group, Pompeo clarified those statements.
"We have a deep, long relationship with Israel, an important relationship with Israel, and the President has made very clear that that's important to this administration to have that important political, economic, and security relationship with Israel. And we've struggled more with respect to the Palestinians. We've watched their terror activity in the Gaza Strip, and we've pushed back against it. We watched Iran underwrite some of that, and we've pushed back against that," he said.
"So I can see how someone might be concerned that a plan that this administration put forward might, without knowing the true facts of what is contained in the plan, they might perceive that it was going to be fundamentally one-sided. And I was articulating that there because it's just simply not true," explained Pompeo.
"I think there'll be things in this plan that lots of people like, and I am confident, as I said – I think it was quoted in that paper as well – there'll be something in there that everyone will find I'm concerned with. Our idea is to present a vision and to continue to work towards a very, very difficult situation's conclusion," he added.
The contents of the Trump administration's peace plan have yet to be revealed, but the economic part of the plan is set to be unveiled at a conference in Bahrain later this month.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has rejected the US peace plan before it has even been unveiled. The PA has been boycotting the US ever since President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December of 2017.
6. NETANYAHU FIRES MINISTERS NAFTALI BENNETT AND AYELET SHAKED
by David Rosenberg
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has fired ministers Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett, removing the two New Right leaders from his cabinet.
The Prime Minister's Office informed Bennett and Shaked Sunday afternoon that they would no longer be serving as Education Minister and Justice Minister respectively, following the failure of their party to cross the electoral threshold in the April 9th election.
The removal of the two New Right ministers will go into effect on Tuesday.
Bennett and Shaked, who had run in 2015 at the head of the Jewish Home ticket, broke off in December 2018 to form the New Right. While the party initially was projected to win more than 10 seats, the New Right ultimately failed to cross the electoral threshold, leaving Bennett and Shaked out of the 21st Knesset.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that Netanyahu was considering revamping his transitional government ahead of this September's Knesset election, with the aim of strengthening the Likud party's position within the government.
Rabbi Rafi Peretz, chief of the Union of Right-Wing Parties, a joint list of the Jewish Home and National Union, had prepared a letter formally demanding that Netanyahu to fire Shaked and Bennett, and transfer the ministries back to the Jewish Home, giving current Jewish Home MKs the ministries. But Peretz ultimately held off on sending the letter to Netanyahu, after MK Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the National Union faction, urged him not to make the demand formal.
Netanyahu has reportedly refused calls from within the Likud to recruit Shaked into the party and grant her a spot high on the Likud's Knesset slate for the September election.
7. WHAT'S BEHIND NETANYAHU'S DECISION TO FIRE BENNETT AND SHAKED?
by Hezki Baruch
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu fired the two New Right ministers, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and Education Minister Naftali Bennett, from his cabinet Sunday afternoon, after they joined the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday morning for the first time since the April 9th election in which the two failed to retain their Knesset seats.
Netanyahu, outraged by their participation in the cabinet meeting, fired the two ministers shortly afterwards, giving them the 48-hour notification of their termination from the government.
Shaked and Bennett lost their seats after their New Right party narrowly failed to clear the 3.25% electoral threshold in the April elections. Nevertheless, the two retained their ministries in the transitional government, after Netanyahu failed to form a new coalition and dissolved the 21st Knesset.
The Prime Minister has hoped to blunt the two New Right leaders' electoral strength by removing them from his government.
On Sunday morning, Netanyahu urged Union of Right-Wing Parties' chief Rafi Peretz to formally request that Netanyahu fire Shaked and Bennett and transfer their ministries back to the Jewish Home and National Union factions.
At the behest of National Union chief Bezalel Smotrich, however, Peretz did not submit the letter calling for Bennett and Shaked's termination.
Despite the failure of the United Right to formally demand the ministries, Netanyahu removed Bennett and Shaked, hoping to prevent them from attending this Tuesday's security cabinet meeting.
Following the removal of the two ministers, the United Right has called on Netanyahu to tap MKs Peretz and Smotrich to the Education and Justice ministries respectively.

The German army concluded its annual exercise Monday by firing dozens of Israeli manufacturer Rafael's Spike LR missiles.
The drill took place in the last days of winter in Germany, under harsh weather conditions, and included the firing of 54 Spike missiles by German forces, which launched the missiles from the new Spike missile launchers. The launchers include an innovative digital user interface and spatial and operational capabilities and have been used in the IDF for several years.
During the exercise, the German crews launched the missiles in a variety of complex shooting scenarios, including a concealed target, real-time target-shooting scenarios after firing, firing in total darkness through infrared, in parallel to complex weather conditions including strong winds and rains. The launchers and the targets showed 100% success, with all 54 Spike missiles striking their targets.
Rafael's Spike family of missiles are precision electro-optical, tactical and precision missiles that are widely used by the IDF and many armies around the world, and can be launched from a variety of land, air and sea platforms for ranges of up to 30 kilometers. Spike missiles are suitable for day and night use and against a wide range of targets. To date, Rafael has sold more than 30,000 Spike missiles to 31 countries.

"The Spike missile family has proven its capabilities as a quality and reliable system chosen by 18 member states of the European Union and NATO, in addition to 13 other countries in the world," said Moshe Elazar, Senior Vice President and Head of the Land Division and the Rafael Sea.
"One of the greatest advantages of the spike is its wide distribution, and the reciprocity between the countries that can support each other in providing intercontinental missiles in times of crisis or invasion is a key factor both tactically and economically."

President Donald Trump excoriated London Mayor Sadiq Khan Monday morning, just minutes before Air Force One landed at Stansted Airport near the British capital, kicking off the president's state visit to the UK.
In a tweet released shortly before touching down at Stansted, Trump responded to comments by Mayor Khan in which he compared the US president to World War II-era fascists, calling the London mayor a "stone cold loser."
"Sadiq Khan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly 'nasty' to the visiting President of the United States," Trump tweeted Monday morning, "by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me."
Trump went on to excoriate New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, a progressive Democrat and frequent critic of the president, calling him "very dumb and incompetent".
"Kahn reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job - only half his height. In any event, I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit. Landing now!"
The comments come two days after Khan wrote an op-ed for The Guardian in which he compared Trump to "European dictators of the 1930s and 40s" and "the military juntas of the 1970s and 80s."
"Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat," Khan continued. "The far-right is on the rise around the world, threatening our hard-won rights and freedoms and the values that have defined our liberal, democratic societies for more than seventy years. Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine Le Pen in France and Nigel Farage here in the UK are using the same divisive tropes of the fascists of the 20th century to garner support, but are using new sinister methods to deliver their message. And they are gaining ground and winning power and influence in places that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago."
The two leaders have trade jibes in the past, and in 2017 Khan urged the British government to cancel its invitation to President Trump.
"I don't think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for," Khan said.
2. MAN ARRESTED FOR SAYING KADDISH ON TEMPLE MOUNT
by Arutz Sheva Staff
A young man was arrested Sunday for saying Kaddish on the Temple Mount.
The young man was released Monday under restrictive conditions banning him from the Temple Mount for a week.
Attorney Nati Rom, who represented the detainee on behalf of the Honenu organization, said: "In the morning, a group of Jews entered the Temple Mount accompanied by police, with dozens of Arabs yelling at them 'Allahu Akbar' disturbing the public order. After a long time, when they were in an isolated corner, the man prayed to his Creator."
"Unfortunately, the Israel Police chose to detain those who were attacked while using violence during the arrest, and not to delay even one of the Muslim rioters who shouted at the group," the lawyer added.
"We hope that on the next Jerusalem Day the Temple Mount will not be only in the hands of the Muslim rioters, but also allow freedom of worship and movement for the Jewish people in the holy city," he said.
3. 31 DRUG TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED IN UNDERCOVER OPERATION
by Arutz Sheva Staff
31 drug trafficking suspects were arrested Monday morning in the culmination an undercover operation.
The Central District of the Northern District Police operated an undercover agent who was intermingled in the criminal world for an period of time.
The police raided the homes of the suspects and arrested 31 residents of Migdal Ha'emek, Afula, Yokne'am, Upper Nazareth, Beit Shean, Yafia, Busmat Tivon and Kiryat Haim. In addition, many drugs of various kinds were seized, and two vehicles belonging to them were confiscated.
The undercover agent was employed with them in a meticulous and controlled manner for many months, during which he acquired the trust of the offenders and acted in their surroundings. The agent was able to obtain from the suspects on several occasions dangerous drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy, MDMA, hashish and marijuana, and collected evidence on them.
"The Israel Police will continue to employ a variety of operational and intelligence means to combat serious crime," said the Israel Police, adding: "This operation, in which an agent was employed, joins a long list of activities and operations carried out by the Israel Police in recent years in order to enable a normal and safe life for law-abiding citizens and to bring the perpetrators to justice. "
4. HOW HEVRON WAS TAKEN 52 YEARS AGO WITHOUT FIRING A SINGLE SHOT
by Eliana Rudee
While the holiday of "Jerusalem Day" was marked with great fanfare on Sunday, June 2nd, Monday marks the 52nd anniversary of "Hevron Day" when the IDF liberated Israel's second-holiest city in a thrilling military conquest.
The story of the liberation of Hevron during the Six Day War is nothing short of miraculous, as a single Israeli soldier seized the entire city of Hevron without having to fire a shot.
On June 8, 1967, the Chief Rabbi (and General) of the Israel Defense Forces, Rabbi Shlomo Goren, drove into the city, greeted by the sight of white sheets hung from rooftops and windows throughout the city. He understood that the 1967 Arabs of Hevron surrendered, frightened of Jewish retaliation (decades prior, Arab residents of Hevron had massacred 67 Jews).
Upon Jordanian surrender, Rabbi Goren and a small group of soldiers entered the Tomb of Machpelah to blow the shofar and read from the Torah, just as they had 24 hours prior, when he had taken part in the liberation of the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
According to the Hebron Fund, "this marked the first time in 700 years that Jews, Christians and non-Muslims were permitted to freely enter and pray in the Cave of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs," as the ancient building had been restricted by the Mamluks who invaded from Egyptian centuries before and forbade any Jew, Christian or non- Muslim to pray closer than the seventh step.
Until 1967, Muslims controlled the building and did not let Jews enter their holy site - they could only pray outside of the Cave of Machpela and could not go past the infamous "seventh step" of the staircase leading to the tomb. Those who attempted to go past the seventh step were beaten by the Arab guards stationed in the area.
Finally, Jews had returned to their precious Hevron and Tomb of Machpela. Jews and Israelis see the day as proof of God's hand in the land. According to Rabbi Goren, after he hung an Israeli flag outside of the Tomb and brought a Sefer Torah (Torah scroll) inside, Minister of Defense Moshe Dayan ordered him to take down the flag and remove the Sefer Torah and take off his shoes before entering, as the site had been a mosque. Rabbi Goren refused, so Dayan sent an officer into Hevron to remove the objects. After that officer was killed in a car accident on his way back from Jerusalem, Dayan rescinded his order to remove shoes in the Tomb.
Today, 700,000 tourists per year visit Hevron to peek into the past and see for themselves the renewal of Jewish communities in the area. Tours of ancient Hevron are available year round, with popular sites including museums, synagogues, archaeological sites and of course, the Tomb of the Patriarchs.
According to Yishai Fleisher, the international spokesman of the Jewish community of Hevron, "while Jerusalem is theological - where God is - Hevron is genealogical - where the founders of our nation followed God and became the first commonwealth in the land. In some ways, Hevron is the ancestor of Jerusalem and now, we are back there today."
Fleisher told Breaking Israel News, "Just as we have returned to Jerusalem to live there, so too have we returned to Hevron, where we have done a lot to normalize Jewish life. While Jerusalem is important to us as our ancient capital and seat of the Temple, Hevron is David's first capital and the seat of the forefathers and mothers."
According to Fleisher, one who visits Hevron will learn about "Jewish continuity and connection to the people who started it all," adding, "that's the real gift of Hevron."
Approximately 700,000 people per year visit Hevron, located about an hour's drive south of Jerusalem.
Tourists and locals alike, interested in sightseeing and participating in prayer services with experienced and local guides can book a tour with the Hebron Fund. Special coach buses depart from weekly from Jerusalem.
In honor of "Hevron Day", the Jewish community of Hevron celebrated on the evening of June 2nd, commemorating Hevron's 52nd year of liberation. The Jewish community of Hevron celebrated Yom Hevron with parades, inflatables for kids, food and games.

5. 'GOD DECIDED TO INTERVENE'
by Hezki Baruch
Outgoing Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (New Right) hinted Sunday evening that she is preparing to make a final decision regarding the future of her political career and which party she will run with in the elections to the 22nd Knesset this September.
Speaking at an event of New Right party activists in Tel Mond in central Israel, Shaked alluded to her impending decision, saying she needed "a few days" to decide what path to take ahead of the next election.
"After the loss" in April's election to the 21st Knesset, Shaked told party activists, "everyone did some soul-searching."
"I want to take a few days to think so I can decide what is best to do. There is no reason for new elections now, except that God decided to intervene."
Both Shaked and outgoing Education Minister Naftali Bennett, chairman of the New Right party, spoke at the event, which brought together some 50 party activists.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu dismissed both Bennett and Shaked from his government.
The Prime Minister's Office later said that Netanyahu would fill the vacancies by the time the dismissals go into effect on Tuesday.
Shaked and Bennett, who broke off from the Jewish Home last December to form the New Right, were appointed to their respective ministries while still serving in the Jewish Home.
The Jewish Home has called on Netanyahu to fill the vacancies at the Education and Justice ministries with Jewish Home chief Rafi Peretz and National Union chairman Bezalel Smotrich.

8. CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS TRY TO TIE ISRAEL TO PITTSBURGH MASSACRE
by JTA
Far-left Democrats in California have put forth draft resolutions fiercely critical of Israel ahead of this weekend's state party convention, including one suggesting that the Israeli government is partly responsible for the atmosphere inspiring last October's massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
One resolution, first reported by Fox News, calls the murder of 11 Jews by a white supremacist "the culmination of an alarming re-emergence of virulent antisemitism that is a core element of historical and currently resurgent white supremacism in the United States and around the world." The "Israeli government, along with some of its U.S. backers," the resolution continues, "welcomed support from Christian fundamentalist and ultra-right groups in the United States and abroad, dangerously ignoring their deeply rooted antisemitism while aligning with their virulent Islamophobia."
That platform resolution was authored by David Mandel, a state Assembly delegate from the Sacramento area who Fox says holds dual U.S.-Israel citizenship.
"The Israeli government and its supporters here seem to be embracing the right wing and not caring what they say about anything else — Islamophobia, dog whistles for anti-Semitism," Mandel told Fox when asked about the Pittsburgh connection. "That, I think, does indirectly lead to some of the violence."
Other resolutions to be introduced at the San Francisco confab urge a rollback of President Donald Trump's Israel policies, including recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights; condemn Israel for clashes with Gaza terrorists without mentioning provocations or attacks by the Hamas leadership there; and direct party officials to take a subsidized trip to Israel only if they spend the same amount of time visiting Palestinian Authority villages and leaders.
Mandel's resolution opposes "all efforts to stigmatize and suppress support for Palestinian human rights by falsely conflating it with antisemitism."
The latter is a reference to criticism of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who apologized after fellow Democrats and others said she had invoked several anti-Semitic tropes in her criticism of US supporters of Israel.
Whether the resolutions will be debated by the full assembly of 3,000-4,000 delegates at the Moscone Convention Center is up to a Resolutions Committee. Delegates have the option of gathering 300 signatures to force a debate on the floor.
The Jewish Democratic Council of America expressed "deep concern" about reports of the resolutions.
"We urge the California Democratic Party not to fall into the trap of letting Republicans divide us on Israel and the fight against anti-Semitism," Halie Soifer, the council's executive director, said in a statement. "Nearly all extremist violence in the United States, including attacks on Jews and Muslims, have come from right-wing extremists."
She added: "While Republicans continue to attempt to turn Israel into a partisan wedge issue, the Democratic Party remains staunchly pro-Israel. The Democratic Platform adopted in 2016 affirms that 'we will always support Israel's right to defend itself, including by retaining its qualitative military edge, and oppose any effort to delegitimize Israel, including at the United Nations or through the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement.'"
The current California Democratic state platform, adopted in 2018, supports "a solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict negotiated by the parties that guarantees equality, security and democracy for all, recognizes Israel's future as a secure and democratic Jewish state with recognized borders and provides the Palestinians with independence, sovereignty and dignity."
It also regards Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, but says the relocation of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem "should not remove [Jerusalem] from final status negotiations, nor should it be used to undermine the peace process."
In 2018, the delegates also adopted two resolutions, neither of which made it into the platform, that were opposed by many in the pro-Israel camp. One opposed federal bills targeting the boycott (BDS) movement, and the other proposed a federal bill preventing Israel from using U.S. tax dollars to detain Palestinian Arab children.
The Progressive Zionists of the California Democratic Party urged party members to oppose the Israel resolutions.
"These six anti-Israel resolutions divide us rather than bring us together," the group said in a statement to the Jewish News Syndicate. "They give no care for the human rights, self-determination, and safety of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland. As they all demonize Israel and hold Palestinian leadership completely harmless, one resolution even calls for the destruction of Israel as the Jewish state."
Democratic presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders are expected to attend the convention.

2. THE SURPRISING POLITICAL COMEBACK
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Former Education Minister Naftali Bennett has already decided to run for the 22nd Knesset. According to a Yediot Ahronot report on Friday morning, Bennett tried to form a joint run of several right-wing parties under the name "United Right Front" even before it was finally decided that the Knesset would be dispersed.
Bennett met on Thursday with Moshe Feiglin (Zehut) and is scheduled to meet next week with Rabbi Rafi Peretz (Jewish Home) and Bezalel Smotrich (National Union).
Bennett also intends to contact Otzma Yehudit headed by Itamar Ben-Gvir. In the past, Bennett has ruled out a joint run with Ben-Gvir and his partners, but this time he may act differently.
The report also said that the Union of Right-Wing Parties made arrangements on Thursday to establish a headquarters for the election campaign, and Jewish Home initiated talks to decide if the party's representatives on the list would be a copy of the existing list or whether the party would hold primaries.
3. FACEBOOK'S SHERYL SANDBERG TO VISIT ISRAEL
by Sara Rubenstein
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, in visiting Israel in August, according to a report by the Hebrew business magazine The Marker on Saturday. Sandberg, 50, considered one of the most powerful women in Silicon Valley and in the corporate world in general, will be in Israel for a few days in the context of a family trip.
According to The Marker, it's unknown whether Sandberg is planning on combining business and pleasure to schedule business meetings during her trip to the Holy Land or visit Israel's Facebook development center. Her visit is bound to attract much attention since it is apparently her first visit to Israel since she became the COO of Facebook in 2008.
Sandberg, a billionaire, was named in Time 100 in 2012 as one of the most influential people in the world. Prior to joining Facebook, she was a VP at Google. In 2007, Facebook's founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, met Sandberg at a party and later hired her as Facebook's COO. Sandberg was instrumental in forging the path to Facebook's profitability.
Sandberg is considered a proponent of female empowerment, especially after the release of her best-selling book in 2013: Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. In 2015, Sandberg's husband, Dave Goldberg, died suddenly while they were on vacation, leaving her alone with two young children. Sandberg subsequently released her second book, Option B in 2017, (co-authored with Professor Adam Grant) which also quickly became a best-seller, describing how she coped with the death of her husband and the nature of resilience.

7. IDF ATTACKS TARGETS IN SYRIA
by Ben Ariel

The IDF attacked a number of military targets in Syria overnight Saturday in response to the firing of two rockets from Syrian territory at Mount Hermon in the northern Golan Heights on Saturday night, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.
One of the rockets that had been fired from Syrian was located in Israeli territory, the statement said.
According to the statement, Israeli warplanes and helicopters attacked a number of military targets belonging to the Syrian army, including two artillery batteries, a number of observation and intelligence posts on the Golan Heights, and an SA-2 air defense battery.
During the attack, an IDF air defense system was launched following Syrian anti-aircraft fire. No explosions were identified in Israeli territory.
"The IDF views the Syrian regime as responsible for any action against Israel from Syrian territory and will act aggressively against any action from its territory. The IDF will continue to act against any attempt to harm the citizens of Israel and its territory and is obligated to protect the security of Israeli citizens," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said.
A Syrian military source quoted on Syria's news agency said that three soldiers were killed and seven wounded in the Israeli air strike.
Earlier, Syrian media reported that the country's air defense systems had been activated against "enemy targets" in southern Damascus.
It was also reported that explosions were heard in the area.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Syrian opposition organization based in Britain, reported that "Israel attacked a concentration of forces belonging to Hezbollah and Iran in the suburbs of Damascus."
On Saturday night, two projectiles were launched from Syria towards Mount Hermon. There were no injuries.
The IDF is investigating, but believes that the missiles were intentionally aimed at Israel, since there has been no fighting on the Syrian side of the border.
Initially it was believed that one of the missiles may have exploded in Israeli territory, while the other exploded in Syria. Later, it was confirmed that both exploded in the IDF military zone near Mount Hermon.
On Monday, the IDF confirmed that it had launched an air strike targeting a Syrian missile launcher following an attack on an Israeli aircraft. The missile did not strike the plane and landed in Syria.
8. HANEGBI: WE MIGHT FORM A GOVERNMENT WITH BENNY GANTZ
by Ben Ariel
Minister Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud) on Saturday night suggested that Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz not personally disqualify Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu because after the elections, a unity government could be formed.
"We never personally disqualified Benny Gantz," Hanegbi said in an interview on Channel 12 News, adding that the members of Blue and White were wrong when they ruled out the possibility of sitting in a coalition led by Netanyahu.
"They disqualified Bibi because they thought it would cause a change within the Likud, they did not understand the soul of the Likud," claimed Hanegbi.
He suggested that Gantz "flip the switch and say, 'I will be willing to sit in a government with Netanyahu.' We will have a unity government with impressive achievements."
The Likud expressed reservations about Hanegbi's remarks, saying, "Minister Hanegbi's remarks are his own opinion. The Likud and the prime minister want to establish a strong right-wing government led by a large Likud and under the leadership of Netanyahu, as the people chose."
