1. 40,000 JEWS FLOOD HEVRON
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Over 40,000 Israelis, lawmakers, and public figures flooded Hevron for the annual weekend dedicated to highlighting the Jewish people's ties to the ancient city.
The event occurs annually on the week where the Torah portion of 'Chayei Sarah' is read, in which the Biblical patriarch Abraham buys the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron.
Revelers ate in large communal meals and stayed in large tents specially set up for the occasion, as well as at the homes of residents.
This year's event celebrated two recent developments: The official opening of the archeological site at Tel Heron as an official site of Nature and Parks Authority and the government's recent decision to approve a new apartment building to be built in Hebron.

2. KAVANAUGH ACCUSER REFERRED TO DOJ AFTER ADMITTING SHE LIED
by Tal Polon
The Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman is recommending a criminal probe against a woman who made sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh before his Senate confirmation vote.
Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley referred Judy Munro-Leighton to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday after his office said she made "materially false statements" and admitted to falsely accusing Kavanaugh.
"Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted, contrary to her prior claims, that she had not been sexually assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh and was not the author of the original 'Jane Doe' letter" accusing Kavanaugh, Grassley's office said in the letter to the Department of Justice.
"When directly asked by Committee investigators if she was, as she had claimed, the 'Jane Doe' from Oceanside California who had sent the letter to Senator [Kamala] Harris, she admitted: 'No, no, no. I did that as a way to grab attention.'"
"She further confessed to Committee investigators that (1) she 'just wanted to get attention'; (2) 'it was a tactic'; and (3) 'that was just a ploy.'
"Regarding the false sexual assault allegation she made via her email to the Committee, she said: 'I was angry, and I sent it out.' When asked by Committee investigators whether she had ever met Judge Kavanaugh, she said: 'Oh Lord, no.'"
US President Donald Trump subsequently commented on the news in a tweet.
"A vicious accuser of Justice Kavanaugh has just admitted that she was lying, her story was totally made up, or FAKE! Can you imagine if he didn't become a Justice of the Supreme Court because of her disgusting False Statements. What about the others? Where are the Dems on this?" he asked.
3. WEST BINYAMIN PROTESTS NEEDLESSLY-LONG ROUTE TO JERUSALEM
by Mordechai Sones
Residents of the Dolev-Talmonim bloc traveled Friday morning in a convoy towards Route 443 on the road that was used by residents until 2000 but was closed by the IDF.
Residents of Dolev, Talmon, Neriah, Haresha, Kerem Re'im and Nachaliel are forced to travel an hour-and-a-half to Jerusalem instead of a journey that could last 20 minutes.
Instead of traveling a 15-kilometer route, thousands of residents have to travel 47 kilometers every day, encountering heavy traffic at Shilat junction.
West Binyamin is demanding Route 935, the paving of which was halted, be paved as was promised in the past. Until the halt order is lifted and the road is paved, residents demand a temporary solution - to be able to return to the old route that runs through the village of Ein Ariq and the Beituniya bypass, passing mostly through Area C and short sections of Area B - under proper security.
Adi Mintz, one of the leaders of the road construction committee for Highway 935, explained to participants the route to Jerusalem's importance and its rapid paving for developing western Binyamin.
4. ARSONIST SETS FIRES AT 7 DIFFERENT JEWISH SITES IN BROOKLYN
by Tal Polon
The New York Police Department (NYPD) received reports of fires at seven different locations in the South Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn on Friday. According to City Council Member Stephen Levin and State Senator Martin Dilan, the fires targeted "yeshivas and synagogues in the predominantly Hasidic community."
"Earlier this morning, NYPD's 90th Precinct received reports of fires at seven different locations throughout South Williamsburg. The perpetrator set fires at local yeshivas and synagogues in the predominantly Hasidic community. The crimes are being investigated by the Hate Crime Task Force and Fire Marshals," they said in a statement.
"Tragically, it would seem these types of attacks are becoming all too common. Words and speech are as real as any weapon, and I again call on the current administration to unequivocally denounce every and all hate groups. We need to do everything in our power to deny hate safe harbor, whether in Pittsburgh, Charleston, or here in Williamsburg."
According to Williamsburg News, the suspected perpetrator of the fires was arrested by NYPD, with the help of neighborhood watch group Williamsburg Shomrim.

The arson took place around the time that graffiti reading "Kill all the Jews" was found daubed in Brooklyn's Union Temple. The discovery led to the cancellation of a political event that was supposed to take place there.
5. BEN & JERRY'S ISRAELI ARM FORGOES NEW 'ANTI-TRUMP' FLAVOR
by Ben Sales - JTA, Arutz Sheva
Ahead of US midterm elections, Vermont ice cream company Ben & Jerry's has announced its newest novelty flavor: Pecan Resist (a play, I think, on "we can resist"). The flavor is a tribute to various liberal activist groups that have led the opposition to the Trump administration. The drawing on the container features a trio of women of color holding a sign and protesting.
(The flavor, as described by Ben & Jerry's, is "chocolate ice cream with white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts and fudge-covered almonds.")
Proceeds from the flavor are going to a group of activist organizations, including Women's March, which organized mass protests in cities worldwide on the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration.
Some pro-Israel and Jewish leaders have criticized the group, as one of the co-chairs of Women's March is Linda Sarsour, a Palestinian-American activist who supports the movement to boycott Israel and has made disparaging comments about Zionism. In addition, another co-chair, Tammika Mallory, is a vocal supporter of Louis Farrakhan, the virulently anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader.
Ben and Jerry's posted a photo of a group of activists, including Sarsour, when announcing the flavor.

That didn't sit well with some on social media. Yoav Aliasi, an Israeli rapper and right-wing activist, called on his followers to boycott Ben & Jerry's because of the decision. His post has garnered 2,800 reactions and more than 1,400 shares.
"Ben and Jerry's, the American Jewish ice cream producers, decided to name their new ice cream after a 'Palestinian' terror supporter named Linda Sarsour, who has become a symbol of anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel (a darling of the media and the American left)," Aliasi wrote.
Some of the replies to the Ben & Jerry's tweet also expressed outrage at the choice.
[twittervideo:2049226]
Ben & Jerry's responded by thanking one critic for the feedback but standing by the decision.
"We may not agree on everything, but the work that Linda has done to promote women's rights is undeniably important and we are proud to join her in that effort," the tweet said.
This isn't Ben & Jerry's first foray into politics via frozen deliciousness. In 2016, it created a flavor called "Empower Mint," with peppermint and chunks of fudge. In 2015, the company's founders, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, endorsed Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for president.
The Israeli arm of Ben & Jerry's said it won't be selling the flavor, and said it doesn't get involved in U.S. politics.
"Ben & Jerry's Israel is is an independent and blue and white [Israeli] company," Ben & Jerry's Israel said on its web site. " We don't have anything to do with the decisions of the international brand and we don't interfere with local politics. It is important to mention that we do not intend to market [Pecan Resist] in Israel. We will continue to do and act for the community and for the company in Israel."
6. EX-ADL CHIEF BLASTS BENNETT, DERMER, FOR PITTSBURGH RESPONSE
by JTA
Abraham Foxman, the former national director of the Anti-Defamation League who is known for his closeness to the Israeli establishment, has a message for Israeli officials defending President Donald Trump in the wake of the worst-ever attack on U.S. Jews: Butt out.
"I think Israeli officials and Israeli representatives should come and stand in solidarity with the American Jewish community in a time of pain and anguish and tragedy," Foxman told Jewish Insider in its Thursday edition.
"I don't think they should come to the United States and stand in solidarity with the President of the United States, especially during an election period. I can thank Trump on one hand for the good things that he's done, but that does not take away from me the right to be able to criticize him on issues of value and that I feel are part of our tradition."
In retirement, Foxman spends a good portion of his time in Israel. While heading the ADL, he was known as one of the American Jewish leaders most comfortable representing the U.S. Jewish community to successive Israeli governments, including Netanyahu's.
A number of Israeli officials have praised Trump's response to the killing of 11 worshippers at The Tree of Life synagogue complex on Saturday, allegedly by a man who shared Trump's expressed fear that Central American migrants planned to "invade" the United States.
Naftali Bennett, the minister for the Diaspora, has appeared on American media arguing that tarring Trump with helping to spur anti-Semitic acts was unfair because he was the most pro-Israel U.S. president in memory, moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
Israel's U.S. ambassador, Ron Dermer, in an MSNBC interview cast anti-Israel activity on campuses as a threat on par with white supremacists and said he was pleased with Trump's response.
Trump at an Illinois rally called the attack "an assault on all of us" and said of those seeking the destruction of the Jews, "we will seek their destruction."
Trump also has continued with campaign rallies and used his popular Twitter feed to continue his lacerating attacks on opponents and — within hours of the attacks — to comment on baseball.
Trump visited Pittsburgh and the Tree of Life on Tuesday. Dermer, in video of Trump's arrival, appears to take the lead in greeting him, which is highly unusual for a diplomat at a U.S. domestic event.

7. SIX PALESTINIAN ARABS KILLED IN ACCIDENT IN JORDAN VALLEY
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Six Palestinian Arabs were killed on Sunday morning and four others were seriously injured when a minibus and a truck collided on Highway 90, near Petza'el in the Jordan Valley.
Firefighters rescued the victims, who were trapped in one of the vehicles. Magen David Adom paramedics, alongside IDF paramedics, treated the victims who were airlifted to the Tel Hashomer Hospital, Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva and Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem for further treatment.
Police have blocked the road to traffic in both directions in the wake of the accident.
Last week, eight members of the Atar family from Psagot were killed in an accident on Highway 90 in the Dead Sea.
The victims were Yariv, 45, Shoshi, 47, and their children Yaakov Yisrael (12), Ateret (11), Ayala (9), Moriah (7), Yadid (5) and Avigail (3).
The drive who hit the Atar family's car was arrested and a court extended his remand. Police suspect that he had been driving under the influence of drugs. The driver stated during his interrogation that he sometimes uses medical marijuana.
8. 'IT'S POSSIBLE TO BRING BACK THE SOLDIERS' BODIES WITHIN A WEEK'
by Arutz Sheva Staff
IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eiznekot said that the political establishment is able to bring about the return of two murdered IDF soldiers – Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin – whose bodies have been held by Hamas since 2014.
Eizenkot's remarks were made during a meeting on Friday with Simcha and Leah Goldin.
During the meeting, Eizenkot told the two that "all the projects in Gaza must be stopped until the soldiers and civilians are returned, to stop everything except for the entry of water, food, sewage, and medicines".
Eizenkot also stressed that if the political echelon wishes, the boys can be returned within a week.
"From the difficult meeting, we concluded that the prime minister does not want to return the soldiers to Israel," said the Goldins following the meeting, "For the third time the prime minister once again played with the families 'feelings and tricked us, and Netanyahu agrees to pay salaries to Hamas' terror apparatus before demanding that the soldiers return to Israel."
