1. TRUMP LAWYER: ANTI-SEMITIC DOCTOR MUST BE BANNED FOR LIFE
by David Rosenberg
A prominent conservative lawyer and attorney for President Donald Trump has called on state officials in Ohio to permanently revoke the medical license of a resident physician who was fired recently after it was revealed that she had made a number of anti-Semitic social media posts.
On December 31st, the Cleveland Clinic announced that it had severed ties with Lara Kollab, a 27-year-old resident physician, after a number of anti-Jewish comments she had made came to light.
"This individual was employed as a supervised resident at our hospital from July to September 2018. She is no longer working at Cleveland Clinic. In no way do these beliefs reflect those of our organization. We fully embrace diversity, inclusion and a culture of safety and respect across our entire health system," the statement said.
Kollab, who was issued a temporary medical license by the state of Ohio to work at the Cleveland Clinic under supervision, retains her license, though she is unable to practice medicine with it unless she is hired by another clinic or hospital.
Jay Sekulow, the chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice and a member of President Trump's legal team, has called on Ohio's medical board to revoke Kollab's license, saying that given her history of open bigotry and suggestions she'd misuse her position, she should be banned from practicing medicine – for life.
In an opinion piece published by Fox News, Sekulow wrote that the ACLJ and the Zionist Organization of America were working together "to ensure that Kollab never practices medicine again," Sekulow wrote.
"The ACLJ is filing a formal complaint – in conjunction with the ZOA – with the Ohio State Board of Medical Examiners noting that Kollab's 'statements and intentions go far beyond the realms of free speech. Allowing her near any patients could literally jeopardize lives. Dr. Kollab is obviously unfit to practice medicine.'"
"No patient should ever have to seek medical help in a facility that employs a doctor who is so full of hatred in her heart necessary to commit violence upon another person. The trust between a patient and a medical professional is so essential that any suggestion of violence should be investigated thoroughly and dealt with promptly. In Dr. Kollab's case the actual written statements speak for themselves."
The Canary Mission, a website dedicated to monitoring anti-Semitism among anti-Israel activists in North America, discovered Kollab's social media comments, which included praise for the Hamas terror organization, comments downplaying the Holocaust, expressing satisfaction that "Allah will kill the Jews", and claims she intentionally gave Jewish patients the wrong medication.
"Lara Kollab has called for violence against Jews, spread anti-Semitism, trivialized the Holocaust, defended the terror organization Hamas and supported terrorists on Twitter," the Canary Mission wrote.
The comments were posted between 2011 and 2017.
"Hahha ewww… ill purposely give all the yahood [Jews] the wrong meds," wrote in 2012.
Later that year, Kollab called for the "defeat" of "the Zionist state through force", as opposed to diplomacy.
"After repeated failed diplomacy, our aim is to defeat the Zionist state through force," Kollab tweeted, and later wrote that it was her "goal in life" to "expose" Israel "to everyone I meet. If I can twist a biology paper to include your crimes, I will do it."
Also in 2012, Kollab said she was "sorry not sorry" that she was going to be "brutally unsympathetic" to the plight of Jews in the Holocaust.
"After this debate, I have to watch a movie on the holocaust and write a paper on it. I am going to be brutally unsympathetic. #sorrynotsorry."
"If I have to write a paper about the holocaust, I'm going to bring palestine into it and my professor better like it."
Kollab later wrote that she believed the Holocaust was "exaggerated" and that the "victimization of the Jews" was "overdone".
"Poor Jews. They're so oppressed."
"I don't mean to sound insensitive but I have a REALLY hard time feeling bad about Holocaust seeing as the ppl who were in it now kill my ppl."
"So hard for me to not roll my eyes when the prof was saying that for our midterm, we have to watch a movie about the Holocaust+write a paper."
Kollab also compared Jews to dogs, writing in 2013 that the Israeli port city of Haifa is "full of Jewish dogs, and it looks like America, meaning, it wasn't that special to me."
While studying for a medical exam, Kollab tweeted a picture of "notes" she wrote to herself which read "People who support Israel should have their immune cells killed so they can see how it feels not to be able to defend yourself from foreign invaders."
After the Cleveland Clinic announced it had terminated her, Kollab released a statement via her attorney Ziad Tayeh apologizing for her past comments.
"I wish sincerely and unequivocally to apologize for the offensive and hurtful language contained in those posts. This statement is not intended to excuse the content of the posts, but rather to demonstrate that those words do not represent who I am and the principles I stand for today."
2. SUSPECTED YOUTH TO BE RELEASED BY SHIN BET SOON?
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The Lod District Court recommended that the Shin Bet consider the release this Thursday of a 16-year-old boy who has been detained for 10 days on suspicion of involvement in the murder of PA woman Aisha Rabi.
A short while ago, a hearing on the appeal filed by the boy's attorney, Itamar Ben-Gvir, against the decision by the Magistrate's Court to extend his detention until Thursday, ended.
In the appeal filed by Ben-Gvir, it was claimed that the reasonable suspicion was not reinforced and there was no material against the boy. Judge Nava Bechor rejected the minor's appeal, but said that she recommends that the Shin Bet consider releasing him on Thursday. The evidence presented to her, she said, indicates that there are a number of additional checks, but that they can be completed by Thursday.
In addition, in light of the allegations of violence against the boy, the district judge determined that a note to protocol was inadequate and referred the complaint to the unit for the investigation of interrogees complaints in the Justice Ministry.
Attorney Ben Gvir said in response, "In my opinion, it was appropriate to release my client today, but the court handed over a message to the police and Shin Bet security service, and I hope that on Thursday there will be release requests for all the detainees."
3. GAZA-EGYPT CROSSING CLOSED AFTER HAMAS TAKES OVER BORDER
by AFP, Arutz Sheva Staff
The Egyptian border crossing was closed for Palestinian Arabs seeking to leave Gaza on Tuesday, a border official said, as infighting between the PA and Hamas increases.
Gazans seeking to return from Egypt would still be allowed through but no one would be able to leave the coastal enclave, a spokesman for the Hamas-run authority in charge of the border crossing said.
"For now, it is just for one day, it is not clear if it will be extended," spokesman Wael Abu Omar told AFP.
The Palestinian Authority announced on Sunday it would withdraw its staff from the Rafah border crossing -- the only way for Gazans to leave the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave that bypasses Israel.
The PA blamed interference by Hamas, the Islamist terror group that controls Gaza, following claims of widespread arrests of members of Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party in the enclave.
Hamas has since resumed full control of the border.
While the Hamas terror organization controls the coastal enclave, the Palestinian Authority took control of Rafah in November 2017, as part of a deal for Egypt to reopen a border that had been entirely shut from August that year and largely sealed for years before that.
The deal has since broken down and Abbas has taken a series of measures against Gaza.
4. BIRMINGHAM MAYOR BLAMES JEWS AFTER EX-BLACK PANTHER DENIED AWARD
by Josefin Dolsten, JTA
The mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, said that a civil rights institute withdrew an award for activist Angela Davis due to pressure from the Jewish community.
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute said in a statement posted on its website over the weekend that it was no longer giving Davis the human rights award.
The group said that "supporters and other concerned individuals and organizations, both inside and outside of our local community, began to make requests that we reconsider our decision" after it nominated the activist in September.
"Upon closer examination of Ms. Davis' statements and public record, we concluded that she unfortunately does not meet all of the criteria on which the award is based," it continued.
The institute did not specify to which parts of Davis' public record it was referring.
But a statement by Mayor Randall Woodfin condemning the institute's choice pointed fingers at the Jewish community.
Woodfin said the decision was made "after protests from our local Jewish community and some of its allies" adding that "my overriding feeling is one of dismay."
The mayor did not further explain what the alleged protests by the Jewish community had concerned.
JTA reached out to the institute, Woodfin and the Jewish Federation of Birmingham but did not hear back in time for publication.
Davis, a Birmingham native who has been a member of the Communist Party USA and the Black Panthers, is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, which she has called "the South Africa moment for the Palestinian people."
5. GIVAT ASSAF TERRORIST CAPTURED
by David Rosenberg
Israeli security personnel captured a terrorist responsible for last month's deadly shooting attack outside of Givat Assaf, north of Jerusalem.
Early Tuesday morning, Israeli security forces apprehended Asam Barghouti, who had opened fire on a group of Israelis at Givat Assaf Junction on December 13th, killing two IDF soldiers, and wounding two more Israelis, one an IDF soldier and another a resident of Beit El.
The arrest was conducted in a joint operation of the IDF, Israel Police, and Shin Bet internal security agency.
Asam Barghouti carried out the attack near Givat Assaf just days after his brother, Saleh Omar Barghouti, shot seven Israelis in a drive-by shooting just north of Givat Assaf, near the town of Ofra. One newborn child, who was delivered prematurely as a result of the attack, died three days after the shooting.
Saleh Omar Barghouti was subsequently killed by Israeli security forces.
On Tuesday, the Shin Bet also confirmed that Asam Barghouti had also taken part in the Ofra shooting attack with his brother.
Barghouti was arrested early Tuesday morning at the home of one of someone who had assisted him as he planned a new string of shooting attacks on Israelis.
At the time of his arrest, Israeli security forces found an AK-47 assault rifle in Barghouti's possession, along with large quantities of ammunition and night-vision equipment.

The soldiers killed in the attack were from the Nahal Haredi-Netzach Yehuda battalion. Nahal Haredi was founded a few years ago by Los Angeles businessman David Hager in order to integrate the young haredi men into the Israel Defense Force on the mission of defending the Land of Israeli. Nahal Haredi started with a few dozens of soldiers, but today includes thousands.
One of the main battalions of Nahal Haredi is Netzach Yehuda, which operates in Judea and Samaria and takes part in combat and operative missions
6. NETANYAHU: I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO CONFRONT MY ACCUSERS
by Gary Willig
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu delivered a statement on the investigations against him Monday night.
The prime minister claimed that he had sought to question the State's witnesses in the investigations, but was prevented from doing so twice.
""The judicial system is one of the foundations of Israeli democracy," Netanyahu said. Quoting former Prime Minister Menachem Begin, he stated that "there are judges in Jerusalem. So it was, and so it will be."
Netanyahu said that he was "ready for a live confrontation so that the public knows the truth. I am certain of my innocence."
The prime minister dismissed the allegations of Case 4000, known as the 'Bezeq-Walla Affair,' which is considered the most serious and damaging of the investigations against him. He noted that the case was about "positive coverage which I never received."
He accused those behind the investigations of double standards for failing to investigate his political opponents for some of the same things he is under investigation for.
"How is it that you did not interrogate Yair Lapid, who met dozens of times with (Yediot Aharonot publisher) Noni Moses in a secret place?" he asked.
Netanyahu accused the Israeli left of attempting to bring him down through the investigations since they could not defeat him at the ballot box, saying that he "won't make the concessions" the left wants from him, such as his resignation.
Demanding the right to confront his accusers, Netanyahu also claimed that witnesses who could defend him "were not called to testify."
"I am not afraid, I have nothing to hide," he said.
"The prime minister also has the right to due process, I will cover all the things they say, because I know the truth and I am 4,000 percent sure of it," Netanyahu said.
