1. NETANYAHU DOESN'T REAPPOINT JEWISH HOME MK AS DEPUTY MINISTER
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Prime Minister Netanyahu, who received the defense portfolio with the resignation of Minister Liberman, did not reappoint Jewish Home MK Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan to the position of deputy defense minister, Channel 2 reported.
Netanyahu's associates had promised to raise the issue for discussion and vote at today's cabinet meeting, but in the end it did not happen.
The term of office of a deputy minister expires automatically when the tenure of the minister under which he is serving ceases, and therefore Ben-Dahan's tenure expired with the resignation of Liberman.
Apparently, the refusal stems from Netanyahu's attempt to pressure the Jewish Home to reach an agreement on the continuation of the government's term.
The Jewish Home said in response to the decision, "The maltreatment by the prime minister's associates of the Jewish Home party, this time by firing deputy defense minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, is an unfair act and an injustice to an honest and ethical public figure. The prime minister would not behave this way to any other party. We are talking about an excellent deputy minister whose staff will lose its place of work immediately. We are calling on the prime minister to retract his decision."
Ben-Dahan said in response, "The political crisis caught me in the midst of important work on many projects, for reservists, disabled IDF veterans, residents of Judea and Samaria and many other issues. We are talking about part of the coalition agreement, and my continued activities at the Defense Ministry do not relate to the future of the coalition, as they do not relate to the work of the other ministers. It is possible to implement the technical process with mere approval by telephone. I am sure that everything will be straightened out, and proper behavior will trump all other considerations."
The tension between Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Jewish Home faction has increased sharply in recent days following the resignation of Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman from the position of defense minister.
Jewish Home has called on Netanyahu to appoint Naftali Bennett as defense minister as a condition for the coalition's continued existence, while Netanyahu's associates made it clear that he wanted to leave the defense portfolio in his own hands at this stage.
2. JEWISH HOME RISES TO 10 SEATS IN NEW POLL
by Tzvi Lev
If elections were held today, the Jewish Home faction would get 10 Knesset seats - a slight rise from its current eight seats, a new poll has found.
The survey, which was commissioned by the 'Meet The Press' television program, also found that over 51% of the public opposes Jewish Home leader Naftali Bennett being appointed as defense minister, while 24% vocalized support.
In addition, 53% of respondents said that new elections are justified based on recent developments. 59% of the public said that former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman's resignation was the right thing to do, and 49% believe that the primary motive for his resignation was disagreement with the cabinet decision to hammer out a cease-fire with Hamas.
Should elections be held today, the Likud would get 30 seats, Yesh Atid would pull in 18 seats, and the Joint List and Zionist Union would each fall to 12 seats.
Kulanu would get eight seats, Shas would earn seven seats, and their haredi counterparts at United Torah Judaism would get six Knesset seats. Fresh off party leader Avigdor Liberman's resignation, the Yisrael Beytenu faction would get six seats, as would an unnamed party headed by MK Orly Levi-Abekasis. Meretz would bottom out at five Knesset seats.
Should former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz join the Zionist Union, then the faction would retain the 24 seats it has today, while the Likud would fall to 26 seats.

4. NETANYAHU'S PROPOSAL: DEFENSE FOR STABILITY
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Prime Minister Netanyahu's office said on Sunday that Netanyahu would be willing to give Education Minister Naftali Bennett the defense portfolio in place of outgoing Minister Avigdor Liberman, Channel 2 reported.
However, the assumption in the political establishment is that the transfer of the defense portfolio to Bennett will be contingent on a commitment on the part of him and his party to remain in the government until the end of this term, in November 2019.
This morning, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked referred to her party's demand to place the defense portfolio in the hands of Minister Naftali Bennett as a condition for the continued existence of the government.
"At this stage, the government is no longer a right-wing government, unfortunately," Shaked said, explaining that "What was to be done (appointing judges, changing the approach in the state's positions in the Supreme Court, the Regulation Law, Ariel University, dismantling the Council for Higher Education, and many other things) - we have already done."
On the other hand, she continued, "What still needs to be done (the Override Clause, the removal of infiltrators, the evacuation of Khan al-Ahmar, bringing back deterrence, the prevention of terrorist funds) - it is already clear that it will not be done under this government."
"The only justification for the continued existence of the government until November 2019 is that Bennett will revolutionize security, restore Israel's deterrence that was lost under Liberman over the past two years, and help to break free of the deep crisis in trust in security. Without this, this government is called 'right-wing' but in practice fulfills left-wing policy," Shaked said.
5. 'DESTROY TERRORIST'S HOUSE - COMPLETELY'
by Arutz Sheva Staff
On Sunday, Attorney Michael Litvak sent a letter to Attorney General Mandelblit, to the legal adviser for Judea and Samaria, to the Prime Minister and to the General of Central Command. The letter was sent on behalf of the families of the two murdered in the Barkan industial zone terror attack, Ziv Hajbi and Kim Yehezkel.
On the seventh of last month, a terrorist, a worker at a factory in the Barkan industrial zone, shot three workers, murdering the two and injuring a 54-year-old woman.
Since then, the terrorist is still at large, but family members and friends of the terrorist were arrested. It recently came to light that the mother and brother of the terrorist knew of his intention and could have averted the attack by letting officials know.
On November 6th, the order to demolish the home only included the first two floors where the terrorist resided. It did not include the third, where the brother lived.
In the letter, the Attorney Litvak requested a change in the demolition order to the terrorist's house, including the third floor, where his brother lived.
"The IDF had stated initially that the brother had no connection to the attack. It was only at the end of last week that an indictment was brought against the mother and brother of the terrorist for not preventing the attack and interfering with the investigation. Therefore," the lawyer said, "there is no doubt that there is a direct connection."
Litvak added, "I ask to submit a request for the Supreme Court to cancel out it's original order (regarding the old demolition order issued) in order to allow additional time after a renewed mapping and issuance of an updated demolition order.
According to Litvak, if the Supreme Court hearing was to be held, it would no longer be possible to change the demolition order.
In addition, Litvak demanded that Regulation 157 be applied to the Defense Regulations and "order the deportation of the terrorist's mother and father who knew of his intentions."
"I would also like to clarify," Litvak added, "why Regulation 157, which permits the expulsion of terrorists and has been approved by the Supreme Court Justice countless times, is not implemented today."
6. SHAKED: THE GOVERNMENT IS NO LONGER RIGHT-WING
by Hezki Baruch
Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Sunday referred to her party's demand to place the defense portfolio in the hands of Minister Naftali Bennett as a condition for the continued existence of the government.
"The public is fed up with voting right and getting left, and the continuation of a faltering left-wing government will endanger right-wing rule. Therefore, we must go to elections as soon as possible in order to form a new government headed by Netanyahu, with the Jewish home the strong party to his right, such that we will finally vote right and get right."
7. HAREDIM TO EL AL: YOU LIED TO US
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Haredim on an El Al flight to Israel on Friday allegedly faced off with the flight crew amid fears that the plane would land after Shabbat began.
Two El Al flights that took off from JFK airport in New York were scheduled to land on Shabbat after being delayed by snow. One flight was diverted to destinations in Europe instead of Ben Gurion Airport while the other received permission to land in Israel after Shabbat began.
Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef ruled that the flight could land after Shabbat's onset due to pikuach nefesh, the principle in Jewish law that the preservation of human life overrides virtually any other religious consideration.
The permission was granted due to fear for the life of one of the passengers aboard the flight, who is suffering from a serious illness.
Haredim on the flight reportedly were enraged after the flight took off from JFK, as they were promised by El Al staff that they would arrive in Tel Aviv before Shabbat began. However, other conflicting reports said that the reports of violence were overblown.
According to Channel 2, a group of haredim began to riot on the flight to Israel after it became clear that they would not arrive before Shabbat began. The haredim allegedly pushed flight crew, cursed stewardesses, and threatened to forcibly break into the cockpit.
"In midst of my deep sleep I heard shouts of 'liars, cheaters,' and raised fists and the shouts at the flight attendants who burst into tears," recounted an eyewitness.
Another wrote in a viral Facebook post that "after six hours of flying, I hear shouts and see a flight attendant cry after they raised their hands on her, pushing her and threatening to break into the cockpit. All this in order not to desecrate Shabbat."
"I found myself standing guarding weeping stewardesses who were looking for a moment to stop and breathe air from the behavior displayed to them."
However, the allegations were denied by Israel Hayom haredi affairs correspondent Yehudah Shlezinger. Writing on Facebook, Shlezinger, who was on the flight, said that El Al lied to the passengers and that the flight had only taken off due to the flight crew having arrived late.
"They sat us on the plane and each time they told lies, 'The flight attendants are already here,' 'We're leaving,' 'We're first in line,' 'We're on the fast lane'" he wrote. "Three hours on the plane, lots of lies. Passengers who wanted to go down were refused, and the captain promised unequivocally: 'we will arrive an hour or half an hour before Shabbat.'
"Two hours before the landing, the captain announces that the religious to be removed in Athens, the secular will continue. Both sides were angry, both secular and haredi. They lied to us. Brazenly and without being confused."
"No passengers were beaten. None were threatened. They did not burst into the cockpit. They asked for answer," added Shlezinger, who promised to share videos of the incident.
El Al said in a statement that "extreme weather in New York is causing cancellations and delays in hundreds of flights, including El Al flights that left Israel last night. Due to the delays and delays, El Al does not fly on Saturday, the company is forced to land Flight 002 in Athens and Flight 008 in Rome."
"EL AL will take care of alternative flights to Israel for all passengers. In addition, passengers who prefer to stay in Athens or Rome on Shabbat will be treated by representatives of the company and do not worry about returning them to Israel at the end of Shabbat. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers."
