1. VICTIMS OF FATAL CRASH WERE NEW IMMIGRANTS FROM FRANCE
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The victims of a fatal accident Thursday afternoon in southern Israel have been identified as new immigrants, who moved from France to Israel three months ago.
Two girls, ages four and seven, were killed in the crash, which occurred on the Arava road, Route 90, near Ein Yahav.
Five other people were injured in the accident, including two in serious condition, two more who were moderately injured, and one in light condition. Initially, three people had been listed in serious condition.
According to a report by Channel 12, the two girls killed in the accident had immigrated with their family to Israel from France three months ago, and were driving down from Tel Aviv to Eilat for a vacation.
The girls' parents were both moderately injured, while their one-year-old brother was lightly injured.
Two people in the second vehicle involved in the accident were injured, one seriously the other critically.
The victims of the accident were treated at the scene by MDA and IDF emergency first responders before being evacuated by IDF and MDA helicopters to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva.
"I was driving with my family back home from a vacation in Eilat," said MDA paramedic Raanan Hacham. "Near Paran I spotted a serious accident, with two cars which had collided head-on. In one car in the field near the road a man and woman were trapped, and next to the second car, which was on the shoulder, there were additional injured people lying on the ground. I immediately stopped and made a quick scan of the area to get an idea of the situation of the injured."
"With the help of an army medical team which arrived and an MDA unit from nearby towns, we provided medical treatment to the injured, performed extensive resuscitation techniques on two girls, ages four and seven, but in the end we were forced to declare them dead. An MDA helicopter and army helicopters landed at the scene and evacuated five injured to Soroka Hospital, including three people in serious condition and two more in moderate condition."

Knesset Member May Golan (Likud) spoke at the Chovevei Zion and Arutz Sheva conference in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem last night.
"I started ten years ago as a social activist from South Tel Aviv," Golan said, "who marched the street, rallied, fought against illegal infiltration to Israel, led to the fact that the border was finally up and strong, and today to be one of the 120 in the Knesset, and to actually represent the ideals and values of the people who support and love the country of Israel, not just in Israel but from the world, is first of all amazing, it's not easy, and it's not easy to start elections again, but I truly, truly believe in what we do."
3. SMOTRICH CALLED ON PERETZ TO FIRE SENIOR AIDE, PERETZ REFUSED
by Arutz Sheva Staff
National Union Chairman Bezalel Smotrich has appealed to Chairman of the United Right Rabbi Rafi Peretz, threatening to break up the partnership between them if Peretz does not fire his chief of staff, whom he claims is responsible for the briefing last night.
According to Channel 13, Peretz told Smotrich that the briefing had not been given in accordance with his opinion, but that he did not intend to fire the chief of staff.
Earlier, Peretz tried to calm the flames and wrote on Twitter: "In recent months Bezalel and I have been walking shoulder to shoulder despite attempts to split the unity of the camp."
"I reject all the announcements that were issued last night. We will continue to be partners and enter the government together just as we have gone together all along," promised the chairman of the Jewish Home.
MK Smotrich thanked Rabbi Peretz, saying: "Absolutely no one will be able to divide us and drill a hole in the religious Zionist ship. Unity is more important than anything else. Anyone who tries to do this must be out today! Otherwise, it won't stop. It is our responsibility and we owe it to the public and the people of Israel."
4. MEDICAL CLOWNING PIONEER PATCH ADAMS SENDS RIVLIN CONDOLENCES
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Dr. Hunter Patch Adams (known as Patch Adams) eulogized yesterday, Wednesday, the late Nechama Rivlin, the wife of the President. He spoke about the strong impression that Nechama Rivlin had left on him, on the deep and sincere dialogue he was able to hold with her, and he sought to strengthen President Reuven Rivlin and the entire nation in Israel during this difficult time.
Dr. Patch Adams, one of the pioneers of medical clowning in the world, who was known for the Hollywood film named after him, in which the late actor Robin Williams portrayed him, received, two years ago, the Life Achievement Award for 2017 from the Danielle Foundation in recognition of his life's work to promote 'Medicine with a Heart', and his extraordinary attention to patients in all parts of the world.
President Ruvi Rivlin presented the award to Dr. Adams, and the President's wife Nechama also participated in the ceremony. After receiving the award, Adams was invited to the President's residence for a meal together with the president and his wife.
"I have a picture of the two of us embracing, and you can see an excited spark in her eyes... I remember the encounter between us as a meeting of love and peace," Adams said in his recorded words. He concluded his message with the concluding words of one of Pablo Neruda's love sonnets "live in my absence as in a house..."
Absence is such a large house
that you'll walk through the walls,
hang pictures in sheer air.
Absence is such a transparent house
that even being dead, I will see you there,
and if you suffer, Love, I'll die a second time.
"The Danielle Prize - Healing with a Heart" is awarded annually to 12 medical personnel, each year from a different medical field. This year, the prize will be awarded to family physicians who excel in devoted care of patients and their families. The award is given in memory of the late Danielle Sonnenfeld, a volunteer in the oncology ward at the Schneider Children's Hospital, who was killed in a car accident on her way home at the end of a day of volunteering, at the age of 20.

A fire has raged since Wednesday night in the hills of Itamar in Samaria
So far, about 7,000 dunams (1,700 acres) of farmland and pastures have been burned. It is estimated that the damage to the farmers in the area is over NIS 700,000.
"This is the fourth fire to break out in 4 days, endangering residents and families, destroying years worth of work by farmers. The heart breaks," said Iyar Segal, a resident of the Itamar hills. "We expect the Civil Administration, the IDF and police to arrest the arsonists with a strong hand, and to assist the farmers and residents."
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, said: "The heart breaks to see thousands of dunams of farmland and pasture burning. I demand an investigation into the matter to find the culprits and bring them to trial. The farmers, who really sacrifice themselves to work the land and make desolation bloom, cannot be the last ones on the food chain. They should be helped and the fires should be stopped in every possible way. "

Firefighting teams are currently trying to control a major fire that broke near the Moshavim of Even Sapir, Ora and Aminadav, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Police forces evacuated a number of houses of their occupants following the fire that raged in the vicinity of Even Sapir, Ora and Aminadav. The entrance to the site was blocked to allow firefighters to enter.
16 firefighting teams are working at the scene. 6 firefighting helicopters were also dispatched to help the firefighters on the ground.
Police said, "Residents who evacuated independently are asked to leave the doors of their homes without locking them in order to facilitate police search operations. We urge citizens to refrain from going to areas where there are fires and to obey police orders."
At the same time, firefighters managed to subdue another fire that raged in the area of the Lifta at the entrance to Jerusalem.

7. ANALYSIS: IRAN'S THREAT TO ISRAEL CONTINUES TO GROW
by Yochanan Visser
For the third time in one week a confrontation between the pro-Iranian axis and Israel took place in Syria and it looks as though Iran is preparing for the opening of a new front against the Jewish state on the Golan Heights.
After Syrian air defenses tried to down an IAF warplane patrolling the skies in northern Israel at the beginning of last week, two other confrontations took place over the weekend.
On Saturday evening two rockets were fired in the direction of the Israeli Golan Heights with one of them reaching Mount Hermon where it exploded without causing damage or casualties.
The Israeli air force (IAF) responded by launching airstrikes on positions of Hezbollah and the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the vicinity of Damascus, killing three Syrian soldiers and 7 members of Hezbollah and the Quds Force.
The Quds Force and Hezbollah have bases near Al-Husseiniyah and Al-Kiswah south and south-west of Damascus which have been bombed by the IAF before this.
Early Monday morning the IAF again carried out airstrikes against Iran-related targets in Syria.
IAF warplanes launched missiles at the Tiyas or T-4 base near Homs in northwest Syria and reportedly destroyed a weapons storage and several other military facilities belonging to the Quds Force.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 5 casualties as a result of this IAF strike against the Iranian entrenchment in Syria.
It remains unclear if the Israeli warplanes actually entered Syrian airspace. Earlier airstrikes against the T-4 base and other Iranian military facilities in northern Syria have often been carried out from Lebanese airspace after Russia sold its S-300 anti-aircraft missile shield to the Syrian army.
Military experts think it's entirely possible that IAF warplanes still enter Syrian airspace in order to act against the Iranian axis and that the fact that the Syrians never used their S-300 systems against the Israelis indicates the use of the sophisticated anti-aircraft shield requires Russian approval.
The Russian ban on the use of the S-300 system against Israeli warplanes operating in Syria could be the result of understandings reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, observers think.
What is clear, however, is that Iran has no intention of stopping its entrenchment in Syria and is apparently testing Israel's resolve.
The Quds Force is currently establishing a naval base at the port of Tartus in the Latakia Province and is also training Shiite militias in northern Syria in the use of attack drones.
Iran's Iraqi proxy, the Hashd al-Shaabi umbrella organization of predominantly Shiite militias, is slowly taking over eastern Syria and is building a new border crossing near the town of Abukamal on the Iraqi Syrian border.
The construction of the new crossing and a new highway connecting Tehran with the Iraqi border became necessary because the US military controls the At-Tanf border crossing further to the east along the highway from Baghdad to Damascus.
The activities by Hashd al-Shaabi in eastern Syria have already led to the frictions and fighting with the Syrian military which aims to regain control over eastern Syria.
In southern Syria, the Quds Force is currently recruiting former rebels for a new force which is preparing for a confrontation with the Israeli military in the Quneitra region.
The force reportedly has 2,000 fighters at its disposal and consists of 36 local militias whose fighters receive salaries of between $250 and $1,500 per month.
The Iranians, furthermore, deliberately provoked the Israeli military by launching the two missiles Saturday evening and are increasingly threatening the Jewish state via proxies in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah again threatened Israel with war during a speech in honor of al-Quds day and said that in the event of war between Iran and the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia would pay the price.
The Hezbollah boss also said that whenever Israel dared to act against Iranian missile facilities in Lebanon his organization would react "immediately and powerfully."
Israel recently shared intelligence (including satellite images) with the US about the exact locations of the Iranian guided missile facilities in Lebanon and delivered a stern warning to the Lebanese government via the Trump Administration.
In Gaza, meanwhile, the Iranian-backed Palestinian terror organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad continue their low-intensity warfare against Israel by launching incendiary balloons and kites daily. Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar openly admitted Iran was behind the recent escalation with Israel.
"Iran provided us with rockets, and we surprised the world when our resistance targeted Beersheba," Sinwar said adding that "had it not been for Iran, the resistance in Palestine would not have possessed its current capabilities."
The Hamas leader also warned that Tel Aviv would be a prime target in any future confrontation with Israel. Despite countless Israeli airstrikes on military targets in Gaza, Hamas and Islamic Jihad's arsenal of rockets and missiles is still estimated at 20,000 and continues to grow.
Israel now appears to work in tandem with Saudi Arabia to contain Hamas (read Iran) in Gaza.
The Saudi authorities have arrested 60 Hamas operatives over the last two months, media reported.
Israel is ready for any Iranian proxy attack, a senior Israeli navy commander said on Monday but Ron Ben Yishai, one of Israel's military analysts, begs to differ.
In an article for the Hebrew language YNet news site Ben Yishai wrote that "Israel's enemies understand the psychological, spiritual, cultural and political fabric of Israeli society" and the Israeli military is "paralyzed".
The Ynet analyst said that "Iran has a credible capability to threaten Israel with nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles".
His comments came shortly before German Intelligence confirmed Iran has a progressing program for the development of weapons of mass destruction.
