1. 'HEIL HITLER' WRITTEN ON JEWISH FAMILY'S VEGAS HOME
by JTA

The home of a Jewish family in Las Vegas was tagged with anti-Semitic graffiti in what she said was an anti-Semitic incident.

Sara Attia, a mother of three, said she called police after finding a swastika and the phrase "Heil Hitler" drawn on the door of her apartment Monday, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported Monday.

She was already planning to immigrate to Israel when the incident happened, the Times of Israel reported.

The incident happened days after several swastikas were discovered sprayed on the home of non-Jewish Las Vegas family. Police did not consider that incident a hate crime, saying it was more likely a random attack by teenagers, the Times of Israel said.

Attia, 27, speaks Hebrew and noted she is open about being Jewish and has no doubt that her home was deliberately targeted, the report said. But police did not consider it a hate crime and believed it was more likely a random attack by teenagers, according to media reports.

Police officers came to her children's Chabad day school and said they would step up patrols in the area, the Review-Journal reported.

Attia told the Review Journal she hopes that the vandalism was just "some dumb teenager who doesn't know any better. A joke or not, it wasn't funny," she added.

Attia told Ynet she is leaving the United States due to anti-Semitism.

Officials have pointed to a rise in anti-Semitism in the US in recent years, which culminated with the shooting of 11 worshipers at a Pittsburgh synagogue last month. The Anti-Defamation League identified 1,986 anti-Semitic incidents in the US in 2017, up from 1,267 in 2016, and also reported a major increase in anti-Semitic online harassment.

2. SUSPECTED TERROR ATTACK IN MELBOURNE
by Arutz Sheva Staff

At least one person was killed with another two injured after a man went on a stabbing spree in Melbourne, Australia.

The assailant also attacked a policeman with a light bulb and a knife. The suspected terrorist reportedly yelled "Allahu Akhbar" during the assault and was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition. He later passed away from his injuries.

ISIS later claimed responsibility for the attack in Melbourne, calling him an "Islamic State fighter".

The attack took place on a central Melbourne street that was packed with pedestrians.

3. AMIR PERETZ ANNOUNCES HE HAS BEATEN CANCER
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Veteran Labor party lawmaker Amir Peretz announced on Wednesday that he had successfully beaten cancer in 2017, the first time he has acknowledged having been stricken with the disease.

"I went through a very difficult medical event. After a few tests, the Knesset doctor, Dr. Lifshitz, called me and said, 'Listen, there's something suspicious, you have to go for much more comprehensive tests," recalled Peretz in an interview with Hadashot that is set to be broadcast on Friday evening.

"After the discovery begins a process," continued Peretz "There is a part of uncertainty, dealing with treatments, surgery, and all this time only me, my wife and my children knew about it. Even my brothers didn't know."

Peretz's revelation sparked an outpouring of sympathy from his Zionist Union counterparts. "Amir is one of the most determined leaders I've met in my life, a man who leads a clear and sharp ideological path that believes in peace and social justice," said Zionist Union head Abi Gabbay.

"The cancer has chosen the wrong opponent. Amir is victorious, and I am happy to continue fighting together for the future of us all in our beloved country."

"Amir called today to tell me personally that a story will be broadcast about him and his coping with cancer. I'm happy to hear that he won again, " added MK Merav Michaeli.

Peretz, is a veteran politician, former trade union leader and ex-defense minister. He was previously head of Labor from 2005-2007 and is the longest serving member of the Knesset.

His first stint as leader ended after Israel lost the Second Lebanon war during Peretz's tenure as defense minister.

4. NEW LAW WOULD HEAVILY DISCOUNT FAMILY-SIZE CARS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation will debate a bill on Sunday that would heavily discount new cars that seat at least four children, or family cars.

Currently, new vehicles are taxed 92% when purchased. The legislation, which is being promoted by Jewish Home MK Bezalel Smotrich, would halve the tax rate for larger size vehicles in order to lower the economic burden on larger families.

The legislation's explanatory paragraph says that many parents are deterred from having a fourth child due to the high economic burden they face in buying a new car for their suddenly-expanded family.

"The State of Israel, as a country with the highest fertility rates in the world, has not succeeded in making significant moves to alleviate these families," the bill says.

The discount would only apply to residents of Israel with at least four children and would not apply to luxury vehicles.

Smotrich contended that the bill will also improve road safety as it would push parents to cease buying cheap cars that are often unsafe.

"This is a small amount of money that will dramatically improve the safety of vehicles on Israel's roads and will reduce in parallel the severity of the injury in the event of an accident, heaven forbid," said Smotrich.

"The high tax on cars means that many families simply do not have money for safety vehicles, and the result is old junk car that often lacks basic safety systems."

5. SAUDI ARABIAN TELLS ISRAELIS: WE WANT PEACE
by Elad Benari

A Saudi Arabian citizen took to social media to send a message of peace to Israel in Hebrew.

In a video posted on social networks, the man who identified himself as Mohammed, expressed hope that peace between the two countries is very close. Israeli public broadcaster Kan News posted the video to Facebook on Thursday.

"Peace and blessings from the land of Saudi Arabia to the Land of Israel," Mohammed said, adding, "We want peace with Israel, and with the help of God, I believe that peace is very close. I speak to friends from Israel, from all over the world. They love peace and want it very much."

"Pardon me, my Hebrew is not good. And I want to speak Hebrew and I love Hebrew. I learned Hebrew myself, and with God's help, I want to go to Tel Aviv and I want to see Jerusalem. Amen and amen. Thank you and Shabbat Shalom," he added.

Reports in recent years have indicated that Saudi Arabia and Israel are getting closer, though the two countries still do not have any official ties.

One report claimed the Saudi government is weighing the possible normalization of relations with Israel ahead of a planned Middle East peace program by the Trump administration which aims to not only secure a final status agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, but lead to recognition of the Jewish state by the larger Arab world.

Last year, Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) invited the Saudi King and Crown Prince to visit Israel in an interview with the Saudi publication Elaph.

"Israel today views Saudi leadership in the region positively," Katz said. "No other Arab country exists with the same level of power and understanding."

Mohammed's message is not the first time that a Saudi citizen has reached out to Israel. Earlier this year Louai a-Sharif, a Saudi Arabian journalist and historian with ties to the Saudi royal family, released a video message aimed at Israelis and delivered in Hebrew.

In the video statement, a-Sharif says that any potential nuclear weapons program in his country would be pursued only as a matter of self-defense, suggesting – while refusing to specify it by name – that Iran, not Israel, would be the target of a potential Saudi atomic weapons program.

The video was released after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman indicated that his country was prepared to pursue nuclear weapons if Iran is successful in obtaining an atomic arsenal.

6. 12 KILLED IN MASS SHOOTING AT CALIFORNIA BAR
by Tal Polon

At least 12 people, including a sheriff's sergeant, were killed in a shooting that took place at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

Ventura County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Eric Buchow told CBS LA that the gunman was dead inside.

CBS LA reported that deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff had responded to the incident. FBI agents, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as the National Guard were also at the scene.

The shooting took place Thursday morning (Israel time) at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks. According to the Bar's website, a "College Country" night was going on at the time.

A law enforcement official told the LA Times at least 30 shots had been fired.

A witness subsequently described the incident to ABC affiliate KABC.

"I just started hearing these big pops. Pop, pop, pop. There was probably three or four, I hit the ground. I look up - the security guard is dead. Well, I don't want to say he was dead, but he was shot. He was down. The gunman was throwing smoke grenades all over the place. I saw him point to the back of the cash register...and he just kept firing. I ran out the front door."

The witness also said that the gunman had a beard, wore a hat, had a black jacket and may have had glasses, and noted that he appeared "Middle Eastern."

US President Donald Trump commented on the incident Thursday afternoon, thanking police for their bravery.

"Great bravery shown by police," he wrote in a Tweet. "California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times. That Sheriff's Sergeant died in the hospital. God bless all of the victims and families of the victims. Thank you to Law Enforcement."

7. KEHILAT BNEI TORAH IN HAR NOF HOLDS LARGEST AVOT UBANIM EVER

Last Saturday night, Motzei Shabbat Parshat Chayei Sarah, the Bnei Torah congregation in Har Nof held an inspiring Avot Ubanim learning night in memory of the five martyrs who were killed in the vicious terror attack at the synagogue four years ago. Some 1,000 children gathered with their fathers at the very site of the massacre to learn Torah with fervor, in an atmosphere of togetherness and unity, for the sake of those victims.

Grief, mourning and a black mood pervaded the Har Nof community in the period following the tragedy, in which five community members were killed at the start of a seemingly ordinary day during their daily morning prayer in the synagogue, wrapped in their prayer shawls and tefillin. Under the judicious guidance of the congregation's leader, those negative energies have been transformed into positive ones -- by establishing the Ateret Kedoshim Kollel which will serve as a beacon, casting its spiritual light in all directions. Over the past four years the Ateret Kedoshim Kollel has been an opportunity for personal and collective growth, scholarship and Torah learning for the ilui neshama -- literally the elevation of the souls -- of the slain victims.

Today, the Kollel functions as a spiritual home for many neighborhood residents, some of whom are full-time Torah learners and others who work for their livelihood but make sure to set aside time for the Torah learning so important to them on a regular basis. They all come to the Kollel and learn Torah together. A variety of programs are available every day of the week, allowing any learner to find one that suits them.

Help us keep the flame alive! We need your donation, so that we can continue to run these programs for yet another year.
