In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Dr. Mordechai Kedar, senior lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University and an expert on the Middle East, explains why the Americans simply can't understand the Arab rejection of the "Deal of the Century."
"When [Hezbollah Secretary-General] Hassan Nasrallah talks about his missiles and his ability to attack Eilat and everything else on the way to Eilat, these are actually the words of his bosses in Iran," Dr. Kedar said. "[Iran] tries to project a threat against America - not against Israel - against America or against [US President Donald] Trump in particular."
"[Iran] is saying to Trump, 'If you try to attack us - meaning Iran - I will make sure that Israel, your beloved country, will pay the price. That's actually what the message is - it's not against Israel - it's actually a message that's directed toward Donald J. Trump.
"The 'Deal of the Century' could be good if it was made by Middle Easterners. The problem was that it was made by the Americans. And Americans, first of all, are suspected of working for their own interests in the Middle East. In the Middle East people are afraid of the conspiracy of Americans and maybe the Israelis as well who concocted this 'Deal of the Century' in order to take advantage of the Arab world. So initially, they relate to such a deal in a very negative way because it came from Washington and maybe from [Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu as well.
"Secondly this deal started with dealing with economic issues because in America people think that money makes the world go around. I have some news for many Americans - in the Middle East money doesn't make the place go around. Here money is maybe in the fourth or fifth priority. Here there are some things which are way above money, above a good life, above health, and above prosperity - the honor of Jerusalem.
"They want to topple Israel by extracting the Jewish heart from Israel. They want to bring the refugees here in order to topple the society of Israel. These things are much more important than a good economy. They'll sacrifice their economy in order to destroy Israel. This is their scale of priorities. Unfortunately, in America, people don't get it and they don't understand that the mere existence of the state of Israel is the problem."
2. POLL: NEW RIGHT WINS SIX KNESSET SEATS
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The Knesset's right-religious bloc would win 66 Knesset seats under the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, while the center-left-Arab bloc would win 54, a new survey showed.
However, if Yisrael Beytenu will not sit together in a coalition with the haredi parties, the right-wing bloc would drop to 57 seats.
The survey, conducted by the Smith Institute for 103 FM Radio, showed the Likud as winning 32 seats, followed by the Blue and White party with 29 seats.
The Joint Arab List would win 10 seats, with Yisrael Beytenu following close behind at nine. Sephardic-haredi Shas would win eight seats, while Ashkenazic-haredi UTJ would win seven. The Labor party would retain its current six seats, and the New Right party would receive six seats as well.
Left-wing Meretz would receive five Knesset seats, while the United Right led by incumbent Rabbi Rafi Peretz and former Prime Minister Ehud Barak's new "Democratic Israel" party would earn four Knesset seats each.
The survey included 597 respondents aged 18 or older who are representative of Israel's population.
3. IRAN SEIZES FOREIGN OIL TANKER IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ
by David Rosenberg
Iran's military seized a foreign tanker in the Strait of Hormuz Thursday, Iranian media outlets reported.
While the ship was not identified, nor its country of origin revealed, the Iranian Fars outlet reported that the ship had a crew of 12, who were taken captive by Iranian military forces.
The ship was carrying one million liters of oil at the time of its capture, Fars said, half of its 2 million liter capacity.
Tehran accused the oil tanker of "smuggling" fuel through the Strait of Hormuz – a crucial international waterway used for transporting roughly one-fifth of the world's oil fuel.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards are said to have intercepted the ship just south of the Iranian island of Larak, in the Strait of Hormuz.
"A foreign vessel smuggling 1m liters of fuel in the Larak Island of the Persian Gulf has been seized," the Fars report claimed. "The vessel that Iran towed to its waters after receiving a distress call was later seized with the order from the court as we found out that it was smuggling fuel."
It is unclear if the vessel is the same ship which Iran earlier this week claimed to have assisted following "technical failure".
The ship, the MT Riah, a United Arab Emirates ship flying under a Panamanian flag, was reported missing last weekend while traveling through the Strait of Hormuz.
4. BARAK: 'THE UNION WITH GESHER IS THE END OF THE LABOR PARTY'
by Hezki Baruch
Democratic Israel Party chairman Ehud Barak responded Friday morning to the union of the Labor Party and the Gesher party of Orly Levy-Abekasis.
"This step may, God forbid, put an end to Labor, the vision and the legacy of the party that established the state in favor of establishing a social niche party," Barak said in a meeting with members of Kibbutz Ein Shemer.
"Orly Levy-Abekasis effectively is giving up on a change of government in Israel and is opening the door to an alliance with [Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu."
On Thursday, Labor Party Chairman MK Amir Peretz convened a joint press conference with chairman of the Gesher party, Orly Levy-Abekasis, who is merging with the Labor Party ahead of the upcoming elections.
"I feel that at this moment, an alliance of renewal is forming, and we have found the way to unite and build a political home for all Israelis," Peretz said at the press conference.
"I stand with excitement and great pride, with Orly Levi Abekasis standing next to me, a pioneering woman with a broad view of social justice rather than charity, of the state's responsibility for the fate of the elderly, the handicapped and young couples."
Levy-Abekasis said, "When I received a proposal from Amir, I felt it was natural to bring down the walls and look for the unifying factor. The merger is the Gesher party with the number one advocate in the social arena."
5. 'HOW A HEAD TRAUMA SET ME STRAIGHT'

Racheli grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Just weeks before her planned post-high-school trip to Israel, she was involved in a major car accident, leaving her with a broken arm and a severe head injury.
After a week in hospital and three months in rehab, Racheli discovered within her soul an inexplicably strong connection to Israel, and she insisted on celebrating her 18th birthday in the Jewish homeland.
Despite severe memory loss and instability in the emotional and social realms due to a frontal lobe injury, Racheli succeeded in reclaiming the second half of her year in Israel, going on to study for her degree in occupational therapy at a university in Melbourne, and making aliyah (immigrating to Israel).
One of the most fascinating elements of Racheli's story is her developing relationship with G-d as a result of the injury. She relates in detail the process she went through to discover that everything G-d does really is for the best.
Tune in to meet a warm, positive and inspiring young woman who doesn't let anything stop her from succeeding at her goals.

6. PM TO DECIDE IF ILHAN OMAR, RASHIDA TLAIB CAN VISIT ISRAEL
by Sara Rubenstein
A day after introducing a pro-BDS resolution in the House, Dem. US Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.) told reporters on Wednesday that she will be visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories in a few weeks. Omar will be accompanied on the trip by Rashida Tlaib, a fellow Dem. congresswoman (MI) of Palestinian origin, who co-sponsored the bill with Omar.
However, the question that hangs in the airs is whether Omar and Tlaib will be allowed into Israel in light of a 2017 law which allows Israeli officials to ban BDS supporters from entering the country. Omar told the Jewish Insider on Wednesday that the Israeli "occupation of Palestinian territories" will be the main point of the trip. "Everything that I hear points to both sides feeling like there is still an occupation," she said.
Israeli officials have used the controversial law to ban BDS supporters from entering Israel over the past two years. However, since the individuals in questions are American politicians, banning them from Israel is bound to cause an international sensation. Due to the special sensitivity of the issue, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will be the one to make the decision in this case whether the congresswomen can enter Israel, according to a Haaretz report on Thursday.
Omar told reporters on Tuesday, that "We are introducing a resolution… to really speak about the American values that support and believe in our ability to exercise our first amendment rights in regard to boycotting. And it is an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support a nonviolent movement, which is the BDS movement."
The resolution that Omar introduced "opposes unconstitutional legislative efforts to limit the use of boycotts to further civil rights at home and abroad. " Although the resolution didn't mention Israel or BDS by name, it was introduced in response to resolutions passed in several states that ban business with companies and individuals who back the BDS movement.
Omar and Tlaib were elected as the first Muslim U.S. congresswomen in November and have spoken out repeatedly against Israel and Jews and in support of the BDS movement since they were elected.
Tlaib was quoted by the Jewish Insider as saying, "My city [of Beit Ur al-Fauqa] is so excited that I am possibly going to come to see her next month. She is so happy. And I am going to take my two wonderful boys… and they are going to meet their great grandmother. So I am really, really excited about that."
Tlaib was widely criticized in May for claiming that her ancestors provided a "safe haven" for Jews after the Holocaust.
"There's always kind of a calming feeling when I think of the tragedy of the Holocaust," Tlaib said, "that it was my ancestors, Palestinians, who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence, in many ways, has been wiped out … in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-Holocaust, post-tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that in many ways."

Yesterday (Tuesday), an IDF operation in collaboration with Shin Bet forces, took place in order to expose a money transfer network in the area of the "Benyamin" and "Ephraim" regional brigades in Judea and Samaria.
The operation exposed a money transfer network from the Gaza Strip to Ramallah, which operated in coordination between senior Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip and their Hamas operatives in Judea and Samaria. The network was operated by a civilian traveling and passport issuing agency named "Al-Haramain", owned by the Hani brothers and Firas Blbiesi, along with a money exchanger named Mohammad Swesi, who all operate from the Gaza Strip.
The exposed network operated under the guise of a civilian organization in an attempt to conceal the money's origin and destination. The money was transferred using the "Hawwalah" method, a money transfer system implemented by offsetting debts between a number of independent money changers, while using a minimal amount of cash, and hence not requiring registration in the world banking systems. The large amounts of money transferred through this method were used for organizational terror activity and for funding the salaries of Hamas operatives.
As part of the operation, IDF troops along with Shin Bet forces apprehended three suspects who are operatives of this Hamas-run infrastructure.
Ibrahim Mzfr-A Mazari' - Al-Nubani resident, a Hamas operative and a former prisoner.
Khaled Mzfr A Mazari' (Ibrahim's brother) - Al-Nubani resident, a Hamas operative.
Mohammad Abu Salim- A Rantis resident, a Hamas operative and a former prisoner.
Following the money transfer from the Gaza Strip into Judea and Samaria, IDF and Shin Bet forces have strengthened enforcement measures against civilian companies cooperating with terror organizations in the area and in the Gaza Strip.
An officer in the Intelligence Directorate, Lt. Col. A, said.: "The methods used by Hamas for money transfer are familiar to us and we are operating to thwart and disrupt them in cooperation with the Shin Bet."
"The IDF will continue to operate in order to ensure the safety of Israeli civilians using all the measures available to us."
8. POLICE IDENTIFY MEN WHO SPRAYED FLUID ON JEWS NEAR NJ SYNAGOGUE
by Cnaan Liphshiz, JTA
Police in Teaneck, New Jersey identified three of four people suspected of a hate crime, in which they allegedly sprayed dark liquid on Jews near a synagogue.
The three suspects, who are said to have used water guns to squirt the liquid on July 12 outside the Young Israel synagogue after Friday evening prayers, are all adults, Deputy Mayor Elie Katz is quoted as saying in a report Wednesday by ABC 7 NY.
Katz wrote on Facebook that the suspects were in a silver Honda Accord, taking videos and shooting water guns at people walking out of the prayer service. They made two rounds and at least one of them shouted anti-Semitic obscenities when passersby shouted for the driver to stop.
One person got a good look at the license plate and told police, who proceeded to trace the owners and ascertain who was in the car on Friday at around 9 p.m.
Separately, an unidentified individual carved a swastika onto the chassis of a car that owned by a Jewish person in Matthews, North Carolina.
"I was sort of mad, sad, broken-hearted, and really angry that someone would damage my property like that especially with that kind of a symbol because, as a Jew, it symbolizes the murder of six million of my brothers and sisters," the owner, who did not want to be identified, told WSOCTV Wednesday.
Multiple graffiti of swastika and Holocaust denial appeared earlier this week on the pedestrian bridge of the Santa Monica neighborhood in Los Angeles.
