Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders from across the political spectrum, thanked outgoing US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley for her support following her surprise resignation Tuesday.
"I thank Ambassador Nikki Haley, who led an uncompromising struggle against the hypocrisy of the United Nations and the truth and justice of our country. Best of luck!" Netanyahu said.
President Reuven Rivlin said: "I would like to thank Nikki Haley, a true ambassador, from the bottom of our hearts and on behalf of all the citizens of Israel. Haley presented an uncompromising stance on US positions on the Middle East and Israel, and defended our clear right to protect the security of our citizens. Haley, in her direct statements, often led to the removal of the cynical mask from processes led by the United Nations and international organizations."
"I thank Mrs. Haley for her courage and for her tenure as a turning point in the US attitude toward the international organizations and for the discriminatory treatment that these organizations often take against the State of Israel," the president added.
"We will continue to see Nikki as a true friend and we will be happy to receive her at the President's Residence on her next visit to Israel," Rivlin concluded.
Education Minister Naftali Bennett wrote on Twitter: "Dear Amb@NikkiHaley, on behalf of the Israeli people. Thank you for what you've done for Israel. We will not forget."
Former Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Oren wrote: "It is with great regret that I heard about the resignation of Ambassador Nikki Haley, who worked for the United States, Israel and the enlightened world against the dark forces of the United Nations. The people of Israel will always appreciate her and wish her success in the future."
Yesh Atid faction leader Yair Lapid, who serves in the Knesset opposition, wrote: "Nikki Haley is a great friend of Israel and an important voice at the United Nations. She took on the hypocrisy and bias at the UN with conviction and clarity. Thank you."
Haley's Israeli counterpart, Ambassador Danny Danon, earlier thanked her for "for standing with the truth without fear. Thank you for representing the values common to Israel and the United States."
"Thank you for your support for the State of Israel, which helped lead to a change in Israel's status in the UN. Thank you for your close friendship and common paths. Wherever you are, you will continue to be a true friend of the State of Israel," Danon said.
Ambassador Haley announced her resignation during a press conference with US President Donald Trump earlier Tuesday. The ambassador said that it was time for her to step down and looked back with pride at her accomplishments over the last two years.
She drew attention to the relocation of the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. "I think when you look at the anti-Israel bias and the strength and courage that the president showed in moving the embassy and showing the rest of the world: 'we will put our embassy where we want to put our embassy."

US President Donald Trump has accepted US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley's resignation.
Ambassador Haley discussed her resignation with President Trump when they met at the White House last week, according to Axios.
The resignation has reportedly shocked the Washington Foreign Policy establishment.
Ambassador Haley has been an outspoken critic of the UN's corruption, bias, and inability to deal with human rights crisis around the world. She was also Israel's biggest supporter at the UN.
The ambassador said that her service at the UN "has been the honor of a lifetime."
Haley criticized Trump's rhetoric during the 2016 Presidential Election and endorsed his rival Marco Rubio for the Republican nomination. Her relationship with Trump improved after the election and she was offered the post of Ambassador to the United Nations.
The ambassador has stated that she is unafraid to criticize the president in private meetings with him.
Sources in the White House stated that Trump said Haley would leave at the end of the year and that she would be "taking a break."
Haley stated that she will not run in the next presidential election and that she will be campaigning for Trump's reelection in 2020.
During a live announcement of the resignation, Trump said Ambassador Haley "has been very special to me" and "a fantastic person."
"She is somebody who gets it. She has been at the United Nations from the beginning with us and worked with us," Trump said.
"She told me six months ago, she said: 'You know, maybe at the end of the year I want to take a little time off."
Turning to Haley, Trump said "hopefully you'll be coming back at some point, maybe in a different capacity."
He praised Haley for "knowing all the players" at the UN. "She got to know China, Russia, India. She knows everybody on a first name basis and they like her ... And maybe more importantly, they respect her."
Haley pointed to her accomplishments over the last to years. "Now, the United States is respected. Countries may not like what we do, but they respect what we do. They know that if we say we're going to do something, we follow it through."
"We've cut $1.3 billion in the UN's budget. We've made it stronger, we've made it more efficient. South Sudan, we got an arms embargo, which was a long time coming. Three North Korean sanctions packages, which were the largest in a generation, done in a way that we could really work towards denuclearizing North Korea. The Iran deal, bringing attention to the world that every country needs to understand, you can't overlook the all of the bad things that they're doing. You have to see them for the threat that they are.

3. RIVLIN HONORS DANISH UNDERGROUND

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday began his visit to Denmark by laying a wreath at the monument to the Danish underground.
The Danish underground led the effort to save the Jews of Denmark during the Second World War.
Rivlin was escorted by the Denmark's Defense Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen and Holocaust survivor Salli Besiakov.
Besiakov, who also laid a wreath at the monument, was rescued as a fifteen-year-old by the efforts of the underground. In October 1943, Besiakov and his family left their home for a safe house in Copenhagen. His life was saved when he was taken on a fishing boat to Sweden.
President and Mrs Rivlin shook his hand warmly and discussed his life.
"The determination with which the Jews of Denmark were saved moves us even today," Rivlin said in his meeting with Besiakov.
After the ceremony, the Rivlins will meet Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark for a private meeting.
Rivlin is in Denmark at the invitation of the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Gribskov local council, and the Gilleleje church. His visit honors a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the rescue of over 7000 Danish Jews from Nazi persecution and their safe transfer to Sweden in October 1943.
The story of the rescue of Denmark's Jews is one of the most remarkable in the history of the Holocaust: Ninety percent of the Danish Jewish community was rescued and when they returned home, they found that their property had been protected by their fellow Danes.

4. FOR THE FIRST TIME: SPECIAL NEEDS YOUNG ADULTS VISIT AUSCHWITZ

For the first time, young adults with special needs traveled to Poland as part of a Holocaust education trip.
The trip was initiated by World Jewish Congress Chairman Gad Ariely, in coordination with the Modi'in Maccabim-Reut municipality, the Akadem House for autistic children and adults, Nitzan Modi'in, and the Center for Autism Treatment and Research.
Participants took part in a series of preparatory meetings and an educational seminar at Yad Vashem.
Upon arrival in Poland, participants visited Krakow's ancient Jewish Quarter and Ghetto Heroes Square, where they learned about the square's history and heard the story of Tadeusz Pankiewicz, a Polish pharmacist who is considered to be a Righteous Gentile. The evening ended with a special dinner together with local Jewish leaders.
The most significant part of the trip, however, was the group's visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, where participants spoke about their murdered relatives, shared the horrific stories their families had been through during the Holocaust, and held a special ceremony to commemorate the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. They lit memorial candles at the camp's memorial, and ended their visit by singing Israel's national anthem, "Hatikva."
5. BERNIE SANDERS SLAMS ISRAEL'S NATIONALITY LAW AS TRUMP-INSPIRED

In a major foreign policy speech positing an emerging authoritarian strain around the world, Bernie Sanders blamed the passage of Israel's Nationality Law on US President Donald Trump, citing it as proof of his corrupting influence eroding democracy.
"It should be clear by now that Donald Trump and the right-wing movement that supports him is not a phenomenon unique to the United States," Sanders said Tuesday in a speech to the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. "All around the world, in Europe, in Russia, in the Middle East, in Asia, Latin America, and elsewhere we are seeing movements led by demagogues who exploit people's fears, prejudices, and grievances to gain and hold on to power."
Sanders, the Independent senator from Vermont who caucuses with Democrats, presided over a presidential campaign that focused on exploiting people's fears, prejudices, and grievances. He conceded that Trump by himself was not responsible for the rise of authoritarianism.
"While this authoritarian trend certainly did not begin with Donald Trump, there's no question that other authoritarian leaders around the world have drawn inspiration from the fact that the president of the world's oldest and most powerful democracy is shattering democratic norms," said socialist Sanders.
He cited as examples the rise in popularity of a rightist politician in Brazil, Saudi repression, and policies of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
"It's also hard to imagine that Israel's Netanyahu government would have taken a number of steps— including passing the recent 'Nation State law,' which essentially codifies the second-class status of Israel's non-Jewish citizens, aggressively undermining the longstanding goal of a two-state solution, and ignoring the economic catastrophe in Gaza — if Netanyahu wasn't confident that Trump would support him," Sanders conjectured.
The Nationality Law passed this summer ratifies Israel's status as a Jewish State. It discusses national rights, and does not harm any citizen's individual rights or freedoms.
Sanders ran a divisive campaign in 2016 for the Democratic presidential nomination, although he was ultimately defeated by Hillary Clinton. His resonance with young, inexperienced voters has driven the party to embrace some of his redistributive policies that have failed wherever they have been tried. He has been outspoken in criticizing Israeli policies, while quoting false numbers that exaggerated the Muslim death toll in recent Gaza riots.
6. TWO CHILDREN KILLED IN FIRE

Two-year-old Zvi Ginzburg and his five-year-old sister Efrat were killed in a fire that broke out Tuesday evening on the fifth floor of a residential building on in Beitar Illit.
Seven other people were injured.
Four firefighting teams were called into the scene and a crane was brought from Jerusalem to help to bring the fire under control and rescue people trapped inside the building.
The building was evacuated and during the search, nine people with injuries were removed from the scene. Two were in critical condition and Magen David Adom paramedics declared them dead.
The paramedics evacuated three people who suffered smoke inhalation to the Shaare Zedek Hopsital in Jerusalem, including a man about 22 years of age in moderate condition and two children aged seven and nine with light injuries.
"The firefighters continue their search of the other apartments," a fire department spokeswoman said. "The building is still full of smoke, and at the same time another team is carrying out fire extinguishing operations at the site."

7. 'RIOTS WERE UNDER CONTROL, DOZENS WERE HIT'

On Tuesday afternoon, IDF Spokesperson Ronen Manlis addressed the riots that took place last night in the Gaza Strip, during which thousands of Palestinian Arabs damaged and set fire to the security fence along the Gaza Strip.
The rioters threw explosives and spray grenades, burned tires and threw stones at IDF soldiers.
In addition, one of the rioters crossed into Israel for a short period of time, setting fire to an abandoned military position near the fence. There were no casualties and only a camouflage net was damaged.
In the course of the violent riots, soldiers acted to prevent widespread infiltration into the country.
The IDF spokesman addressed claims that the riots were hidden from the public and from the media. "The incident was controlled by observation and fire from start to finish and at no point did it get out of hand," the IDF spokesman said. "The fighters hit dozens of rioters using riot control means and shooting at rioters in accordance with open-fire regulations."
"IDF forces will continue to act to ensure the security of the residents of the area in the face of various terrorist attempts, as they do all the time," added Brigadier General Manelis said.

8. 'HALEY IS IN A POSITION TO TAKE ON FUTURE SENIOR ROLES'

Former Deputy Foreign Minister and Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Danny Ayalon, told Arutz Sheva on Tuesday that the resignation announcement of Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, with President Donald Trump by her side, gives her momentum to be appointed to other senior positions.
"There were all sorts of rumors that she was overshadowing Trump, but we saw that this was not true. Trump said he would continue to consult with her and she could choose any role in the next administration if he is elected again in 2020," Ayalon said.
He added that he believes Haley's resignation is a long-term strategic step. "Beyond the fact that she has small children and this is a very intense job, she is definitely leaving at her peak. After two years at the United Nations, she brought about a situation in which the United States is respected and its voice is heard. The US is returning to a leadership position. All of this gives her a springboard for a senior position in the next administration or even for the presidency, if not in 2020 then in 2024. She is young enough to think about the elections in 2024."
Ayalon pointed out that Haley was one of Israel's greatest friends, saying, "She withdrew the United States from the Human Rights Council, from UNESCO and from other bodies, and there is no doubt that it will be difficult to find a replacement for her. With great determination, she vetoed anti-Israeli resolutions in the Security Council, something which never happened during the Obama administration, and she also led to the disqualification of anti-Israel resolutions."
"Even in the UN General Assembly, despite the automatic Arab majority, she sounded her voice proudly. She convinced several other countries to join her and stood up alongside Israel in fighting against the boycott movements. There is no doubt that Nikki Haley will be remembered as having set a new legacy in which the US stands alongside Israel in an unprecedented manner," Ayalon concluded.

2. HIGH COURT REJECTS PETITION TO RETURN TERRORISTS' BODIES

The High Court of Justice rejected the petition of the families of the terrorists who murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevach and Adi Kolman, who demanded that their bodies be returned.
However, the rejection of the petition does not herald a change in policy on the part of the High Court of Justice, since the judges' decision holds that instead of filing a petition regarding each terrorist separately, one petition was filed demanding the release of the bodies of two terrorists.
The judges Mazuz, Elron and Barak Erez determined in their decision, "After reviewing the petition and the Respondents' response, we reached the conclusion that in the case before us, the petition should be summarily dismissed for the reason that the petition binds the case of two different petitioners."
They also note that there may be a different ruling when separate petitions are filed. "The aforesaid does not prevent the Petitioners from returning their case, in separate petitions, before this Court."
The judges mentioned in their decision the hearing in the High Court of Justice demanding the release of the bodies of terrorists, in which it was determined that the military commander does not have the authority to hold terrorist bodies for negotiations, but noted that the court accepted the State's request for a hearing in addition to the matter, and a delay in the carrying out of the judgment was allowed until the decision is given in the additional hearing.
3. MAZAL TOV, SIXFOLD

A 45-year-old man, a married resident of Petah Tikva, filled six regular columns in the lottery for 17.40 shekels and won a million shekels, in a lottery held Saturday night.
The lotto followed the day on which Jews read the weekly Torah portion of "Breishit," which relates G-d's creation of the world in six days, and his rest on the seventh, Shabbat.
Asked why he sent six columns specifically, he replied that he sent the form on Friday, the sixth day of creation - six columns to express the six days.
"I discovered that I earned 1 million shekels while at work. From the moment I knew about it, I was smiling all the time, and the workers around me did not understand what had happened to me."
"My wife and I have plans of what to do with the money, a move to a bigger apartment, where I can raise my kids more comfortably in the future," he said.
4. 'ONE PALESTINIAN SHOT ME, ANOTHER SAVED MY LIFE'

The survivor of a deadly terrorist attack in an Israeli industrial zone in Samaria earlier this week said her life was saved in part by an Arab worker who came to her aid shortly after she had been shot.
Fifty-four-year-old Sarah Vettori, one of the victims of this Sunday's terrorist attack on an office in the Barkan industrial zone in Samaria, credited her survival to the assistance of a Palestinian Authority resident employed in Barkan at a warehouse.
During the attack the terrorist, 23-year-old Ashraf Naalwa from the town of Shweika near the Palestinian Authority-controlled town of Tulkarem in Samaria, entered the offices of the Alon recycling company in Barkan while carrying an M-16 assault rifle.
Naalwa took two employees of the Alon facility captive, ordering an Arab worker to bind their hands with zip ties. The terrorist then shot and fatally wounded the two employees, who were identified as 28-year-old Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel of Rosh Ha'ayin, and 35-year-old Rishon Letzion resident Ziv Hajbi.
During the attack, Vettori was also shot by the terrorist but managed to escape and hide under an office table.
"The terrorist was standing in front of me and shot me," Vettori recalled. "As he was shooting me, I ran away back to the office and I hid underneath a table. I put my hand over the wound and saw that it was bleeding. All I could think about was how I needed to breathe, and that everything would be alright. Then I heard four or five more loud shots and I huddled under the table."
Naalwa followed Vettori into her office, but failed to find her as he searched the room.
"I saw that he came back to the office, and I saw his legs, his jeans, and his sneakers. But after a second he was gone and I was just in shock."
In an interview with Yediot Ahronot, Vettori said an Arab worker named Basel helped her stop the bleeding, and kept her conscious until emergency medical teams evacuated her to the hospital.
"One is a murderer and the other one saves lives," Vettori said. "Basel saved my life."
"I was vaguely conscious and Basel, who ran into the office where I was hiding, pulled me under the table and reassured me when he said 'My dear, my dear.' He stroked my face in an attempt to keep me conscious until the ambulance arrived."
After she was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, Basel called Vettori to check up on her, and to express his sadness at what had happened. Vettori noted that Basel had been hospitalized at a Palestinian Authority hospital for shock.
Vettori was released from Beilinson on Monday.
5. IS THE IDF SPOKESPERSON HIDING WHAT'S HAPPENING IN GAZA?

Military correspondents Tal Lev Ram (Maariv) and Yossi Yehoshua (Yediot Aharonot) spoke in an interview with 103 fm about the security situation near the Gaza security fence and the daily disturbances, warning of an exceptional and severe incident that will develop from the demonstrations, and accusing the IDF Spokesperson of hiding the situation from the public.
Yehoshua claimed that the information was hidden from the public and estimated that this was by order of the higher army ranks. "It is clear that there is concealment here, and the IDF Spokesperson is not reporting incidents of sovereignty violations anymore. There had been a policy of doing so so far. In the preceding period, the IDF allowed reporters to enter the first line of confrontation with the snipers. When the IDF wanted to present the subject to the world and tell the story of the confrontation, it allowed us to enter. Now the army does not allow the entry into the closed military area and we cannot report what is happening. In my opinion, this is a policy of concealment which comes from the higher echelons. I don't have the official order on this, but I notice the spirit of things."

Tal Lev Ram added: "The head of Southern Command believes in this and says it publicly to journalists. I personally took the car at the end of the week and went south, and I can testify that there is almost no international press there. There is only one observation point. In my opinion there is something deeper here. It is not easy for anyone to talk about the Gazan mud, it immediately becomes political. On the military level, an approach has developed that the more we deal with what is happening in Gaza, it will give the enemy's consciousness tailwind to continue the events."
"There are two scenarios that could happen," he added."The first and most serious thing for me as an Israeli citizen is that the Gazans will penetrate the borders of the State of Israel and Israeli civilians and soldiers will be harmed. The second scenario is that in the end there will be 70-80 Palestinians killed along the fence because they did not take the actions that needed to be done. These are events that happen all the time, there are videos in which the Palestinians dismantle the fence, and it is a matter of time before they burst in and run toward Israel. "
On assessments of escalation and another operation in Gaza, he noted, "The worst thing in the world of deterrence is to say one thing and to do another. We cannot say to the public, 'After the holidays we will act,' and then not do it. It's not just a military matter, but a political matter. The one changing the rules of the game is not Israel, but Hamas, and Israel is not carrying out an appropriate policy."
6. ANCIENT INSCRIPTION FROM SECOND TEMPLE PERIOD DISCOVERED

An exciting archaeological discovery uncovered in Jerusalem was presented for the first time Tuesday at a press conference of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and the Israel Museum. It is a stone inscription from the Second Temple period (1st century BCE), which marks Jerusalem's name in Hebrew letters in full spelling - as is written today.
The inscription was discovered last winter near Binyanei Ha'uma in the capital, in an excavation conducted by IAA archaeologist Danit Levy before the paving of a new road. During the excavation foundations of a building from the Roman period that was supported by column sections were exposed. The crowning glory was a round stone column that was incorporated into the Roman building repeatedly with an Aramaic inscription in Hebrew letters, typical of the Second Temple period, around the reign of Herod.

The Jerusalem Archaeologist at the Antiquities Authority, Dr. Yuval Baruch, and Prof. Roni Reich of the University of Haifa, who read and studied the inscription, say that "the inscriptions from the First and Second Temples that mention the name 'Yerushalem / Yerushalayim [Jerusalem] are very rare. They said it is rare to find the name Jerusalem in full script as is customary today. "In fact, this is the only stone inscription from the Second Temple period recognized in studies, which mentions the name Jerusalem in full spelling."

On Tuesday afternoon, IDF Spokesperson Ronen Manlis addressed the riots that took place last night in the Gaza Strip, during which thousands of Palestinian Arabs damaged and set fire to the security fence along the Gaza Strip.
The rioters threw explosives and spray grenades, burned tires and threw stones at IDF soldiers.
In addition, one of the rioters crossed into Israel for a short period of time, setting fire to an abandoned military position near the fence. There were no casualties and only a camouflage net was damaged.
In the course of the violent riots, soldiers acted to prevent widespread infiltration into the country.
The IDF spokesman addressed claims that the riots were hidden from the public and from the media. "The incident was controlled by observation and fire from start to finish and at no point did it get out of hand," the IDF spokesman said. "The fighters hit dozens of rioters using riot control means and shooting at rioters in accordance with open-fire regulations."
"IDF forces will continue to act to ensure the security of the residents of the area in the face of various terrorist attempts, as they do all the time," added Brigadier General Manelis said.

2. HIGH COURT REJECTS PETITION TO RETURN TERRORISTS' BODIES

The High Court of Justice rejected the petition of the families of the terrorists who murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevach and Adi Kolman, who demanded that their bodies be returned.
However, the rejection of the petition does not herald a change in policy on the part of the High Court of Justice, since the judges' decision holds that instead of filing a petition regarding each terrorist separately, one petition was filed demanding the release of the bodies of two terrorists.
The judges Mazuz, Elron and Barak Erez determined in their decision, "After reviewing the petition and the Respondents' response, we reached the conclusion that in the case before us, the petition should be summarily dismissed for the reason that the petition binds the case of two different petitioners."
They also note that there may be a different ruling when separate petitions are filed. "The aforesaid does not prevent the Petitioners from returning their case, in separate petitions, before this Court."
The judges mentioned in their decision the hearing in the High Court of Justice demanding the release of the bodies of terrorists, in which it was determined that the military commander does not have the authority to hold terrorist bodies for negotiations, but noted that the court accepted the State's request for a hearing in addition to the matter, and a delay in the carrying out of the judgment was allowed until the decision is given in the additional hearing.

A 45-year-old man, a married resident of Petah Tikva, filled six regular columns in the lottery for 17.40 shekels and won a million shekels, in a lottery held Saturday night.
The lotto followed the day on which Jews read the weekly Torah portion of "Breishit," which relates G-d's creation of the world in six days, and his rest on the seventh, Shabbat.
Asked why he sent six columns specifically, he replied that he sent the form on Friday, the sixth day of creation - six columns to express the six days.
"I discovered that I earned 1 million shekels while at work. From the moment I knew about it, I was smiling all the time, and the workers around me did not understand what had happened to me."
"My wife and I have plans of what to do with the money, a move to a bigger apartment, where I can raise my kids more comfortably in the future," he said.
4. 'ONE PALESTINIAN SHOT ME, ANOTHER SAVED MY LIFE'

The survivor of a deadly terrorist attack in an Israeli industrial zone in Samaria earlier this week said her life was saved in part by an Arab worker who came to her aid shortly after she had been shot.
Fifty-four-year-old Sarah Vettori, one of the victims of this Sunday's terrorist attack on an office in the Barkan industrial zone in Samaria, credited her survival to the assistance of a Palestinian Authority resident employed in Barkan at a warehouse.
During the attack the terrorist, 23-year-old Ashraf Naalwa from the town of Shweika near the Palestinian Authority-controlled town of Tulkarem in Samaria, entered the offices of the Alon recycling company in Barkan while carrying an M-16 assault rifle.
Naalwa took two employees of the Alon facility captive, ordering an Arab worker to bind their hands with zip ties. The terrorist then shot and fatally wounded the two employees, who were identified as 28-year-old Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel of Rosh Ha'ayin, and 35-year-old Rishon Letzion resident Ziv Hajbi.
During the attack, Vettori was also shot by the terrorist but managed to escape and hide under an office table.
"The terrorist was standing in front of me and shot me," Vettori recalled. "As he was shooting me, I ran away back to the office and I hid underneath a table. I put my hand over the wound and saw that it was bleeding. All I could think about was how I needed to breathe, and that everything would be alright. Then I heard four or five more loud shots and I huddled under the table."
Naalwa followed Vettori into her office, but failed to find her as he searched the room.
"I saw that he came back to the office, and I saw his legs, his jeans, and his sneakers. But after a second he was gone and I was just in shock."
In an interview with Yediot Ahronot, Vettori said an Arab worker named Basel helped her stop the bleeding, and kept her conscious until emergency medical teams evacuated her to the hospital.
"One is a murderer and the other one saves lives," Vettori said. "Basel saved my life."
"I was vaguely conscious and Basel, who ran into the office where I was hiding, pulled me under the table and reassured me when he said 'My dear, my dear.' He stroked my face in an attempt to keep me conscious until the ambulance arrived."
After she was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, Basel called Vettori to check up on her, and to express his sadness at what had happened. Vettori noted that Basel had been hospitalized at a Palestinian Authority hospital for shock.
Vettori was released from Beilinson on Monday.
5. IS THE IDF SPOKESPERSON HIDING WHAT'S HAPPENING IN GAZA?

Military correspondents Tal Lev Ram (Maariv) and Yossi Yehoshua (Yediot Aharonot) spoke in an interview with 103 fm about the security situation near the Gaza security fence and the daily disturbances, warning of an exceptional and severe incident that will develop from the demonstrations, and accusing the IDF Spokesperson of hiding the situation from the public.
Yehoshua claimed that the information was hidden from the public and estimated that this was by order of the higher army ranks. "It is clear that there is concealment here, and the IDF Spokesperson is not reporting incidents of sovereignty violations anymore. There had been a policy of doing so so far. In the preceding period, the IDF allowed reporters to enter the first line of confrontation with the snipers. When the IDF wanted to present the subject to the world and tell the story of the confrontation, it allowed us to enter. Now the army does not allow the entry into the closed military area and we cannot report what is happening. In my opinion, this is a policy of concealment which comes from the higher echelons. I don't have the official order on this, but I notice the spirit of things."

Tal Lev Ram added: "The head of Southern Command believes in this and says it publicly to journalists. I personally took the car at the end of the week and went south, and I can testify that there is almost no international press there. There is only one observation point. In my opinion there is something deeper here. It is not easy for anyone to talk about the Gazan mud, it immediately becomes political. On the military level, an approach has developed that the more we deal with what is happening in Gaza, it will give the enemy's consciousness tailwind to continue the events."

6. ANCIENT INSCRIPTION FROM SECOND TEMPLE PERIOD DISCOVERED

An exciting archaeological discovery uncovered in Jerusalem was presented for the first time Tuesday at a press conference of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and the Israel Museum. It is a stone inscription from the Second Temple period (1st century BCE), which marks Jerusalem's name in Hebrew letters in full spelling - as is written today.
The inscription was discovered last winter near Binyanei Ha'uma in the capital, in an excavation conducted by IAA archaeologist Danit Levy before the paving of a new road. During the excavation foundations of a building from the Roman period that was supported by column sections were exposed. The crowning glory was a round stone column that was incorporated into the Roman building repeatedly with an Aramaic inscription in Hebrew letters, typical of the Second Temple period, around the reign of Herod.

The Jerusalem Archaeologist at the Antiquities Authority, Dr. Yuval Baruch, and Prof. Roni Reich of the University of Haifa, who read and studied the inscription, say that "the inscriptions from the First and Second Temples that mention the name 'Yerushalem / Yerushalayim [Jerusalem] are very rare. They said it is rare to find the name Jerusalem in full script as is customary today. A woman wounded in Sunday's grisly shooting attack in the Barkan industrial area recounted how she hid from the terrorist after being shot.
"I came to work in the morning, as usual, and suddenly Lena, the girl sitting behind me in the room, shivered," said Sara Vatori. "As I walked out of our hall, the terrorist stood in front of me and shot me."
"As he shot me, I,saw that I was bleeding and all I had in my head was to breathe, that it would be ok, just breathe," said Vatori.
"Then I heard another four or five strong shots and I huddled under the table and then I saw that he had gone back to the office, I saw his legs, his jeans and his sneakers, and I figured if he found me I would be dead. You know, he did not look under the table, "Vatori continued.
"Fortunately, he was in shock. He did not even look under the table, he disappeared after a few seconds. I kept breathing until they came.
Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, 28, from Rosh Ha'ayin, and Ziv Hajbi, 35, of Rishon Letzion, were murdered in the attack on Sunday when Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na'alowa bound their hands and shot them at close range.
The terrorist previously worked in the Barkan industrial area and has not been caught, despite a massive manhunt by security forces.
2. SMARTPHONES FOR KIDS? NOT THAT SMART AFTER ALL…

Earlier this week I started the car and drove up the local Rami-Levi. After all who doesn't like to save, right? On my way there, I noticed Noam, the kid from the 3rd floor, only in 3rd grade, sitting by himself at the bus stop, which seemed weird to me since it was past 9pm at night.
As I drove closer, I noticed he was concentrating on his cell phone and wearing his ear pods. I pulled over and was about to offer him a ride anywhere, when he jumped and immediately pushed his cell in his pocket. "Hi Mr. E…." he said. I realized that I had just interrupted something rather intimate that has no place back home. I sadly drove away as I had nothing to offer to the poor child.
So many young children these days deal with the smartphone challenge. The little device that made everything so easy. Easy to know American history, easy to prepare for a math and algebra test, easy to master language arts, and sadly too easy to be exposed to pornography, violence, shaming and other harmful web dangers.
It's terrifying to think that there is no barrier whatsoever between these young children and everything else out there. You hear our politicians tumble and rumble about economic crisis, wars that set to be or other concerns, but nothing about our children that are failing in the smartphone battlefield every day. Isn't there anybody who cares?
These days the average age to get a smartphone according to CNN is around 8, with that number going down by the day, and the amount of data going up. Every other child in the US is exposed to pornography at the mere age of 8!!! Phones and data are becoming easier to get and harder to manage. It is only me or there is a real crisis here we are all ignoring?
Here's the thing. There are some people who actually care, and their name is ScreenSavers. This phenomenal organization is going child by child, school by school, educating children in the proper use of smartphones. Topics that are normally ignored by the system or considered indigestible are now part of the agenda, and our children are loving it! Researches tell us that young adults are less interested in physical connection with the other gender due to high consumption of sexual content online. More and more parents are complaining about lack of "quality time" with their children, more and more couples that feel there is a wall of glass and aluminum between them called a smartphone…

3. IDF WON'T BUY VEGETABLES FROM GAZA

The IDF will no longer purchase fruits and vegetables from farmers in Gaza and Tulkarm, 0404 reported.
Previously, the IDF had purchased thousands of cartons of produce annually.
Tulkarm is considered one of the major "terror capitals."
According to the IDF, the recent decision is due to the fact that there is no shortage of fruits and vegetables in Israel, and therefore there is no reason to purchase produce from farmers living under terrorist authority.
A previous 0404 report had quoted the IDF as claiming that certain vegetables were hard to find in Israel. At the time, Israeli farmers refuted the claim, and said that not only was there no shortage, substantial amounts of produce were going to waste.
The Defense Ministry responded, "The IDF and Defense Ministry purchase fruits and vegetables from two licensed Israeli providers."
4. SWEDISH PROSECUTORS: NO REASON NOT TO DEPORT TERRORIST

Swedish prosecutors appealed to their country's Supreme Court against a lower tribunal's decision not to deport a Gazan immigrant who firebombed a synagogue.
The unusual appeal announced Thursday by the Public Prosecutor's Office is of a June court decision not to deport Gaza-born Feras Alnadim, who attacked a synagogue in Gothernburg in December with two accomplices. The appeal follows vocal protests about his trial by Israel and the World Jewish Congress.
Last month, a Swedish appeals court overturned a criminal tribunal's ruling from June stating that Alnadim would be deported at the end of his two-year prison term. The firebombing, he and his accomplices said, was payback for US President Donald Trump's decision to have the United States recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Since Alnadim committed a crime that "could be perceived as a threat to other Jews," and that Israel "might be interested in the matter," the appeals court ruled that one "cannot safeguard the man's fundamental human rights if he is deported to Palestine," the judge wrote in his opinion.
The Public Prosecutor's Office decided to appeal the ruling in the Supreme Court because "there is no reason to assume that the man would be subjected to death penalty, torture or other inhuman treatment upon return to Palestine," the office wrote in a statement Thursday.
Aron Verstandig, president of the Council of Swedish Jewish Communities, in a statement on Facebook called the prosecutors' call to appeal an "important decision." He said the community expects the Supreme Court to order Alnadim's deportation.

Say what you will about the Klein family of Beitar, but you can't say that they didn't have hope.
Mordechai Klein, father of 11, was diagnosed with stage 5 cancer two and half long years ago. His wife Devorah left her job as a sales clerk to help him, and their lives changed forever. On Monday night of Sukkot, Mordechai passed away.
He left behind a Rebbetzin and 11 children, 7 of which are still living at home. Entrenched in grief and debt, the Klein family is unable to afford the most basic amenities. The children are without clothing or school tuition, the rent for their modest apartment is beyond their means, and making shabbos is a near impossibility.
17-year-old Chaya Klein has, as many children do in times of grief, risen to the occasion of caring for her younger siblings. She has opened a Chesed Fund page on her family's behalf, in hopes of helping her mother sustain their household.
In the shiva house hangs a new sign, printed on simple white paper: ""Min hashamayim t'nuchamu - From Heaven be consoled."

MK Amir Ohana (Likud) spoke with Arutz Sheva about the terror attack at the Barkan Industrial Park this morning in which two were murdered.
Standing outside the scene of the incident, Ohana said, "This was a horrible, cowardly attack on innocent people that came to work together. I've been to this industrial zone, and this very factory, before, and what I have seen is Jews and Arabs working together, living together, having lunch together, rather than killing each other. This is coexistence in the making, and the enemies of peace are the ones who want to destroy it, both the ones who call themselves peace activists but want to boycott these factories, and of course the terrorists like the one we had this morning.
Ohana held the PA responsible for the attack.
"The roots of this terror attack came from the PA, the very same authority that pays salaries and bonuses to killers such as this one, the same authority that glorifies terrorists by naming streets and buildings after them.
"What the State of Israel should do is activate the Taylor Force Act and suffocate the PA from sponsoring terror the way it does now."
He said that there was "no other choice" other than for Jews and Arabs to work together. "Even if the so-called two-state solution, which I do not support and do not consider as a solution, [were implemented], we still have 20% of residents within the Green Line, our Ahmad Tibis and Jamal Zahalkas and Hanin Zouabis, ie. 'Palestinians,' as they call themselves, and we will need to learn how to live together in any scenario."
Pointing to the factory, he said that "This is the way to work together, to build bridges, and we should be encouraged to have more industrial zones in Judea and Samaria that will demonstrate the way to live together."

A woman wounded in Sunday's grisly shooting attack in the Barkan industrial area recounted how she hid from the terrorist after being shot.
"I came to work in the morning, as usual, and suddenly Lena, the girl sitting behind me in the room, shivered," said Sara Vatori. "As I walked out of our hall, the terrorist stood in front of me and shot me."
"As he shot me, I,saw that I was bleeding and all I had in my head was to breathe, that it would be ok, just breathe," said Vatori.
"Then I heard another four or five strong shots and I huddled under the table and then I saw that he had gone back to the office, I saw his legs, his jeans and his sneakers, and I figured if he found me I would be dead. You know, he did not look under the table, "Vatori continued.
"Fortunately, he was in shock. He did not even look under the table, he disappeared after a few seconds. I kept breathing until they came.
Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, 28, from Rosh Ha'ayin, and Ziv Hajbi, 35, of Rishon Letzion, were murdered in the attack on Sunday when Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na'alowa bound their hands and shot them at close range.
The terrorist previously worked in the Barkan industrial area and has not been caught, despite a massive manhunt by security forces.
2. SMARTPHONES FOR KIDS? NOT THAT SMART AFTER ALL…

Earlier this week I started the car and drove up the local Rami-Levi. After all who doesn't like to save, right? On my way there, I noticed Noam, the kid from the 3rd floor, only in 3rd grade, sitting by himself at the bus stop, which seemed weird to me since it was past 9pm at night.
As I drove closer, I noticed he was concentrating on his cell phone and wearing his ear pods. I pulled over and was about to offer him a ride anywhere, when he jumped and immediately pushed his cell in his pocket. "Hi Mr. E…." he said. I realized that I had just interrupted something rather intimate that has no place back home. I sadly drove away as I had nothing to offer to the poor child.
So many young children these days deal with the smartphone challenge. The little device that made everything so easy. Easy to know American history, easy to prepare for a math and algebra test, easy to master language arts, and sadly too easy to be exposed to pornography, violence, shaming and other harmful web dangers.
It's terrifying to think that there is no barrier whatsoever between these young children and everything else out there. You hear our politicians tumble and rumble about economic crisis, wars that set to be or other concerns, but nothing about our children that are failing in the smartphone battlefield every day. Isn't there anybody who cares?
These days the average age to get a smartphone according to CNN is around 8, with that number going down by the day, and the amount of data going up. Every other child in the US is exposed to pornography at the mere age of 8!!! Phones and data are becoming easier to get and harder to manage. It is only me or there is a real crisis here we are all ignoring?
Here's the thing. There are some people who actually care, and their name is ScreenSavers. This phenomenal organization is going child by child, school by school, educating children in the proper use of smartphones. Topics that are normally ignored by the system or considered indigestible are now part of the agenda, and our children are loving it! Researches tell us that young adults are less interested in physical connection with the other gender due to high consumption of sexual content online. More and more parents are complaining about lack of "quality time" with their children, more and more couples that feel there is a wall of glass and aluminum between them called a smartphone…

3. IDF WON'T BUY VEGETABLES FROM GAZA

The IDF will no longer purchase fruits and vegetables from farmers in Gaza and Tulkarm, 0404 reported.
Previously, the IDF had purchased thousands of cartons of produce annually.
Tulkarm is considered one of the major "terror capitals."
According to the IDF, the recent decision is due to the fact that there is no shortage of fruits and vegetables in Israel, and therefore there is no reason to purchase produce from farmers living under terrorist authority.
A previous 0404 report had quoted the IDF as claiming that certain vegetables were hard to find in Israel. At the time, Israeli farmers refuted the claim, and said that not only was there no shortage, substantial amounts of produce were going to waste.
The Defense Ministry responded, "The IDF and Defense Ministry purchase fruits and vegetables from two licensed Israeli providers."
4. SWEDISH PROSECUTORS: NO REASON NOT TO DEPORT TERRORIST

Swedish prosecutors appealed to their country's Supreme Court against a lower tribunal's decision not to deport a Gazan immigrant who firebombed a synagogue.
The unusual appeal announced Thursday by the Public Prosecutor's Office is of a June court decision not to deport Gaza-born Feras Alnadim, who attacked a synagogue in Gothernburg in December with two accomplices. The appeal follows vocal protests about his trial by Israel and the World Jewish Congress.
Last month, a Swedish appeals court overturned a criminal tribunal's ruling from June stating that Alnadim would be deported at the end of his two-year prison term. The firebombing, he and his accomplices said, was payback for US President Donald Trump's decision to have the United States recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Since Alnadim committed a crime that "could be perceived as a threat to other Jews," and that Israel "might be interested in the matter," the appeals court ruled that one "cannot safeguard the man's fundamental human rights if he is deported to Palestine," the judge wrote in his opinion.
The Public Prosecutor's Office decided to appeal the ruling in the Supreme Court because "there is no reason to assume that the man would be subjected to death penalty, torture or other inhuman treatment upon return to Palestine," the office wrote in a statement Thursday.
Aron Verstandig, president of the Council of Swedish Jewish Communities, in a statement on Facebook called the prosecutors' call to appeal an "important decision." He said the community expects the Supreme Court to order Alnadim's deportation.

Say what you will about the Klein family of Beitar, but you can't say that they didn't have hope.
Mordechai Klein, father of 11, was diagnosed with stage 5 cancer two and half long years ago. His wife Devorah left her job as a sales clerk to help him, and their lives changed forever. After his illness seemed to be responding to treatments, Mordechai was confident that recovery was on its way. Seven months ago however, in a tragic twist of fate, an infection spread throughout his body and he was admitted to the hospital. Above his hospital bed hung a picture of the family at a wedding, beneath which was written the cheerful text, 'We're waiting for you at home.' It was a symbol of their hope for the future, their optimism that their father would beat the disease. Their wait for his return, however, would not end. On Monday night of Sukkot, Mordechai passed away.
He left behind a Rebbetzin and 11 children, 7 of which are still living at home. Entrenched in grief and debt, the Klein family is unable to afford the most basic amenities. The children are without clothing or school tuition, the rent for their modest apartment is beyond their means, and making shabbos is a near impossibility.
17-year-old Chaya Klein has, as many children do in times of grief, risen to the occasion of caring for her younger siblings. She has opened a Chesed Fund page on her family's behalf, in hopes of helping her mother sustain their household.
In the shiva house hangs a new sign, printed on simple white paper: ""Min hashamayim t'nuchamu - From Heaven be consoled."

6. NAMES OF BARKAN ATTACK VICTIMS CLEARED FOR PUBLICATION

Kim Levengrond-Yehezkel, 28, from Rosh Ha'ayin, is the Israeli who was murdered in the terror attack this morning in the Barkan industrial zone.
An initial investigation revealed that a PA man who worked in the factory tied her hands and those of another man, and shot them at close range. They were critically wounded and later confirmed dead. Security forces are pursuing the terrorist who managed to escape from the scene.
Levengrond-Yehezkel began working at the factory a year ago, as a receptionist for the deputy CEO of the company. She leaves behind her husband, Guy, and her one-and-a-half year-old baby, Kai.
The name of the man who was murdered in the attack at the Barkan recycling plant was later revealed as Ziv Hajbi, 35, of Rishon Letzion.
A 58-year-old woman who was moderately wounded is hospitalized at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

2 people were murdered and another person wounded Sunday morning in a terror attack in the Barkan Industrial Park in Samaria.
Initial details found that the shooter, apparently a 23 year old PA resident of the village of Shuweika near Tulkarem who worked at a factory at the park, entered the factory with a rifle, ascended to one of the upper floors and began shooting. A man and woman in their 30s were murdered, while a 54 year old woman was seriously wounded and evacuated to Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikvah by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical responders.
The hospital later announced that the condition of the evacuated woman, who suffered from a stomach wound, was classified as moderate and that her life was not in danger. She was hospitalized for further treatment.
The shooter has escaped. Security forces are searching the area for the suspect.
MDA medics David Baruchi and Neria Ketua described the scene. "When we arrived, there was chaos at the scene. People shouted that there were wounded persons inside, they led us in to one of the rooms, we saw a man and woman of about 30 lying unconscious without pulse and not breathing. We undertook medical checks, they had no vital signs and we were forced to confirm their deaths."
"We searched the scene and found another 54 year old woman under one of the tables. She was fully responsive with a gunshot wound to her upper body. With the help of MDA EMT Hadas Wilps, we extricated her and provided lifesaving medical treatment including hemorrhage control, medications, and we evacuated her to Belinson with severe yet stable injuries. During the evacuation, she was interacting with us, and was able to recount the incident. She also requested that we notify her family, which we did."
Ketua added that "On the way to the hospital, the wounded woman related that she had heard noise and gone outside to understand what was happening, and found herself in front of the attacker, who shot at her."

2. REPORT: QATAR TRANSFERRING FUNDS TO HAMAS - VIA ISRAEL

Qatar has begun sending funds to Gaza, Lebanon's Al Akhbar reported Saturday.
The transfer has been approved by both the US and the United Nations (UN).
According to Channel 2, Qatar began transferring the funds to Gaza via Israel, while circumventing the Palestinian Authority's authority.
The funds are intended to be used to pay for six months of electricity for Gaza, as well as to pay the salaries of Hamas terrorists in Gaza for the next three months. Channel 2 added that the UN told Hamas that it intends to build a large desalination facility.
Israel also agreed to provide entry visas for 5,000 Gaza merchants, the report said.
Egypt, for its part, promised Hamas that it would loosen requirements for Gazans wishing to cross into Egypt, and said that it would make the technology at the border more efficient. This, Egypt said, would "significantly" increase the number of people and merchandise allowed to cross the border each day.
3. 'OUTRIGHT GENTILES ON WAY TO ISRAEL'

The government is expected to approve bringing to Israel some 1,000 relatives of Ethiopian Falashmura.
According to the proposal submitted by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, in the coming year, non-Jews will be allowed to immigrate to Israel who are family members of those who came by virtue of belonging to the Falashmura community.
Thus, for example, a Christian woman who married a men from the Falashmura community and immigrated to Israel will be entitled to apply for her parents and single brothers if they reside in the Ethiopian immigrant camps and declare intention to convert.
According to the decision, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and the Population and Immigration Authority will examine the immigration applications and approve them.
A senior legal source involved in the matter explained to Arutz Sheva that the draft resolution introduces a standard that is not approved in regard to Jews in other countries.
The proposal comes with a heavy cost of NIS 183 million, not including the cost of naturalization.
"This is a proposal to bring outright non-Jews who weren't approved in any of the previous waves, even though those waves already blatantly failed with aliyah of people with a weak connection to Judaism, in contrast to the welcome immigration of our Ethiopian Jewish brothers who immigrated earlier," says the legal source.
"Now they're taking the last of the Falashmura wives who immigrated to Israel by virtue of the last wide-reaching decision that MK Neguise got in the 61st coalition, and that their parents can also immigrate with their unmarried children. True, they should belong to the community of those seeking immigration in Gondar or Addis Ababa - but these are people who were found ineligible for immigration in any previous expansive round."
The source notes that previous government decisions explicitly stated no more groups would be brought for aliyah. In 2016, they confirmed another 1,300 and now add another 1,000 who are relatives of the 2016 immigrants who came to Israel due to their proximity to the 2015 immigrants. "There's no end to this, and now the government's decision explicitly states that more than 1,000 will be sent back to the government for further consideration and approval.
"Even worse, this is a precedent that may be applied to immigrants from all over the world. The grandchild clause, and practically - the step-grandchild, is more than expansive enough. But at least today they don't extend the entitlement to parents, siblings, and older children.
"Now even this will break. As the Prime Minister's Office director suggests, spouses of Jewish grandchildren from other parts of the world will also ask to bring their relatives on aliyah. This is an endless chain of relatives. It's essential to stop this decision."
The Kohelet Forum issued its position on the decision: "Anyone whose Jewishness is proven doesn't need this governments decision, since his entitlement already exists in the Law of Return.
"The government's decision to bring the Falashmura to Israel was already an extension that required study. But now they want to bring the Falashmura's non-Jewish family. For example, if a Falashmura married a Christian woman and she and her family joined the Gondar camp, if the couple immigrated to Israel, the woman could demand immigration of her parents and unmarried brothers."
4. ISRAELI NATIONAL TEAM WON'T BE BROADCAST IN JUDEA AND SAMARIA?

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation Kann won the broadcasting rights tender published by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) through the American company CAA11 in November 2017, allowing it to broadcast the national team's qualifying games for the Euro and World Cup.
According to market estimates, the Corporation is supposed to pay about five million euros for the rights, including the possibility of broadcasting the games in Hebrew on Channel 11 and in Arabic on channel 33.
However, this morning Yediot Aharonot reported that a contract signed by UEFA states that rights will be valid in Israel only, not including the "Palestinian territories" that include Judea and Samaria - where there are Israeli cities, towns, and villages - and Gaza. UEFA also did not clarify whether they were referring to eastern Jerusalem.
The demand stems from the fact that the broadcasting rights in the "Palestinian territories" were acquired by a Qatari company. However, the significance for the Corporation is that it will not be possible to broadcast the games in areas such as Ariel and Ma'aleh Adumim.
UEFA told the company a year ago that the desired model is where the broadcast will be received only by Israeli decoder owners - Hot, Yes, Idan Plus, Cellcom, and Partner - and will be locked for direct reception from the satellite outside of Israel.
Kann told CAA11 they would not be able to prevent broadcasts to Israelis living in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, and stressed that since the broadcast would not be received via open satellite, the demand was superfluous. "The corporation will only sign a contract that will enable it to broadcast to all Israeli citizens, both in Hebrew and in Arabic, regardless of their area of residence," the company representing UEFA was told.
The European Football Association stressed that they understand the Corporation's demand, but a year later they did not produce a contract confirming the request.
Kann declined to comment.

A mob of approximately 20,000 Gazans on Friday afternoon burned tires, threw bombs and grenades, and attempted to break through the border fence with Israel.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that 10 armed terrorists were able to break through the fence and were stopped by IDF forces.
In response, an IDF aircraft carried out two strikes in Gaza.
The Hamas-run "health ministry" in Gaza claimed that two Gazan Arabs, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed by Israeli fire in the clashes along the border.
A further 142 people were wounded including five in a critical condition, a spokesman for the bureau told AFP.
Earlier on Friday, the IDF blocked several roads near the border between Israel and Gaza ahead of the expected clashes.
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman warned Hamas earlier, "We made it through the Tishrei holidays as we had planned. There was no escalation, and rioters on the Gaza border paid a high price. We are past the holidays now, and I am telling Hamas's leaders: 'Take this into account.'
Hamas responded by calling Liberman's statement "empty words in the face of the Palestinian will to break the siege on Gaza" and vowing that "The Marches of Return will grow stronger."
The so-called "March of the Return" border riots have been ongoing every Friday since March 30, but in recent weeks have become more frequent and have taken place on other days of the week as well.
Senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar declared on Sunday that the border riots along the Gaza border will continue until they achieve their goals.
"The Marches of Return will not end, no matter how much pressure they put on us," al-Zahar stressed.

8. THAI HOTEL HAS A POPULAR NAZI-THEMED ROOM

One of the most popular rooms in a hotel in Thailand is full of Nazi symbols and portraits of Hitler, and Jewish leaders are furious.
The British tabloid The Sun first reported on the reaction to the so-called "Communist" room at the Villa Love Hotel in Bangkok on Wednesday. Alongside the Hitler and swastika renderings on the walls are images of a hammer and sickle.
"This is truly awful," said Efraim Zuroff, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. "It's horrendous, absolutely disgusting. It shows a complete lack of knowledge and education about Hitler, the harm he caused and the horrifying crimes that he committed in World War II."
A receptionist at the hotel confirmed that the Communist room is very popular.
"The idea that anyone can view Hitler as some kind of iconic figure worthy of decorating a hotel room with is disgusting," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, also of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

2 people were murdered and another person wounded Sunday morning in a terror attack in the Barkan Industrial Park in Samaria.
Initial details found that the shooter, apparently a 23 year old PA resident of the village of Shuweika near Tulkarem who worked at a factory at the park, entered the factory with a rifle, ascended to one of the upper floors and began shooting. A man and woman in their 30s were murdered, while a 54 year old woman was seriously wounded and evacuated to Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikvah by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical responders.
The hospital later announced that the condition of the evacuated woman, who suffered from a stomach wound, was classified as moderate and that her life was not in danger. She was hospitalized for further treatment.
The shooter has escaped. Security forces are searching the area for the suspect.
MDA medics David Baruchi and Neria Ketua described the scene. "When we arrived, there was chaos at the scene. People shouted that there were wounded persons inside, they led us in to one of the rooms, we saw a man and woman of about 30 lying unconscious without pulse and not breathing. We undertook medical checks, they had no vital signs and we were forced to confirm their deaths."
"We searched the scene and found another 54 year old woman under one of the tables. She was fully responsive with a gunshot wound to her upper body. With the help of MDA EMT Hadas Wilps, we extricated her and provided lifesaving medical treatment including hemorrhage control, medications, and we evacuated her to Belinson with severe yet stable injuries. During the evacuation, she was interacting with us, and was able to recount the incident. She also requested that we notify her family, which we did."
Ketua added that "On the way to the hospital, the wounded woman related that she had heard noise and gone outside to understand what was happening, and found herself in front of the attacker, who shot at her."

2. REPORT: QATAR TRANSFERRING FUNDS TO HAMAS - VIA ISRAEL

Qatar has begun sending funds to Gaza, Lebanon's Al Akhbar reported Saturday.
The transfer has been approved by both the US and the United Nations (UN).
According to Channel 2, Qatar began transferring the funds to Gaza via Israel, while circumventing the Palestinian Authority's authority.
The funds are intended to be used to pay for six months of electricity for Gaza, as well as to pay the salaries of Hamas terrorists in Gaza for the next three months. Channel 2 added that the UN told Hamas that it intends to build a large desalination facility.
Israel also agreed to provide entry visas for 5,000 Gaza merchants, the report said.
Egypt, for its part, promised Hamas that it would loosen requirements for Gazans wishing to cross into Egypt, and said that it would make the technology at the border more efficient. This, Egypt said, would "significantly" increase the number of people and merchandise allowed to cross the border each day.
3. 'OUTRIGHT GENTILES ON WAY TO ISRAEL'

The government is expected to approve bringing to Israel some 1,000 relatives of Ethiopian Falashmura.
According to the proposal submitted by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, in the coming year, non-Jews will be allowed to immigrate to Israel who are family members of those who came by virtue of belonging to the Falashmura community.
Thus, for example, a Christian woman who married a men from the Falashmura community and immigrated to Israel will be entitled to apply for her parents and single brothers if they reside in the Ethiopian immigrant camps and declare intention to convert.
According to the decision, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and the Population and Immigration Authority will examine the immigration applications and approve them.
A senior legal source involved in the matter explained to Arutz Sheva that the draft resolution introduces a standard that is not approved in regard to Jews in other countries.
The proposal comes with a heavy cost of NIS 183 million, not including the cost of naturalization.
"This is a proposal to bring outright non-Jews who weren't approved in any of the previous waves, even though those waves already blatantly failed with aliyah of people with a weak connection to Judaism, in contrast to the welcome immigration of our Ethiopian Jewish brothers who immigrated earlier," says the legal source.
"Now they're taking the last of the Falashmura wives who immigrated to Israel by virtue of the last wide-reaching decision that MK Neguise got in the 61st coalition, and that their parents can also immigrate with their unmarried children. True, they should belong to the community of those seeking immigration in Gondar or Addis Ababa - but these are people who were found ineligible for immigration in any previous expansive round."
The source notes that previous government decisions explicitly stated no more groups would be brought for aliyah. In 2016, they confirmed another 1,300 and now add another 1,000 who are relatives of the 2016 immigrants who came to Israel due to their proximity to the 2015 immigrants. "There's no end to this, and now the government's decision explicitly states that more than 1,000 will be sent back to the government for further consideration and approval.
"Even worse, this is a precedent that may be applied to immigrants from all over the world. The grandchild clause, and practically - the step-grandchild, is more than expansive enough. But at least today they don't extend the entitlement to parents, siblings, and older children.
"Now even this will break. As the Prime Minister's Office director suggests, spouses of Jewish grandchildren from other parts of the world will also ask to bring their relatives on aliyah. This is an endless chain of relatives. It's essential to stop this decision."
The Kohelet Forum issued its position on the decision: "Anyone whose Jewishness is proven doesn't need this governments decision, since his entitlement already exists in the Law of Return.
"The government's decision to bring the Falashmura to Israel was already an extension that required study. But now they want to bring the Falashmura's non-Jewish family. For example, if a Falashmura married a Christian woman and she and her family joined the Gondar camp, if the couple immigrated to Israel, the woman could demand immigration of her parents and unmarried brothers."
4. ISRAELI NATIONAL TEAM WON'T BE BROADCAST IN JUDEA AND SAMARIA?

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation Kann won the broadcasting rights tender published by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) through the American company CAA11 in November 2017, allowing it to broadcast the national team's qualifying games for the Euro and World Cup.
According to market estimates, the Corporation is supposed to pay about five million euros for the rights, including the possibility of broadcasting the games in Hebrew on Channel 11 and in Arabic on channel 33.
However, this morning Yediot Aharonot reported that a contract signed by UEFA states that rights will be valid in Israel only, not including the "Palestinian territories" that include Judea and Samaria - where there are Israeli cities, towns, and villages - and Gaza. UEFA also did not clarify whether they were referring to eastern Jerusalem.
The demand stems from the fact that the broadcasting rights in the "Palestinian territories" were acquired by a Qatari company. However, the significance for the Corporation is that it will not be possible to broadcast the games in areas such as Ariel and Ma'aleh Adumim.
UEFA told the company a year ago that the desired model is where the broadcast will be received only by Israeli decoder owners - Hot, Yes, Idan Plus, Cellcom, and Partner - and will be locked for direct reception from the satellite outside of Israel.
Kann told CAA11 they would not be able to prevent broadcasts to Israelis living in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, and stressed that since the broadcast would not be received via open satellite, the demand was superfluous. "The corporation will only sign a contract that will enable it to broadcast to all Israeli citizens, both in Hebrew and in Arabic, regardless of their area of residence," the company representing UEFA was told.
The European Football Association stressed that they understand the Corporation's demand, but a year later they did not produce a contract confirming the request.
Kann declined to comment.
5. BARUCH DAYAN HA'EMET: MORDECHAI KLEIN, FATHER OF 11

Say what you will about the Klein family of Beitar, but you can't say that they didn't have hope.
Mordechai Klein, father of 11, was diagnosed with stage 5 cancer two and half long years ago. His wife Devorah left her job as a sales clerk to help him, and their lives changed forever. On Monday night of Sukkot, Mordechai passed away.
He left behind a Rebbetzin and 11 children, 7 of which are still living at home. Entrenched in grief and debt, the Klein family is unable to afford the most basic amenities. The children are without clothing or school tuition, the rent for their modest apartment is beyond their means, and making shabbos is a near impossibility.
17-year-old Chaya Klein has, as many children do in times of grief, risen to the occasion of caring for her younger siblings. She has opened a Chesed Fund page on her family's behalf, in hopes of helping her mother sustain their household.
In the shiva house hangs a new sign, printed on simple white paper: ""Min hashamayim t'nuchamu - From Heaven be consoled."

1. DM TO HAMAS: DON'T ESCALATE THE SITUATION

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) on Friday morning warned Hamas not to escalate the situation in Gaza.
"We've had a month of holidays, exactly as we planned, with no explosions," Liberman tweeted. "We extracted a heavy price from the Gaza rioters. And now we're back to routine."
"I warn Hamas leaders. Take it into account. And I thank the IDF soldiers."
The IDF's Southern Command is preparing for the weekly Gaza riots, and has brought in reinforcements as well as an Iron Dome battery.
"We have no intelligence on terror attacks, and this has nothing to do with [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar's interview," an IDF source said. "We are working based on security needs. The reinforcement of our forces in the south is a need which stems from lessons learned in recent days, when there were over 20,000 rioters participating in violent demonstrations."
The source also said that considering the fact that the riots are violent and over 100 explosives and grenades were thrown at IDF forces last week, the IDF is not taking chances and has reinforced its forces on the Gaza border.
MK Moti Yogev (Jewish Home), who serves as a member of Israel's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, called on the defense system to stop accepting Hamas terror.
"We don't want war, but it's time to respond," he said. "After over half a year of the IDF accepting - for various reasons - terror activities. This acceptance has dragged our soldiers into a dangerous escalation which endangers their lives and harms the security of the south and the rest of Israel."
"We are obligated to defend our southern border. It's time to respond, deter, and return security to residents of the Gaza border area."
2. HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR WHO SERVED IN US MILITARY DIES AT 83

Sidney Shachnow, a child Holocaust survivor from Lithuania who went on to become a two-star general and the commander of US forces in Berlin during the Cold War, has died.
Shachnow died Friday in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where he lived. He was 83.
He and his family survived the Holocaust in Lithuania, where he was imprisoned for three years in the Kovno concentration camp, by keeping their heads low and showing restraint. According to his autobiography, "Hope and Honor," the same level-headedness guided him through the pains of assimilation as a young refugee living in Salem, Massachusetts, and then through a career in the military.
His stint, including a turn in the Green Berets in Vietnam and as an officer in an undercover unit infiltrating East Germany, ended with his command of US forces in Berlin when the Wall came down in 1989. Among the medals he earned were the Bronze Star, the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
His description of his childhood in Lithuania is heartbreaking and includes the shattering experience of witnessing a Lithuanian partisan rape his mother while his father hid under the bed. His mother had ordered his father into hiding, knowing that the discovery of adult males could mean a death sentence, but it appears as if Shachnow could never shake off the experience.
"I thought my father would go out and help," he wrote. "He didn't. I thought he was a coward. Maybe I was a coward, too."
Shachnow was also on the board of advisers of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, or JINSA, and appeared at a Jewish War Veterans event.
In a statement, JINSA Chairman David Steinmann said that the organization "was beyond privileged to have Sid as a Senior Adviser for nearly 25 years."
"Two years ago, when he was honored among our Senior Advisers, Sid asked me to say the following words on his behalf, as his photograph was displayed on the great screen at our annual dinner," Steinmann recalled.
"'I am a Jew and a Holocaust survivor (the only survivor to attain the rank of general in the history of the Armed Forces). I was assigned as the Commanding General, Berlin and the Berlin Brigade. Defending the German people, the same people who imprisoned me for three years in a concentration camp. The same people who killed 38 thousand prisoners and left only 2,000 survivors in that camp, one of which I happen to be. I was prepared to fight the Russians, who liberated me. The irony is hard to miss.'"
Shachnow "was an American and Jewish hero," said JINSA's CEO, Michael Makovsky.
"He was a very impressive man and his accomplishments were even greater," Jewish War Veterans National Commander Barry Schneider said in a statement. "His contributions to our American military and to Jewish military history has majorly impacted the lives of Americans and Jewish Americans in ways that we cannot even know."
"Our brother Gen. Shachnow will be sorely missed."
Schachnow is survived by his wife, Arlene, four daughters and many grandchildren.
3. NETANYAHU UNDERGOES NEW GRAFT QUESTIONING

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu underwent a new round of questioning on Friday over one of several graft cases that have threatened to topple him.
The veteran premier's 12th round of questioning as a suspect in various cases comes two days before his wife Sara appears in court on charges of misusing state funds for catering at their official residence.
The prime minister has not been charged in any of the cases.
Netanyahu has been repeatedly questioned over allegations involving Israeli telecoms giant Bezeq and its largest shareholder, Shaul Elovitch.
The premier is accused of seeking favorable coverage from another Elovitch company, the Walla! news site, in exchange for policies that could have benefited the mogul's interests to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Netanyahu also faces interrogation as a witness in a case involving the purchase of three German submarines.
Israeli television on Friday showed footage of police officers arriving at his office.
The police and Netanyahu's office never confirm he is being questioned until the hearings are over.
Israeli media reported that Friday's questioning will for the first time cover two further cases in which he is suspected of corruption, fraud and breach of trust.
In one, he and family members are suspected of receiving around 1 million shekels ($275,000) worth of luxury cigars, bottles of champagne and jewelry in exchange for financial or personal favors.
Netanyahu does not smoke.
In the second, he is suspected of seeking a deal for positive coverage from Israel's top-selling daily newspaper, Yediot Aharonot, in exchange for advancing a law that would have limited the circulation of Israel Hayom, a free competitor.
His wife Sara appears in court on Sunday charged with misusing state funds to buy catered meals costing $100,000 (85,000 euros) by falsely declaring there were no cooks available at the premier's official residence.
Netanyahu, prime minister for around 12 years in total and with no rival in sight, has maintained his innocence in all the cases.
But the investigations have gradually ratcheted up speculation over whether he will eventually be forced from office.
So far his coalition partners have stood by him despite the allegations. He is not obliged to step down as prime minister even if he is formally charged.
4. SARAH SANDERS: 'LUDICROUS' THAT FBI SHOULD INTERVIEW FORD AGAIN

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed Democrat senators for insisting the FBI interview Christine Blasey Ford again.
In an interview with FOX News Channel's "AMERICA'S NEWSROOM," Sanders said, "The idea that the FBI needs to interview her [Christine Blasey Ford] again is ludicrous…if they [Democratic Senators] didn't get to ask what they wanted it's their own mistake."
"I can tell you that the whole world watched as Dr. Ford was interviewed for hours by the individuals who have to make the decision. That's the Senators themselves. They had ample opportunity to ask any question they wanted of Dr. Ford and if they didn't get enough that was their own fault, because they didn't step up to the plate and ask the questions they need answers to.
"The idea, somehow, that they now need to interview, that the FBI needs to interview her again is ludicrous. They had an opportunity to do so, they should have taken it and if they didn't get to ask what they wanted that was their own mistake."
Sanders also promised to "stay in close contact with a number of senators" and said she looks forward to working with them "to make sure we get this vote through over the next day or two."
Defending US President Donald Trump's reaction to the issue, Sanders explained that Trump wants "to see his nominee be treated fairly. He wants this process to be run the right way."
Last week, Ford provided the Senate with an account of an alleged assault against her by Kavanaugh when the two were in high school. However, an FBI investigation "found no supporting evidence of allegations of sexual misconduct" by Kavanaugh, who may be confirmed on Saturday.
5. BOLTON: IRAN IS THE WORLD'S CENTRAL BANKER OF TERROR

White House national security adviser John Bolton said on Thursday that radical Islamist terrorist groups are the top cross-border threat to the United States and its interests abroad.
"Radical Islamist terrorist groups represent the pre-eminent transnational terrorist threat to the United States and to the United States' interests abroad," Bolton told reporters, according to Reuters, as he presented President Donald Trump's new counterterrorism strategy.
He also said the United States faces threats from Iran, which he called "the world's central banker of international terrorism since 1979."
Bolton, an advocate of Trump's decision to abandon the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and of imposing maximum pressure on Tehran, said the administration's aim is to force all importers of Iranian crude to cut their purchases to zero.
Trump recently signed an executive order officially reinstating US sanctions against Iran. Additional US sanctions targeting Iran's oil and shipping industries will go into effect on November 4.
"It's our objective that there be no waivers from the sanctions that exports of Iranian oil and gas and condensates drops to zero. I'm not saying we're necessarily going to achieve that but no one should be operating under any illusions what the objective is," Bolton said Thursday, according to Reuters.
"You can look at the possibility of reductions leading to zero, it doesn't have to happen immediately perhaps," he added.
Bolton last week issued a warning to Iran, telling the regime in a fiery speech in New York that there will be "hell to pay" if it continues on its current course.
"If you cross us, our allies, or our partners ... yes, there will indeed be hell to pay," said Bolton at the United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) annual summit.
"According to the mullahs in Tehran, we are 'the Great Satan,' lord of the underworld, master of the raging inferno," Bolton said. "So, I might imagine they would take me seriously when I assure them today: If you cross us, our allies, or our partners; if you harm our citizens; if you continue to lie, cheat and deceive, yes, there will indeed be hell to pay."
"The ayatollahs have a choice to make. We have laid out a path toward a bright and prosperous future for all of Iran, one that is worthy of the Iranian people, who have long suffered under the regime's tyrannical rule," added Bolton.
6. TROOPS ATTACKED IN QALQILIYA

During an IDF operation in the Samarian Palestinian Authority (PA) city of Qalqiliya, a terrorist threw firebombs at the soldiers, who responded with gunfire.
The terrorist was wounded. A search of his body revealed explosive devices and other Molotov cocktails.
The soldiers provided the terrorist with first aid.
None of the soldiers were injured.
Separately, IDF, Shabak (Israel Security Agency), Border Police, and Israel Police arrested 13 wanted terrorists in Judea and Samaria. All of those arrested are suspected of involvement in terror activity, "lone-wolf" terror attacks, and violence towards Israeli civilians and security forces.
The suspects were taken for interrogation.
In another operation, IDF soldiers discovered illegal weapons in the PA Arab town of Rabud. All of the weapons were homemade. The suspects were transferred to security forces.
7. IDF SEARCHES FOR CHILD TERRORIST AFTER ATTEMPTED KNIFE ATTACK

A Palestinian Authority (PA) Arab attempted on Thursday afternoon to stab an IDF soldier.
The attempted attack occurred at a checkpoint near to Route 443, between Jerusalem and Modi'in.
The attacker, aged approximately 8, drew a large knife and shouted at the soldier. He then threw his knife towards where the soldier was standing and quickly escaped the scene.
Initial investigations show that upon arrival at the checkpoint the young terrorist aroused the suspicion of both the guards and the lookouts stationed at the checkpoint.
No injuries were reported.
IDF troops are searching the area for the suspect.
PA Arab preschool children are taught to take pride in aspirations to kill Jews. In addition, PA textbooks for years have included incitement to violence and hatred of both Jews and Israel.
In a previous terror attack, the terrorist wrote a will before carrying out the attack, quoting in it his old school textbook.

According to the report, there is a "dispute between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman over the appointment of the new Chief of Staff. According to an exclusive 0404 News report, Liberman is interested in seeing Major General Nitzan Alon as Chief of Staff and has even sent a message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu opposes Alon's appointment, who is considered an army man affiliated with the Israeli Left, whose statements are problematic and quite a few oppose him." End quote.
The 0404 News site is a serious site that often brings exclusive information, real scoops, that are not found elsewhere, especially regarding events in Judea and Samaria that other media ignore, because who cares about the hidden intifada in Judea and Samaria? But the label 'leftist' does a serious injustice to Nitzan Alon. This is part of the struggle that segments of the Right and some among settlers are running against Nitzan Alon, unjustly.
In conversations with several of the settler leaders in Judea and Samaria, they confirmed that as Central Region Commander, Nitzan Alon's attitude toward settlement was excellent. Everything he had to deal with was dealt with in the best possible way. His image as a 'settler eater' was earned in his former position as commander of Judea and Samaria Division between October 2009 and October 2011. As Division Commander he was indeed more rigid towards settlement. As Regional Commander, his conduct was completely different.
Mateh Binyamin Regional Council head and former Yesha Council Chairman Avi Roeh told me: "As Division Commander, I had a lot of friction with him, and as head of Regional Command he was excellent. As Regional Commander, his understanding was much broader. His attitude was practical and favorable for our needs. I didn't feel he was harassing us. We understood we were on the same side. There were things he allowed us to do, and there were things that he didn't, but my relations with him were good and correct, and bottom line he played the role properly. " Another senior settlement official added: "Nitzan Alon was a very good general, and he handled all issues we asked efficiently."

Kochavi has served as Northern Commander, Military Intelligence head, and Deputy Chief of Staff - a series of positions that prepare him for the high post. Nitzan Alon served as Operations Head and Central Region Commander. He lacks the position of Deputy Chief of Staff, which he can do as deputy to Aviv Kochavi that will prepare him to be the next Chief of Staff, if he decides (which is uncertain; we hope he doesn't) not to retire from the IDF and wait for the next round
Has anyone ever examined the political positions of Aviv Kochavi? I recommend not doing so, because then there may be stubborn opposition to Kochavi's appointment to the post - for the same illegitimate reason. His views, as well as the attitude regarding his views, as well as those of Nitzan Alon, should be left out of the game.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) on Friday morning warned Hamas not to escalate the situation in Gaza.
"We've had a month of holidays, exactly as we planned, with no explosions," Liberman tweeted. "We extracted a heavy price from the Gaza rioters. And now we're back to routine."
"I warn Hamas leaders. Take it into account. And I thank the IDF soldiers."
The IDF's Southern Command is preparing for the weekly Gaza riots, and has brought in reinforcements as well as an Iron Dome battery.
"We have no intelligence on terror attacks, and this has nothing to do with [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar's interview," an IDF source said. "We are working based on security needs. The reinforcement of our forces in the south is a need which stems from lessons learned in recent days, when there were over 20,000 rioters participating in violent demonstrations."
The source also said that considering the fact that the riots are violent and over 100 explosives and grenades were thrown at IDF forces last week, the IDF is not taking chances and has reinforced its forces on the Gaza border.
MK Moti Yogev (Jewish Home), who serves as a member of Israel's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, called on the defense system to stop accepting Hamas terror.
"We don't want war, but it's time to respond," he said. "After over half a year of the IDF accepting - for various reasons - terror activities. This acceptance has dragged our soldiers into a dangerous escalation which endangers their lives and harms the security of the south and the rest of Israel."
"We are obligated to defend our southern border. It's time to respond, deter, and return security to residents of the Gaza border area."
2. HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR WHO SERVED IN US MILITARY DIES AT 83

Sidney Shachnow, a child Holocaust survivor from Lithuania who went on to become a two-star general and the commander of US forces in Berlin during the Cold War, has died.
Shachnow died Friday in Southern Pines, North Carolina, where he lived. He was 83.
He and his family survived the Holocaust in Lithuania, where he was imprisoned for three years in the Kovno concentration camp, by keeping their heads low and showing restraint. According to his autobiography, "Hope and Honor," the same level-headedness guided him through the pains of assimilation as a young refugee living in Salem, Massachusetts, and then through a career in the military.
His stint, including a turn in the Green Berets in Vietnam and as an officer in an undercover unit infiltrating East Germany, ended with his command of US forces in Berlin when the Wall came down in 1989. Among the medals he earned were the Bronze Star, the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
His description of his childhood in Lithuania is heartbreaking and includes the shattering experience of witnessing a Lithuanian partisan rape his mother while his father hid under the bed. His mother had ordered his father into hiding, knowing that the discovery of adult males could mean a death sentence, but it appears as if Shachnow could never shake off the experience.
"I thought my father would go out and help," he wrote. "He didn't. I thought he was a coward. Maybe I was a coward, too."
Shachnow was also on the board of advisers of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, or JINSA, and appeared at a Jewish War Veterans event.
In a statement, JINSA Chairman David Steinmann said that the organization "was beyond privileged to have Sid as a Senior Adviser for nearly 25 years."
"Two years ago, when he was honored among our Senior Advisers, Sid asked me to say the following words on his behalf, as his photograph was displayed on the great screen at our annual dinner," Steinmann recalled.
"'I am a Jew and a Holocaust survivor (the only survivor to attain the rank of general in the history of the Armed Forces). I was assigned as the Commanding General, Berlin and the Berlin Brigade. Defending the German people, the same people who imprisoned me for three years in a concentration camp. The same people who killed 38 thousand prisoners and left only 2,000 survivors in that camp, one of which I happen to be. I was prepared to fight the Russians, who liberated me. The irony is hard to miss.'"
Shachnow "was an American and Jewish hero," said JINSA's CEO, Michael Makovsky.
"He was a very impressive man and his accomplishments were even greater," Jewish War Veterans National Commander Barry Schneider said in a statement. "His contributions to our American military and to Jewish military history has majorly impacted the lives of Americans and Jewish Americans in ways that we cannot even know."
"Our brother Gen. Shachnow will be sorely missed."
Schachnow is survived by his wife, Arlene, four daughters and many grandchildren.
3. NETANYAHU UNDERGOES NEW GRAFT QUESTIONING

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu underwent a new round of questioning on Friday over one of several graft cases that have threatened to topple him.
The veteran premier's 12th round of questioning as a suspect in various cases comes two days before his wife Sara appears in court on charges of misusing state funds for catering at their official residence.
The prime minister has not been charged in any of the cases.
Netanyahu has been repeatedly questioned over allegations involving Israeli telecoms giant Bezeq and its largest shareholder, Shaul Elovitch.
The premier is accused of seeking favorable coverage from another Elovitch company, the Walla! news site, in exchange for policies that could have benefited the mogul's interests to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Netanyahu also faces interrogation as a witness in a case involving the purchase of three German submarines.
Israeli television on Friday showed footage of police officers arriving at his office.
The police and Netanyahu's office never confirm he is being questioned until the hearings are over.
Israeli media reported that Friday's questioning will for the first time cover two further cases in which he is suspected of corruption, fraud and breach of trust.
In one, he and family members are suspected of receiving around 1 million shekels ($275,000) worth of luxury cigars, bottles of champagne and jewelry in exchange for financial or personal favors.
Netanyahu does not smoke.
In the second, he is suspected of seeking a deal for positive coverage from Israel's top-selling daily newspaper, Yediot Aharonot, in exchange for advancing a law that would have limited the circulation of Israel Hayom, a free competitor.
His wife Sara appears in court on Sunday charged with misusing state funds to buy catered meals costing $100,000 (85,000 euros) by falsely declaring there were no cooks available at the premier's official residence.
Netanyahu, prime minister for around 12 years in total and with no rival in sight, has maintained his innocence in all the cases.
But the investigations have gradually ratcheted up speculation over whether he will eventually be forced from office.
So far his coalition partners have stood by him despite the allegations. He is not obliged to step down as prime minister even if he is formally charged.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed Democrat senators for insisting the FBI interview Christine Blasey Ford again.
In an interview with FOX News Channel's "AMERICA'S NEWSROOM," Sanders said, "The idea that the FBI needs to interview her [Christine Blasey Ford] again is ludicrous…if they [Democratic Senators] didn't get to ask what they wanted it's their own mistake."
"I can tell you that the whole world watched as Dr. Ford was interviewed for hours by the individuals who have to make the decision. That's the Senators themselves. They had ample opportunity to ask any question they wanted of Dr. Ford and if they didn't get enough that was their own fault, because they didn't step up to the plate and ask the questions they need answers to.
"The idea, somehow, that they now need to interview, that the FBI needs to interview her again is ludicrous. They had an opportunity to do so, they should have taken it and if they didn't get to ask what they wanted that was their own mistake."
Sanders also promised to "stay in close contact with a number of senators" and said she looks forward to working with them "to make sure we get this vote through over the next day or two."
Defending US President Donald Trump's reaction to the issue, Sanders explained that Trump wants "to see his nominee be treated fairly. He wants this process to be run the right way."
Last week, Ford provided the Senate with an account of an alleged assault against her by Kavanaugh when the two were in high school. However, an FBI investigation "found no supporting evidence of allegations of sexual misconduct" by Kavanaugh, who may be confirmed on Saturday.

White House national security adviser John Bolton said on Thursday that radical Islamist terrorist groups are the top cross-border threat to the United States and its interests abroad.

Israel will use the F-35I stealth fighter to attack Syria, Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported.
The decision comes after Syria began receiving on Tuesday its new S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system.
The new system, sold to Syria by Russia, is intended to stop enemy planes - including Israeli planes - from attacking.
Galei Tzahal quoted a source in the Israeli Air Force who said that in light of the situation in Syria, Israel has decided to increase the use of F-35 stealth fighter in its attacks on Syria.
This step is expected to allow the Air Force to better handle the growing threat in Syria, the source explained.
"The coming attacks won't be the first, but they will be safer for the pilots in light of the new reality in Syria's skies," the source told Galei Tzahal.
"This is the most expensive weapon in the world, and it's the most advanced airplane in the world. Israel paid 125 million for each plane, and the Defense Ministry purchased 50 of the Model A planes... Our planes are called the F-35I. Eight of the planes have already landed in Israel and 33 are expected to arrive by 2021."
In May, Israel became the first country to carry out strikes with the F-35.
"We are flying the F-35 over the entire Middle East and that has become part of our operational capability," Israeli Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin said then. "We were the first in the world to attack with the F-35. The Israeli Air Force has twice carried out strikes with the F-35, on two different fronts.".

The situation in the small Tiberias apartment is unusual. Four children are crowded into one room, while Tzofia has a room to herself - but that room is empty, without even a bed.
Tzofia's mother died of cancer when she was only five years old. The pampered youngest child of a loving mother, she suffered terribly without her mom. Now 11, Tzofia is living with her older sister, Sivan, who has a family of her own. Sivan is dedicated to helping Tzofia learn to cope with life without her mother.
Sivan rented a larger apartment to give Tzofia her own space, but there is no money to purchase furniture for the room, not even a bed. Tzofia is traumatized from the loss of her mom and desperately needs therapy, yet the family has no way to pay."Please help us get through this terrible time," says Tzofia in a moving video.
It is inspiring to see the selflessness of a sister who gives away what her own family desperately needs to her younger sibling. However, the family finances are strained to the limit. An emergency fundraising campaign has been set up to provide Tzofia with everything she needs. All the proceeds of the campaign will go toward providing an orphaned girl with basic needs such as furniture and therapy.

3. 70-YEAR-OLD WOMAN KILLED IN BEIT SHEMESH ACCIDENT

A 70-year-old pedestrian was killed last night after being hit by a car on Yehuda Ben Ze'ev Boulevard in Beit Shemesh.
The MDA team treated the woman and attempted resuscitation, but ultimately was forced to determine her death.
"When we got to the accident scene we saw a badly damaged car with a shattered windshield," said MDA Paramedic Dror Eini.
"A few meters away, a woman of about 70 was lying unconscious on the road with a severe systemic injury, with no pulse or breathing," he says.
"The driver of the woman's vehicle, a 60-year-old woman who was in a state of agitation, was examined at the scene of the accident and evacuated in light condition to the hospital," he added.
Police officers summoned to the scene detained the driver of the vehicle that hit them. Traffic examiners opened an investigation into the fatal accident.
4. HUNDREDS OF ITEMS STOLEN FROM SUITCASES AT AIRPORT

A 52-year-old resident of Petah Tikva was arrested on Tuesday night for stealing from suitcases at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport.
The suspect, who worked as a porter at the airport, is suspected of stealing hundreds of objects from passengers' suitcases.
He was arrested after an investigation by Israel Police and Ben Gurion Airport's department for crime prevention.
A search of the suspect's home revealed a large amount of credit cards, perfumes, foreign currency, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, wallets, pillows, cellular phones, and tablets.
During the interrogation, the suspect initially claimed the items fell from the suitcases. However, he later admitted to regularly opening suitcases and stealing items from them.
He will be brought to the Rishon Lezion Magistrates Court for an extension of his arrest.
5. UNRWA EMPLOYEES IN GAZA FLEE TO ISRAEL

UNRWA said Monday it was temporarily withdrawing part of its foreign staff from the Gaza Strip following security concerns linked to job cuts.
It said in a statement it had "decided to temporarily withdraw part of its international staff from Gaza following a series of worrying security incidents affecting its personnel in the strip."
A source with the agency said around 10 staff members crossed into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Monday.
The Israeli defense ministry unit that oversees the crossing said an unspecified number of foreign employees from the agency known as UNRWA "were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Israel."
UNRWA employees in the strip have held strikes, sit-ins and other protests since the agency announced in July it was cutting more than 250 jobs in Gaza and Judea and Samaria.
Hundreds of full-time roles have also become part-time.
The cuts come as a result of US President Donald Trump's decision to cancel all aid to the agency.
The UNRWA source said a protest was held Monday outside a Gaza City hotel where agency officials were meeting.
The agency's statement said that "earlier today, a number of staff were harassed and prevented from carrying out their duties."
"Some of these actions have specifically targeted the UNRWA management in Gaza," it said.
It called on the authorities in the enclave run by terror group Hamas "to respond to its repeated demands to provide effective protection to its employees and facilities."
The United States has traditionally been UNRWA's largest contributor, providing around $350 million (300 million euros) a year, but Trump has cancelled all support.
Around 13,000 people work for UNRWA in Gaza. The agency also says more than 200,000 Palestinian Arabs attend its schools in the Gaza Strip.
Despite the removal of part of its foreign staff, UNRWA operations were continuing in Gaza, the agency said.
Its director of operations and other international staff were remaining in Gaza, UNRWA said.
6. 'WE WILL FIGHT TO OUR LAST DROP OF BLOOD'

The Jerusalem appeals court ruled Tuesday to revoke the residency of the terrorist who murdered four army cadets in a car-ramming terrorist attack in Jerusalem Armon Hanatziv neighborhood in January 2016.
Israel decided to expel the terrorist's relatives from Israel, due to the fact that they are not citizens here. However, the legal group "HaMoked: Center for the Defence of the Individual," which benefits from the support of the New Israel Fund, assisted the relatives of the terrorist to petition against their deportation from Israel.
In the hearing today, the state presented information according to which several members of the terrorist's extended family are suspected of having links to ISIS and involvement in terrorist activities, and therefore there is a security concern regarding their continued stay in Israel.
Meirav and Herzl Hajaj, the parents of Lt. Shir Hajaj, who was murdered in the terrorist attack, asked to join as respondents to the petition filed by relatives of the terrorist against the revocation of residency.
Representatives of HaMoked: Center for the Defence of the Individual said at the hearing that the revocation of residency deviates from [the state of Israel's] authority ... The family of the terrorist had no knowledge of [the terrorist's] intention. They are innocent. The interior minister does not have the authority to revoke residency."
Meirav and Herzl Hajaj, the parents of the late Shir Hajaj, said that "No one will return our Shir. We are here to prevent the next attack, God forbid. It is delusional that the governments of Europe and the New Israel Fund provide legal protection to the lowly terrorists who murdered our Shir and many other Israelis. We will fight here to the last drop of our blood against those who make their living by murdering Jews."
The legal adviser of the "Im Tirtzu" group who represents the Hajaj family added that "The discussion today revolves around the expulsion of the relatives of the terrorist Fadi Conver, the murderer of the cadets in the Armon Hanatziv attack, in order to ask the court to include Merav and Herzl Hajaj and the Im Tirtzu movement as respondents alongside the state of Israel. This is not only to make their voices heard and to present their position," he said. Rather, "The Hajaj family and Im Tirtzu want to join as real litigants because the status of litigants will grant them the substantive and formal right to appeal the ruling if they find it necessary to do so," he added.

7. FRANCE FREEZES IRANIAN INTELLIGENCE ASSETS

France decided Tuesday to freeze assets related to Iranian intelligence services operating in French territory, as well as the assets of two Iranian citizens, for six months.
Their assets were frozen amid a decision by a German court to back a decision to extradite to Belgium an Iranian diplomat suspected of involvement in an attempted bombing in Paris thwarted in June.
"An attempted attack in Villepinte was foiled on June 30," the French foreign and economics ministries said in a statement. "An incident of such gravity on our national territory could not go unpunished."
Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron told the UN Security Council that all council members had a goal of "preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."
The freezing of Iranian assets may indicate a change in French policy towards Iran and its nuclear weapons program.
8. MALAYSIAN PM: JEWS ARE 'HOOK-NOSED'

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Tuesday that Jews are "hook-nosed" and accused them of creating problems in the Middle East.
Mahathir, 93, the world's oldest prime minister, has been known for decades as an outspoken anti-Semite.
In an interview with the BBC's HardTalk program , Mahathir said: ""If you are going to be truthful, the problem in the Middle East began with the creation of Israel. That is the truth. But I cannot say that."

When asked why he wrote in a book that he wrote that the Jews had hooked noses, he replied: "They are hook-nosed. Many people called the Malays fat-nosed. We didn't object, we didn't go to war for that."

Mahathir was sworn in as prime minister in May - nearly 20 years after his last term in office.
In 2012, he wrote in his blog that "Jews rule this world by proxy." In 2003, he said at the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Kuala Lumpur that "1.3 billion Muslims cannot be defeated by a few million Jews. There must be a way. Israel will use the F-35I stealth fighter to attack Syria, Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported.
The decision comes after Syria began receiving on Tuesday its new S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system.
The new system, sold to Syria by Russia, is intended to stop enemy planes - including Israeli planes - from attacking.
Galei Tzahal quoted a source in the Israeli Air Force who said that in light of the situation in Syria, Israel has decided to increase the use of F-35 stealth fighter in its attacks on Syria.
This step is expected to allow the Air Force to better handle the growing threat in Syria, the source explained.
"The coming attacks won't be the first, but they will be safer for the pilots in light of the new reality in Syria's skies," the source told Galei Tzahal.
"This is the most expensive weapon in the world, and it's the most advanced airplane in the world. Israel paid 125 million for each plane, and the Defense Ministry purchased 50 of the Model A planes... Our planes are called the F-35I. Eight of the planes have already landed in Israel and 33 are expected to arrive by 2021."
In May, Israel became the first country to carry out strikes with the F-35.
"We are flying the F-35 over the entire Middle East and that has become part of our operational capability," Israeli Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin said then. "We were the first in the world to attack with the F-35. The Israeli Air Force has twice carried out strikes with the F-35, on two different fronts.".

Tzofia's mother died of cancer when she was only five years old. The pampered youngest child of a loving mother, she suffered terribly without her mom. Now 11, Tzofia is living with her older sister, Sivan, who has a family of her own. Sivan is dedicated to helping Tzofia learn to cope with life without her mother.
Sivan rented a larger apartment to give Tzofia her own space, but there is no money to purchase furniture for the room, not even a bed. Tzofia is traumatized from the loss of her mom and desperately needs therapy, yet the family has no way to pay."Please help us get through this terrible time," says Tzofia in a moving video.
It is inspiring to see the selflessness of a sister who gives away what her own family desperately needs to her younger sibling. However, the family finances are strained to the limit. An emergency fundraising campaign has been set up to provide Tzofia with everything she needs. All the proceeds of the campaign will go toward providing an orphaned girl with basic needs such as furniture and therapy.

2. DOZENS WOUNDED IN CLASHES NEAR GAZA

51 Gaza Arabs were injured this evening, including 10 by live bullets and the rest from tear gas, in clashes with IDF forces near the fence in northern Gaza, the Gaza Health Ministry reported.
Meanwhile, it was reported in Gaza media that the Israeli Air Force fired at ships preparing to participate in a naval flotilla to Gaza's northern shores to lift the siege.
Four fires broke out during the day in the Gaza area as a result of incendiary balloons, including two at Kibbutz Be'eri.
On Friday, seven Arabe were reported killed and 400 injured in clashes with the army along the security fence. Some Arabs arrived at several locations along the Gaza perimeter fence.
Some of them rioted and threw grenades, explosive devices, tires, and rocks at the IDF forces.
The IDF says two aircraft carried out attacks in northern Gaza in response to grenades and explosive devices thrown at soldiers, and a number of suspects crossed the border fence in northern Gaza.
3. IAEA TO NETANYAHU: WE'VE CHECKED EVERYTHING WE NEEDED TO IN IRAN

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano addressed Netanyahu's statements last week at the UN General Assembly, where the prime minister claimed the existence of an Iranian secret atomic warehouse.
Speaking at the the UN, Netanyahu was critical of IAEA's failure to take action after his disclosure of the existence of an Iranian secret atomic archive.
"Months have passed. The IAEA has still not taken any action. It has not posed a single question to Iran. It has not demanded to inspect a single new site discovered in that secret archive.
"So, given this inaction, I decided to reveal today something else that we have shared with the IAEA and with a few intelligence agencies."
Netanyahu went on assert "that Iran has another secret facility in Tehran—a secret atomic warehouse for storing massive amounts of equipment and material from Iran's secret nuclear weapons program."
"In May, we exposed the site of Iran's secret atomic archive, right here, in the Shorabad District of Tehran. Today I'm revealing the site of a second facility — Iran's secret atomic warehouse. It's right here, in the Turquzabad District of Tehran, just there, miles away," Netanyahu said, referring to a map of Tehran.
Calling Amano "a good man," Netanyahu challenged the IAEA director to "do the right thing."
"Go inspect this atomic warehouse, immediately, before the Iranians finish clearing it out," he said.
"And Mr. Amano, while you're at it, inspect the other secret sites we told you about. Once and for all, tell the world the truth about Iran," he added.
On Tuesday, Amano released a statement dismissing Netanyahu's concerns, in which he asserted that the IAEA has checked "all the sites and locations in Iran which it needed to visit," and that the IAEA "does not take any information at face value."
"The Agency uses all safeguards relevant information available to it but it does not take any information at face value. In line with established safeguards practices, all information obtained, including from third parties, is subject to rigorous review and assessed together with other available information to arrive at an independent assessment based on the Agency's own expertise," Amano said.

A Jewish woman from a remote village in Georgia who is married to a non-Jew and was baptized with her children into Christianity turned to the Rabbinical Court and demanded that she be identified as a Jew.

The woman appealed to the Great Rabbinical Court, which was faced with the complex and thorny issue of defining Jewishness for a woman born to a Jewish mother, but who in practice converted to Christianity and lives with her Christian husband.
Members of the Great Rabbinical Court, the rabbinical court judges Rabbi Eliezer Igra, Rabbi Aharon Katz and Rabbi Shmuel Shapira sat for a long time on the matter and eventually published a 46-page halakhic ruling that delves into halakhic and legal history on the definition of Jewishness.
Ultimately, the Rabbinical Court decided to accept her appeal and instruct the Interior Ministry to register her as a Jew, despite the fact that the Law of Return states that it does not apply to one who has converted voluntarily and one who is of another religion.
The ruling extensively reviews the issue of intermarriage from the times of Ezra and Nehemiah and the immigrants of Babylon who arrived in Israel, to the immigrants of our time. The ruling also refers extensively to the issue of assimilation throughout history and up to the present day.
Based on dozens of halakhic authorities and sources starting from the Shulchan Aruch, through the Rishonim and Acharonim and authorities of our time, the court decided that "1. The applicant is a Jew and not a different religion. 2. The law applying to the appellant is like that applying to a baby who grew up among gentiles, and she does not need to accept mitzvot and immerse in a ritual bath. 3. Even so, we must demand that she make a commitment not to go to church and, upon her arrival in Israel, that her and her children's connections be with Jews and not with Christians. 4. Following this commitment, the court will instruct the Interior Ministry to register the applicant as a Jew, and this is her legal status."
6. UNRWA EMPLOYEES IN GAZA FLEE TO ISRAEL

UNRWA said Monday it was temporarily withdrawing part of its foreign staff from the Gaza Strip following security concerns linked to job cuts.
It said in a statement it had "decided to temporarily withdraw part of its international staff from Gaza following a series of worrying security incidents affecting its personnel in the strip."
A source with the agency said around 10 staff members crossed into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Monday.
The Israeli defense ministry unit that oversees the crossing said an unspecified number of foreign employees from the agency known as UNRWA "were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Israel."
UNRWA employees in the strip have held strikes, sit-ins and other protests since the agency announced in July it was cutting more than 250 jobs in Gaza and Judea and Samaria.
Hundreds of full-time roles have also become part-time.
The cuts come as a result of US President Donald Trump's decision to cancel all aid to the agency.
The UNRWA source said a protest was held Monday outside a Gaza City hotel where agency officials were meeting.
The agency's statement said that "earlier today, a number of staff were harassed and prevented from carrying out their duties."
"Some of these actions have specifically targeted the UNRWA management in Gaza," it said.
It called on the authorities in the enclave run by terror group Hamas "to respond to its repeated demands to provide effective protection to its employees and facilities."
The United States has traditionally been UNRWA's largest contributor, providing around $350 million (300 million euros) a year, but Trump has cancelled all support.
Around 13,000 people work for UNRWA in Gaza. The agency also says more than 200,000 Palestinian Arabs attend its schools in the Gaza Strip.
Despite the removal of part of its foreign staff, UNRWA operations were continuing in Gaza, the agency said.
Its director of operations and other international staff were remaining in Gaza, UNRWA said.

He then decided to set up a medical center that would serve the city's residents in Bnei Brak. He purchased land that was intended for an urban pool, even though his friends and acquaintances warned him that he had put his money on the line and the city engineer sent him an explicit warning letter ... He did not deviate from his course and gradually raised the funds for the establishment of the medical center which was then called by every hospital in the area.
During one of his travels, he came to the Lubavitcher Rebbe for a meeting at his New York school and told him about his vision. The Rebbe placed an open signed check in his hand and told him to write down whatever amount he decided. Dr. Rothschild wrote a thousand dollars, and the Rebbe asked them to call it a medical center, and the doctor promised to do so.
Today, there is a whole campus called Kiryat Ma'ayanei HaYeshua, where two large medical institutions, one for the body and the other for the soul, operate.

51 Gaza Arabs were injured this evening, including 10 by live bullets and the rest from tear gas, in clashes with IDF forces near the fence in northern Gaza, the Gaza Health Ministry reported.
Meanwhile, it was reported in Gaza media that the Israeli Air Force fired at ships preparing to participate in a naval flotilla to Gaza's northern shores to lift the siege.
Four fires broke out during the day in the Gaza area as a result of incendiary balloons, including two at Kibbutz Be'eri.
On Friday, seven Arabe were reported killed and 400 injured in clashes with the army along the security fence. Some Arabs arrived at several locations along the Gaza perimeter fence.
Some of them rioted and threw grenades, explosive devices, tires, and rocks at the IDF forces.
The IDF says two aircraft carried out attacks in northern Gaza in response to grenades and explosive devices thrown at soldiers, and a number of suspects crossed the border fence in northern Gaza.
3. IAEA TO NETANYAHU: WE'VE CHECKED EVERYTHING WE NEEDED TO IN IRAN

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano addressed Netanyahu's statements last week at the UN General Assembly, where the prime minister claimed the existence of an Iranian secret atomic warehouse.
Speaking at the the UN, Netanyahu was critical of IAEA's failure to take action after his disclosure of the existence of an Iranian secret atomic archive.
"Months have passed. The IAEA has still not taken any action. It has not posed a single question to Iran. It has not demanded to inspect a single new site discovered in that secret archive.
"So, given this inaction, I decided to reveal today something else that we have shared with the IAEA and with a few intelligence agencies."
Netanyahu went on assert "that Iran has another secret facility in Tehran—a secret atomic warehouse for storing massive amounts of equipment and material from Iran's secret nuclear weapons program."
"In May, we exposed the site of Iran's secret atomic archive, right here, in the Shorabad District of Tehran. Today I'm revealing the site of a second facility — Iran's secret atomic warehouse. It's right here, in the Turquzabad District of Tehran, just there, miles away," Netanyahu said, referring to a map of Tehran.
Calling Amano "a good man," Netanyahu challenged the IAEA director to "do the right thing."
"Go inspect this atomic warehouse, immediately, before the Iranians finish clearing it out," he said.
"And Mr. Amano, while you're at it, inspect the other secret sites we told you about. Once and for all, tell the world the truth about Iran," he added.
On Tuesday, Amano released a statement dismissing Netanyahu's concerns, in which he asserted that the IAEA has checked "all the sites and locations in Iran which it needed to visit," and that the IAEA "does not take any information at face value."
"The Agency uses all safeguards relevant information available to it but it does not take any information at face value. In line with established safeguards practices, all information obtained, including from third parties, is subject to rigorous review and assessed together with other available information to arrive at an independent assessment based on the Agency's own expertise," Amano said.
4. FRANCE FREEZES IRANIAN INTELLIGENCE ASSETS

France decided Tuesday to freeze assets related to Iranian intelligence services operating in French territory, as well as the assets of two Iranian citizens, for six months.
Their assets were frozen amid a decision by a German court to back a decision to extradite to Belgium an Iranian diplomat suspected of involvement in an attempted bombing in Paris thwarted in June.
"An attempted attack in Villepinte was foiled on June 30," the French foreign and economics ministries said in a statement. "An incident of such gravity on our national territory could not go unpunished."
Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron told the UN Security Council that all council members had a goal of "preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."
The freezing of Iranian assets may indicate a change in French policy towards Iran and its nuclear weapons program.
