1. IDF LIEUTENANT COLONEL M. KILLED IN GAZA
by Elad Benari
An IDF officer from an elite unit was killed on Sunday night during an operation in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF later identified the slain officer as Lt. Col. M., keeping all other details of the deceased classified.
"IDF officer, Lt. Col. M., was killed last night during operational activity in the Gaza Strip. His family has been notified. The IDF extends its heartfelt condolences and will continue to support the family."
Another officer was injured and evacuated to the Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. The hospital said on Monday morning that the officer underwent an operation overnight. He is listed in moderate and stable condition.
Their families have been notified.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement, "During IDF special forces' operational activity in Gaza, an exchange of fire broke out, during which an IDF officer was killed and an additional IDF officer was moderately injured."
The statement called on residents of the Gaza envelope to listen to the instructions in their communities and obey the instructions issued by the Home Front Command.
The incident occurred during an IDF operation three kilometers deep inside the Gaza Strip. The force entered Gaza in a civilian car, apparently in order to eliminate or kidnap Nur Barakeh, commander of the eastern battalion of Hamas' Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis.
According to reports from Gaza, due to a complication in the operation, exchanges of fire broke out between the terrorists and the Israeli forces, during which the Israel Air Force attacked in Gaza and killed at least seven Hamas terrorists.
The special force of the IDF was able to leave Gaza and, contrary to rumors that circulated at the time, no soldier was kidnapped. Following the incident, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu cut short his visit to Paris and is now making his way to Israel.
On Sunday evening, sirens were heard in the Gaza envelope. According to the IDF, as of 5:15 a.m., 17 rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip. Three of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome, and the rest exploded in open areas. There were no physical injuries.
Residents living in the area reported hearing loud explosions. Residents of the Eshkol Regional Council were called upon to remain close to protected areas. The Home Front Command announced that schools in the Gaza envelope will be closed on Monday due to the security situation.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades issued a special statement following the incident in Gaza.
"A special force of the Zionist enemy infiltrated using a civilian car in the area of the Shahid Ismail Abu Shanab mosque, 3 km east of Khan Younis. This force killed the commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Nur Barakeh," said the statement.
"After they were exposed and our Mujahideen persecuted them and made contact with them, the enemy air force intervened and carried out attacks to cover the retreat of this force, and in the process some of our people were killed."
"The incident continues and our forces continue to respond to this dangerous Zionist aggression," said Hamas' statement.
2. GERMAN LEFTISTS NIX AWARD TO WOMEN'S MARCH OVER ANTI-SEMITISM
by David Rosenberg
A German NGO has cancelled plans to honor the organizers of the "Women's March" protest movement in the US, citing allegations of anti-Semitism after organizers refused to distance themselves from Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and a Palestinian Arab terrorist responsible for the deaths of Israelis in a bombing attack in Jerusalem.
Last week, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) – an NGO affiliated with Germany's left-of-center Social Democratic Party – announced that it had cancelled an award planned for the Women's March.
"The FES announces that the Human Rights Award scheduled for November 12th, 2018 has been cancelled," FES tweeted last week. "We will examine the allegations," FES continued, referring to accusations of anti-Semitism aimed at the Women's March organizers.
According to WDR, the FES later purged all references to the planned award for the Women's March on its website.
The announcement came following the publication of an open letter penned by former and current students in FES scholarship programs. The letter protested FES' choice of the Women's March, saying they were "repeatedly struck by the anti-Semitic statements and attempts to minimize anti-Semitism" by the organizers of the march.
"We believe that the Women's March USA does not meet the criteria of this award, since its organizers have, since the 2017 Women's March, repeatedly made anti-Semitic statements… and excluded Jews and Zionists."
The letter pointed to Women's March board members Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory, and their refusal to condemn Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, despite his long history of making anti-Semitic comments.
In 1984, Farrakhan compared himself favorably to Adolf Hitler and derided Judaism as a "gutter religion". In subsequent statements, the Nation of Islam leader has condemned Jews as "Satanists", and in October compared Jews to termites. Last week, Farrakhan led a chant of "Death to Israel, Death to America" during a visit to Tehran.
"Even after Mallory was repeatedly asked in March of this year to distance herself from the anti-Semitic statements by Farrakhan, she refused," the letter continued, referring to Mallory's refusal to condemn comments by the Nation of Islam leader at the Saviour's Day event in Chicago in February.
Mallory sparked an outcry at the time when she posed for a photo with Farrakhan after the speech, during which Farrakhan had declared that "Jews are my enemy".
The letter also cited Sarsour's appearance on stage with Rasmea Odeh, a former terrorist from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine who was involved in the murder of two Israeli Jews in a bombing in Jerusalem.
The cancellation comes on the heels of actress Alyssa Milano's decision not to participate in next year's Women's March.
"Any time that there is any bigotry or anti-Semitism in that respect, it needs to be called out and addressed. I'm disappointed in the leadership of the Women's March that they haven't done it adequately," Milano said.
3. 'THIS LAW IS GOING TO SAVE LIVES'
by Mordechai Sones
The Knesset Economics Committee today discussed the proposed ban on advertising tobacco products in preparation for its second and third readings.
MK Yehuda Glick (Likud), one of the initiators of the law, said in discussion that "the best way to deal with the failure of smoking damage is through an advertising ban.
"You have to always see this number in front of your eyes: 8,000 people die each year from the damages of smoking, more than traffic accidents," Glick said.
"This law is going to save lives, it's very significant, revolutionary, and saves lives," he said.
"I've just come back from New York and Australia, and I must tell you the world is progressing on this issue a few steps ahead of us."

4. 'IT'S A MIRACLE MY SON CAME BACK'
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The IDF officer wounded during a battle with Hamas terrorists Sunday night has regained consciousness, while being treated at the intensive care unit in Soroka Medical Center in the southern Israeli city of Beer Sheva.
The officer, a member of a well-known national-religious family, was moderately wounded during clashes inside the Gaza Strip, during an operation by an elite IDF special forces unit inside the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave.
The wounded officer was evacuated from the scene of the battle in the Gaza Strip, and returned to Israeli territory. He was subsequently rushed to Soroka Medical Center while unconscious, in moderate but stable condition.
On Monday, the wounded officer regained consciousness, and was permitted by doctors to meet with his wife and children.
According to a report by Channel 2, the wounded officer's mother described his return from the battle as 'miraculous'.
"I pray that my son will heal as quickly as possible. It is a miracle that he came back to me alive. I couldn't stand to see his children – my grandchildren – crying. It was too hard on me, so I left the room."
Seven Hamas terrorists were killed during the clashes, including ncluding Nur Barakeh, commander of the eastern battalion of Hamas' Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis.
During the course of the battle, an IDF officer was killed and a second officer wounded.
Israeli military censors have barred publication of the slain officer's name, who has only been identified as Lt. Col. "M".

5. CHILDREN LEFT TO CARE FOR DISABLED MOTHER
by Sponsored Content
A tragic series of events has transformed a happy, wholesome family into a highly dysfunctional household.
15 years ago, Avi Siluk lost a long-fought battle with terminal illness. He left behind a wife, and 10 grieving children.
Widow Sara Siluk took on the daunting challenge of supporting and raising her children alone. For years, she succeeded in giving them what they needed, often working long hours and sacrificing her own health to do so. Recently, however, an unexpected tragedy knocked the family off their feet once more: Sara suffered a severe stroke, which left her disabled.
Since then her teenage children have been forced to come to her aid, helping take her of her extensive medical needs. Without a parent collecting income, the necessary live-in medical assistance is not financially feasible. Robbed of their childhoods, 16-year-old Yaakov and 18-year-old Shoshi's daily life consists of helping their mother to eat and bathe. It is a far cry from "normal" teenage responsibilities.
Having just married off 25-year-old daughter Rikki, the Siluk family is now critically poor. Unable to pay bills or purchase clothing, their once-happy home is now a dark den of illness & fear. An emergency fund has been started by the kallah, with the goal of indefinitely providing her mother a live-in aide. The medical assistance would give Sara, who has suffered so tremendously, the care that she needs. It would also give Shoshi and Yaakov the childhoods they deserve. Such a change in their lives would truly be valued beyond money.

by David Rosenberg
The IDF officer killed during a battle with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip Sunday night is scheduled to be laid to rest at a cemetery in his hometown Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
On Sunday night, an IDF special forces unit operating in the southern Gaza Strip on a mission Israeli military officials said was "very meaningful" to Israeli security, encountered a force of Hamas terrorists, resulting in an "exchange of fire".
Israeli air units were later called in, resulting in dozens of missile strikes near Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, Arab media outlets reported.
Seven Hamas terrorists were killed, including Nur Barakeh, commander of the eastern battalion of Hamas' Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis.
During the course of the battle, an IDF officer was killed and a second officer wounded.
Israeli military censors have barred publication of the slain officer's name, who has only been identified as Lt. Col. "M".
The IDF announced Monday morning that Lt. Col. M. will be laid to rest in his hometown at 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. The name of Lt. Col. M.'s hometown has not been cleared for publication, and no media coverage of the funeral will be permitted, the IDF said.
"The funeral of Lt. Col. M., who was killed last night during operational activity in the Gaza Strip, will take place today (Monday), November 12th, 2018 at 15:00. Due to security limitations, the funeral will not be allowed for media coverage."

7. 'IRAN USING NUCLEAR DEAL TO BUILD EMPIRE OF AGGRESSION, TERROR'

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu hit supporters of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, better known as the Iran nuclear deal, during a press briefing in Paris Sunday afternoon, after arriving in the French capital for an event marking the 100th anniversary of the armistice which ended the fighting in the First World War.
In response to questions from reporters at the press briefing, Netanyahu said there could be no long-term solution with the Iranian-backed Hamas terror group, given the organization's explicit backing for the destruction of the State of Israel.
"Hamas is not about to accept the Jewish state. By the way, if it did, there is a solution, there is a vision, there are many possibilities that I think are available. But if your enemy wants to destroy you, then what can you talk about? The method of your annihilation? You can talk about bring back prisoners, bringing back our fallen soldiers, that you can do. You can talk about humanitarian issues. But you can't have a political resolution with those who are committed to your dissolution, to your destruction. It's absurd."
Netanyahu also criticized supporters of the Iran nuclear deal, saying the arrangement empowered the Tehran regime to pursue an "empire of aggression and terror," with the explicit goal of destroying the Jewish state.
"Let me reverse the question and ask the world. Here is a regime – Iran – that wants our destruction. They repeat it more often than Hamas. So what's the world doing with them? They're making deals with them. I asked that question. In fact I faced the entire world, all the great powers. I said, 'How can you make deals that effectively pave the highway for the future nuclear arsenal – within a few years – and give them billions of dollars with which they can build their empire of aggression and terror.'"
Netanyahu had been scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Paris, though the meeting appeared to be in doubt last week, amid reports the meeting had been cancelled.
Just minutes before the Israeli premier spoke to reporters, however, Interfax reported that the two leaders had in fact spoken on Sunday, citing Kremlin officials.
The Israeli leader left for France Saturday night, to join dozens of leaders from around the world at the Paris Peace Forum, at the invitation of France's President Emmanuel Macron.
During the press briefing, Netanyahu confirmed that he had spoken with Putin, saying that he had spoken with numerous world leaders including President Donald Trump and the Russian leader.
"I spoke with many leaders, some briefly, some more at length. Many – or most – are interested in closer relations with Israel."
Netanyahu declined to provide details regarding the content of his conversation with Putin.
"The talk with Putin was good and substantive - you could even say it was very important, but besides that, there's no reason to go into detail."
The Prime Minister jokingly referenced the recent dustup between President Trump and CNN reporter Jim Acosta, which ultimately resulted in the revoking of Acosta's White House press credentials.
While Channel 10's Barak Ravid pressed Netanyahu on the recent 'submarine scandal' involving the Prime Minister's personal attorney, Netanyahu interrupted Ravid's line of questioning to warn him – sarcastically – not to follow in Acosta's footsteps.
"Let's not have another 'CNN' here," Netanyahu said.
Turning to the issue of illegal Arab settlement on Israeli land in Judea and Samaria, Netanyahu said his government was committed to evacuating the unauthorized Bedouin encampment of Khan al-Ahmar, either by a mutually-agreed upon arrangement, or by a forced eviction.
"I agree completely – there is a completely illegal takeover," by Palestinian Authority residents in Area C in Judea and Samaria, "and we need to evict them. We are giving them a chance to reach an agreement [for a peaceful evacuation], but if not, they'll be evacuated. That's what I said before, and that's what is going to happen."
In September, the Israeli Supreme Court paved the way for Khan al-Ahmar's eviction.
Last month, however, the Netanyahu government voted to postpone implementation of the evacuation orders in an effort to reach an agreement with the town's approximately 180 residents to relocate the encampment off of land belonging to the Israeli town of Kfar Adumim.
Netanyahu vowed that Khan al-Ahmar would be evacuated one way or another, but at Sunday's press briefing declined to give a final deadline for negotiations.
"You want me to give a deadline before [the negotiations]?" asked Netanyahu rhetorically.
Netanyahu shied away from questions regarding whether the government was accelerating the pace of construction in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, in particular the 'E-1' bloc between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim.
"We did establish a new community," said Netanyahu, referring to the establishment of the new town of 'Amichai' in Samaria, to replace Amona, which was demolished last year following a court order.
"One is already under [construction] – Amichai. I think there are multiple considerations. I think that we're doing the right thing for the State Israel and the Land of Israel."
8. THOUSANDS ATTEND FUNERAL OF LT. COL. M.
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Thousands of people joined the friends and family of Lieutenant Colonel M., the special forces soldiers who was killed in Gaza Sunday night.
The funeral took place in Lt. Col. M's hometown. Among those who came to pay their respects to the fallen soldier were senior IDF officers and President Reuven Rivlin. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Lt. Col. M. was killed when an IDF special forces unit operating in the southern Gaza Strip on a mission Israeli military officials said was "very meaningful" to Israeli security, encountered a force of Hamas terrorists, resulting in an "exchange of fire."
A second IDF soldier was wounded in the skirmish.
IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, who is currently assessing the security situation at the IDF's Tel Aviv headquarters with the prime minister and defense minister, spoke about the operation in which Lieutenant Colonel M. was killed.
"A special force of the IDF operated tonight in an operation of high importance to Israel's security. The force and the air force fought a courageous battle with coolness and heroism. "
"I salute the forces," added Eizenkot. "The IDF owes Lieutenant Colonel M. more than we can tell. Embraces his family and wishes a full recovery for the wounded IDF officer."
