IDF REVEALS SECRET HEZBOLLAH MISSILE PROJECT 8. COSTCO EMPLOYEE: 'HOW HOW JEWISH IS YOUR SON?' 1. ANTI-ISRAEL JEW CLEARED TO APPEAR ON MARYLAND'S 2020 BALLOT by Josefin Dolsten, JTA A Jewish socialist philosopher who met with the leader of Hamas is running for US president. On Wednesday, Jerome Segal announced that he would run as the nominee of the Bread and Roses Party he founded last year. The party supports policies on wealth redistribution, as well as guaranteed employment and income. Segal, 75, is cleared to appear on the 2020 ballot in Maryland, where he lives, and is hoping to qualify in other states. He told the Washington Post that he does not “have any fantasies about actually being president” but wants to add “something to the current political discourse that is lacking.” Segal is an outspoken critic of Israel’s right-wing government and has met with leaders of various violent anti-Israel groups, including the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Hamas terror organization. The PLO even took a significant portion of its 1988 declaration of independence from an op-ed he penned in the eastern Jerusalem daily Al-Quds. In 1989, Segal founded the Jewish Peace Lobby as a dovish alternative to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). In 2006, he met with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and said he transmitted a letter from Haniyeh to then-president George W. Bush. The United States, the European Union and Israel all agree that Hamas as a terror organization. In a statement Wednesday, Segal said he had been talking with Iran’s government, including its foreign minister, and that he “believes it is possible to achieve a re-set in US/Iran relations and US/Israeli relations.” Last year, he challenged Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland in the Democratic primary but lost. Speaking with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, he criticized Cardin, who also is Jewish, for his support of the pro-Israel lobby and for sponsoring a bill to penalize boycotts of Israel. 2. 'FEIGLIN WILL BE A MINISTER IN THE NEXT GOVERNMENT' by David Rosenberg 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/268109 Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke at a joint press conference with Zehut chairman Moshe Feiglin Thursday at the Kfar Maccabiah Hotel in Ramat Gan, after the two brokered a deal for Zehut to bow out of the Knesset race in exchange for a ministry in the next government. During his address, Netanyahu said that “for the first time” in 25 years he and former Likud MK Moshe Feiglin found common ground and “really spoke to one another”, citing their shared support of free-market economics. “We realized something that we knew, but hadn’t fully appreciated - that we are both committed to promoting free-market economics, lowering taxes, encouraging competition. We both support personal liberty and reducing government regulation.- you all know how hard I’ve worked in that regard – ending government interference that harms citizens and business owners, especially small-business owners. We both agree on a series of actions to reduce the cost of living.” Netanyahu also voiced support for reforms to expand the availability of medicinal marijuana, a long-time demand of Zehut, which also promotes full decriminalization of the drug. The Prime Minister also vowed to appoint Feiglin as a minister in the next government, calling him a “loyal ally”. “I see you as a minister in the government and I see you as a partner with a common vision." “I really mean it. I think that we will be able to work together in an extraordinary way to accomplish these goals.” “I call on Zehut and its voters to help us accomplish our shared goals.” The two agreed that the Likud would promote expanded access to medicinal marijuana in exchange for Zehut’s dropping out of the race, after polls showed the party well below the 3.25% electoral threshold – but still likely to draw tens of thousands of votes, mostly from the right-wing. Following Netanyahu’s comments, Feiglin lauded the new alliance with the Likud, saying the deal reached with Netanyahu would help promote not only easier access to medical marijuana, but also help small businesses, reduce bureaucratic barriers on imported goods, and remove impediments which make it difficult for immigrants in regulated fields to work in Israel. Feiglin added, however, that despite his support for the deal with Netanyahu that he felt obliged to bring the matter up for a referendum among Zehut party members. “Because I promised that we would run in this year’s second election, though I could not have foreseen this great opportunity arising, I feel morally obligated to bring the matter to you to decide.” 3. KNESSET SPEAKER: 'YOU GO TO THE STORE AND KNOW YOU'RE ON CAMERA' by Arutz Sheva Staff Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud) on Friday slammed the Blue and White party's opposition to placing security cameras in voting booths to prevent voter fraud. Speaking at a Shishitarbut (political and cultural forums that take place on Friday) event in Beit Shemesh, Edelstein pointed out that security cameras are everywhere. "If Blue and White, or any other party, does not support the initiative to place security cameras in voting booths, there is only one explanation for that: Either they are planning to commit fraud, or they are happy that others commit fraud," he said. "What other explanation could there be? You go to the corner store, you buy things, and you know that it's all on camera. Someone says: 'Privacy! How can you do such a thing?' So when every citizen has the right and obligation to vote, will this deter him from coming? Is there even such a thing as an Israeli citizen not showing up to vote because it's on camera? I simply don't understand what other explanation there could be." A new Likud party initiative would enact a law allowing cameras to be placed at voting stations. On Monday night, Supreme Court Justice Hanan Melcer, who chairs the Central Elections Committee, prohibited the placement of security cameras in voting booths, despite the fact that he acknowledged last week discrepancies between the number of voters and the number of votes at certain polling stations. In July, police began investigating a suspicion that at certain polling stations, votes were actively distributed among the parties, by station employees. 4. FINANCE MINISTRY TO REQUEST COURT ORDER TEACHERS NOT TO STRIKE by Orly Harari Negotiations between the Finance Ministry and the Israel Teachers' Union (ITU) ended Friday without a solution and with the teachers threatening to delay the beginning of the school year, scheduled for Sunday. The Ministry is expected to request that the labor court order the teachers to start the year on time. On Thursday, 2,000 teachers demonstrated at the Tel Aviv Museum, attempting to pressure the Education and Finance ministries to accede to their demands, most of which focus on pensions, the proposed reforms for special education, and teachers who work at several different schools. ITU Secretary-General Yaffa Ben David said at the demonstration: "We are not asking for donations from anyone. We are asking for compensation for our work. This is the most exhausting profession in Israel." "Until now, educators worked even when they were completely spent. They continued giving with infinite dedication. There's a limit to everything - the State of Israel does not respect educators, who are the spearhead of the State of Israel," she said. 5. PARALYMPIC TEAMS RECEIVE A FASHION MAKEOVER by ILTV [iltv:2062482] 6. NETANYAHU 'FRANTICALLY' TRIED TO AVERT TRUMP-ZARIF MEETING by David Rosenberg Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu frantically tried to reach President Donald Trump earlier this week as Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made a surprise appearance at the G-7 conference in France, Channel 13 reported Thursday night. Senior Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, pressed US officials, including US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, to arrange a phone call between President Trump and the Israeli premier Sunday, after it was revealed that Zarif would be joining the G-7 conferencei n Biarritz, France. Netanyahu and other senior Israeli leaders feared Trump could meet with Zarif, and possibly agree to a meeting with Iranian president Rouhani in a bid to thaw relations between the US and Iran. The Israeli premier reportedly tried to call Trump to urge him not to meet with Zarif at the sidelines of the G-7. According the Channel 13 report which cited unnamed senior Israeli and American officials, the Prime Minister’s Office feared a Trump-Zarif meeting could lead to the unraveling of the US sanctions regime against Tehran, emboldening the Islamic republic at a time when Israel has been working to thwart Iranian attacks from Syrian territory. While Trump did not meet with Zarif at the G-7 – with some senior American officials reportedly irritated by Zarif’s presence – French President Emmanuel Macron later explained he had invited Zarif to Biarritz in the hopes of advancing a meeting between Trump and President Rouhani. The report said Netanyahu was unable to reach Trump directly, and cited US officials who said President Trump had decided against meeting Zarif regardless of Netanyahu’s request. Both the White House and the Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment on the report. Despite the decision not to meet with Zarif, Israeli officials remain concerned that Trump could meet with Rouhani at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly in late September. 7. IDF REVEALS SECRET HEZBOLLAH MISSILE PROJECT by Arutz Sheva Staff 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/268104 The IDF on Thursday revealed details on Hezbollah’s Iranian-backed precision guided missile project, days after drone attacks attributed to Israel targeted a site allegedly used by Hezbollah to manufacture missiles. According to the IDF report released Thursday afternoon, the precision missile project was first launched six years ago, following Iranian transfers of missiles to Lebanon via Syria. “Between 2013- 2015, under the auspices of the Syrian civil war, Iran began its efforts to transport ready-to-use precision guided missiles from Iran, via Syria, to the terror organization Hezbollah in Lebanon,” the IDF claims. Israel claimed that the efforts by Iran and Hezbollah to build up a precision-guided missile force was largely thwarted by “attacks attributed to Israel”, with the IDF avoiding taking responsibility for the strikes, while emphasizing that “Hezbollah failed to acquire precision-guided missiles”. After 2016, Iran and Hezbollah shifted their strategy from transporting whole precision guided missiles to converting existing rockets into precision guided missiles on Lebanese soil. The plan was, according to the IDF report, to smuggle precision missile components from Iran to Lebanon, for the sake of converting ordinary rockets from the “SARS” Center for Scientific Research in Syria into precision guided missiles. In order to sustain the conversion of “statistic” rockets into precision guided missiles, Hezbollah established facilities across Lebanon, including in Beirut. The commander of the Lebanon Corps in the Quds Force, Muhammad Hussein-Zada Hejazi, oversaw the project, under the guidance of Qassem Suleimani, chief of Iran’s Quds Force. Iran is said to have established ground, air, and sea routes for transferring materials to Hezbollah units in Lebanon to produce the precision guided missiles. The land “axes” ran through official border crossing points along the Syrian-Lebanese frontier, while the air “axes” used civilian flights into Beirut’s Rafiq Hariri Airport, while thesea “axes” relied on the Beirut port. The failure of Iran and Hezbollah to build a precision guided missile arsenal from 2016 to 2018 led to the construction of specialized conversion facilities across Lebanon to enhance Hezbollah’s missile production capabilities. 8. COSTCO EMPLOYEE: 'HOW HOW JEWISH IS YOUR SON?' by Marcy Oster, JTA A New Jersey man has accused a Costco cashier of directing anti-Semitic remarks and questions at him while he was checking out. Irwin Levy filed a civil lawsuit on Monday in Monmouth County Superior Court about the April incident at the Costco in Hazlet. The lawsuit claims religious discrimination and negligent hiring and retention practices, and seeks an unspecified amount of damages, the Asbury Park Press reported. The lawsuit also calls for Costco to institute training against discrimination, retaliation and harassment. Levy’s son Justin works at the Costco. While he was checking out, a cashier asked the elder Levy “how much” of his son is Jewish. He responded that his son was half Catholic from his mother and half Jewish from him. The cashier responded that Levy’s son “has to be more Jewish than that” and that she meant it “in a bad way of course,” according to the complaint. She said that “Jews only see things in black and white with no gray area; just like Justin,” according to the complaint, which added that the cashier tried to follow him out of the store and continued to insult Levy, his son and Judaism, NJ.com reported. The lawsuit names Costco Wholesale Corp., a manager and the clerk who allegedly made the comments. It says that in the wake of the incident, Levy has had to shop at other Costco outlets that are inconvenient and suffered “mental anguish, humiliation and sleeplessness.” Costco would not comment to the local media, citing the ongoing legal case.

HEZBOLLAH: IDF VEHICLE WITH 'SOLDIER DOLL' ON THE BORDER by Yehonatan Gottlieb Lebanese sources report that the IDF has placed an IDF jeep near the Israeli-Lebanese border inside which there is a doll that looks like a soldier. The IDF vehicle is located in an area observable from Lebanese territory, and it is unclear what its purpose, and that of the doll it contains, was. According to some reports in Lebanon, the vehicle is intended as a lure to examine Hezbollah's response, while according to other reports the move is intended to show a presence on the border, but out of "fear of the response the Hezbollah leader promised." 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/268089 2. REPORT: US CYBERATTACK HURT IRAN'S ABILITY TO ATTACK TANKERS by Arutz Sheva Staff A secret cyberattack against Iran in June wiped out a critical database used by Iran’s paramilitary arm to plot attacks against oil tankers and degraded Tehran’s ability to covertly target shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf, at least temporarily, senior US officials told The New York Times on Wednesday. Iran is still trying to recover information destroyed in the June 20 attack and restart some of the computer systems — including military communications networks — taken offline, the officials said. Senior officials discussed the results of the strike in part to quell doubts within the Trump administration about whether the benefits of the operation outweighed the cost — lost intelligence and lost access to a critical network used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Iran’s paramilitary forces. The United States and Iran have long been involved in an undeclared cyberconflict, one carefully calibrated to remain in the gray zone between war and peace. The June 20 strike was a critical attack in that ongoing battle, officials said, and it went forward even after President Trump called off a retaliatory airstrike that day after Iran shot down an American drone. Iran has not escalated its attacks in response, continuing its cyberoperations against the United States government and American corporations at a steady rate, according to American government officials. The cyberattack came after the US government obtained intelligence that officials said showed that the Revolutionary Guards were behind the limpet mine attacks that disabled oil tankers in the Gulf in attacks in May and June, according to The New York Times. The military’s Central Command showed some of its evidence against Iran one day before the cyberstrike. The White House judged the strike as a proportional response to the downing of the drone — and a way to penalize Tehran for destroying crewless aircraft. The database targeted in the cyberattacks, according to the senior official, helped Tehran choose which tankers to target and where. No tankers have been targeted in significant covert attacks since the June 20 cyberoperation, although Tehran did seize a British tanker in retaliation for the detention of one of its own vessels. According to The New York Times, though the effects of the June 20 cyberoperation were always designed to be temporary, they have lasted longer than expected and Iran is still trying to repair critical communications systems and has not recovered the data lost in the attack. Officials have not publicly outlined details of the operation. Air defense and missile systems were not targeted, the senior defense official said, calling media reports citing those targets inaccurate. 3. NAURU RECOGNIZES J'LEM AS CAPITAL OF ISRAEL by Arutz Sheva Staff The country of Nauru in Micronesia announced Thursday that it recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel. Following the announcement, Israeli Foreign Minister Katz tweeted, "I welcome Nauru's important decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel." "Another step that matures and bears fruit, after President Trump's historic recognition of Jerusalem, other countries are taking this important step," Katz wrote. "We will continue to strengthen Jerusalem's diplomatic position. We will continue to work to bring more countries to the recognition and opening of delegations in Jerusalem. " 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/268084 4. WATCH: DOZENS RIOT IN ISSAWIYA VILLAGE by Mordechai Sones 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/268086 Dozens rioted during an IDF operation in Issawiya, eastern Jerusalem, throwing firebombs and rocks at police officers and media personnel. Police responded to allegations that media personnel were also harmed in the operation, stressing that media crews were asked to move away due to concern for their life: "the police have allowed and continue to allow the journalistic activities of media persons in Issawiya, in addition to preventing personal injury." Police note that in recent times, Israeli police officers have been dealing with violence and attempts to strike at them in Issawiya village, and only a few days ago a pipe bomb was thrown at Border Police officers there. These firebombs, rocks, fireworks, and other means of sabotage are also directed at Israeli citizens and not only at the police who seek to prevent, arrest, and eradicate these violent violations of order. "Thanks to police activity in the area in recent months, there has been a sharp decline in rock throwing, firebombings, and other crimes against innocent civilians and travelers." 5. NETANYAHU: 'DEAL OF THE CENTURY' WILL BE UNVEILED SOON by Arutz Sheva Staff Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded to US Special Envoy Jason Greenblatt's statement that the Trump Administration's peace plan would not be unveiled before the Israeli elections in September, "Tonight we were told that President Trump's Deal of the Century will be presented to the world after the election. I have a reasonable estimate that it will be very soon after the elections," Netanyahu said at a pre-existing conference. "Who do you want to negotiate with President Trump over the Deal of Century? Me, at the head of a right-wing government and the Likud, or Gantz and Lapid?" he asked the audience. "Do you think Trump or Putin will be particularly impressed with Gantz or Lapid? That's the question of this election, because the political issue will meet us in full force in a few weeks. Who will lead the State of Israel at this critical moment? This duo?" he said. 6. ISRAEL - OR ISIS? GAZA STRIP ON EDGE AFTER BOMBINGS KILL 3 by Arutz Sheva Staff, AFP A pair of bombings in the Gaza Strip which killed three officials from the Hamas terror organization may have been carried out by an ISIS-linked Islamist terror group, despite initial claims the bombings were part of a targeted Israeli strike. Hamas said Wednesday that two overnight bombings killed three police officers in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in what witnesses called suicide attacks as the coastal enclave was placed under a heightened state of alert. Witnesses told AFP that both bombings were suicide attacks by assailants on motorbikes, but there was no official confirmation. A source familiar with the investigation said a Salafist movement in Gaza that sympathizes with the Islamic State group was suspected. Hamas's interior office confirmed the three deaths, but spoke only of two "bombings" in Gaza City without providing details. It said two of the police officers were 32 and the third was 45. Two separate police checkpoints were targeted, it said. An investigation was underway as authorities pledged to track down the "masterminds". Hamas leader Ismail Haniya sought to reassure Gazans. "We assure our people that whatever these explosions are, they will be brought under control as with every previous event, and will not be able to undermine the stability and steadfastness of our people," he said in a statement. Suicide bombings are rare in the Gaza Strip. In August 2017, a suicide bomber killed a Hamas guard in southern Gaza on the border with Egypt. Hamas, itself an Islamist movement, has run the Gaza Strip since 2007 but has been regularly criticized by more radical Salafist groups in the impoverished coastal territory. The Israeli military said it had not carried out any air raids overnight, rejecting initial Arab reports the explosions were the result of an IDF attack. 7. PHILANTHROPIST EUGEN GLUCK PASSES AWAY AT 92 by Arutz Sheva Staff 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267979 Renowned philanthropist and lay leader of American Jewry Eugen Gluck passed away last night in New York at the age of 92. Gluck was a Holocaust survivor, and was later instrumental in securing the rights of the Jewish people to rebuild their lives in Judea and Samaria. Gluck was involved with multiple institutions and projects to benefit Israel and world Jewry including Shaarei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, the Magen David Adom emergency responder organzation, and the Yad VaShem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem. But the bulk of Gluck's philanthropic activities were dedicated to the renewal of Jewish life in the ancient biblical town of Beit El. Upon meeting the young Yom Kippur War hero and later-to-be Knesset Member Yaakov "Ketzaleh" Katz in the 1970’s, the Glucks 'adopted' the town of Bet El as the primary recipient of their philanthropy. For four decades, the Glucks organized, sponsored and presided over the Bet El Institutions' Winter Gala, what became the largest Zionist dinner on the east coast of the United States. Guest Speakers at the annual gala included prominent political figures such as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein and US National Security Advisor John Bolton. Gluck's philanthropy and organizational efforts were the driving force behind the establishment of the many educational institutions in Bet El including the Bet El Yeshiva Center for college-age men, the local Yeshiva High School for boys, and the Jeanie Gluck High School Academy for Girls. Literally thousands of students received their education at these prominent and sought-after schools, all under the sponsorship of the Gluck family. In 2002, the Glucks expanded their support even further across Israel by establishing the Gluck Israel Defense Forces Preparatory Academy in Bet El. The Gluck Prep Academy has since brought in over 1,000 youth from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds across the country, providing them with a vital year of intensive training prior to their army service. During their year at the Gluck Academy, these students undergo massive transformations, many of them moving from a life of drugs, crime, and welfare, to enlisting as some of the most dedicated soldiers in combat units, obtaining university degrees, and ultimately becoming well-adjusted and contributing members of Israeli society. The Gluck’s philanthropy did not benefit Bet El alone. Rather, their support fueled Arutz Sheva Israel National Radio Station, founded by Bet El Institutions in the late 1980’s, which became the first conservative voice on Israel’s airwaves. The radio station, along with a robust website in English and Hebrew and the nationally-distributed Hebrew weekly BeSheva, effected the political revolution which returned Israel’s nationalist camp to power, alongside massive construction to cement Israel’s sovereignty in the Judea and Samaria regions. Mr. Gluck and his late wife Jeanie were among the earliest American Jewish philanthropists to recognize the urgency and importance of extending the Jewish return to Zion into the recently liberated territories of Judea and Samaria and the eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem. In 1990, when Ketzaleh was promoted to be the senior advisor to Housing Minister Ariel Sharon in charge of building of 60,000 housing units in Judea and Samaria, it was Mr. Gluck who was on the phone with Ketzaleh several times a week to aid in whatever was needed to advance this effort. Modern day historians attribute to this period the greatest housing blitz ever in Judea and Samaria and, in effect, pushing the settlement movement to the point of no return cementing forever Israeli sovereignty over the region. "The fact that some 800,000 Jews live today over the green line in Judea and Samaria and the eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem is due in great part to this great, late leader Eugen Gluck, of blessed memory," said Ketzaleh. For decades, Mr. Gluck sponsored the central post-Sukkot holiday "Hakafot Shniyot" of the Jerusalem Municipality in the Jerusalem's Bell Park. Thousands of Jews from numerous countries and all walks of life united together for this celebration. Mr. Gluck was born on August 9, 1927 in Romania. Known by the nickname Yidel, Eugen was just a young boy when World War II broke out. After surviving the concentration camps, he moved to Antwerp, where he married Jeanie. The couple immigrated to New York in 1948. After his arrival to the United States, Mr. Gluck worked several odd jobs until he was finally able to open a bakery with his best friend. However, his yearning to accomplish more led him in 1956 to create Armitron Watches, one of the first watch brands to manufacture affordable digital watches for the masses. Armitron has since become a global brand and is ranked as one of the top 10 fine and fashion watch brands in the U.S. Mr. Gluck's close and trusted partner in building the Torah and the Land of Israel, Ketzaleh, said about his lifelong friend and mentor: "For 40 years, Mr. Gluck made the return of Jews to Judea and Samaria and numerous charities the central thrust of his life. He was a rare Jew who correctly read the map of Israel's future and contributed much to shape it. He was a primary force in changing the way the State of Israel relates to the liberated territories in Judea and Samaria. In the merit of his activism and philanthropy, this region will remain in Jewish hands forever." Mr. Gluck is survived by his three children: Sydney Gluck of Manhattan, Rosie Friedman of Forest Hills, NY, and Barbara Weichselbaum of Lawrence, NY. 8. PA THWARTS ATTACK ON MT. GERIZIM by Arutz Sheva Staff The Palestinian Authority thwarted a cargo bomb attack last week in the area of Mount Gerizim - a day before the attack near Dolev where Rina Shnerb was murdered. PA security officials told Kan Bet reporter Gal Berger that an improvised explosive device (IED) had been discovered along a road frequented by IDF vehicles. The explosive was neutralized and PA forces arrested a suspect. The incident is currently being investigated by the PA. The PA security establishment is on high alert amid reports that Hamas has trained engineers in Judea and Samaria to manufacture IEDs for use in terrorist attacks.

2. THE IRANIAN GENERAL IN COMMAND OF THE DRONE SQUAD by Arutz Sheva Staff General Javad Ghaffari, under the direct command of the 'Quds Force' Commander Qasem Soleimani, is the commander responsible for the drone attack on Israel over the weekend. Ghaffari, a veteran of the Iran-Iraq War, is one of the leaders of the 'Quds Force' - the secret force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards operating around the globe. Ghaffari currently serves as the commander of the Iranian forces in Syria and leads the Iranian entrenchment efforts in Syria. Under Ghaffari are tens of thousands of Shiites of various nations operating throughout Syria, including in Damascus, Aleppo and eastern Syria. Ghaffari recruited the activists, trained them and supervised the execution of the attack. The activists, Yasser Ahmad Daher, Hassan Youssef Zbib and two other Lebanese activists were trained to use drones in Iran, tried to launch killer drones into Israeli territory from the Arneh area on the night of 22-23/8, and were attacked on their way to make another launching attempt, on the night of 24/8. This week, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit launched its social media pages in the Farsi language. These pages were opened on the leading platforms in Iran: Twitter, Telegram and Instagram, under the name "Israel Defense Forces". For the first time, the IDF is launching official social media platforms for the Iranian public. With the opening of the Farsi accounts, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit will be operating social media accounts in six languages: Hebrew, English, Arabic, French, Spanish and Farsi. These accounts have millions of followers around the globe and they serve as important public relations tools for multiple target audiences. 3. FEIGLIN POISED TO DROP OUT OF RACE? ZEHUT CHIEF MEETS WITH PM by Arutz Sheva Staff Zehut chairman and former Likud MK Moshe Feiglin met Wednesday afternoon with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to discuss offers by the Likud to secure Zehut’s agreement to drop out of the race. The two leaders agreed on a plan to expand the availability of legal marijuana for medicinal purposes, which the Likud is expected to promote as part of an agreement with Feiglin for Zehut to drop out of the race. In addition, the Likud has offered to cover Zehut’s roughly 3-million-shekel-debt and appoint Feiglin as a minister in the next government in exchange for Zehut’s bowing out of the election. Feiglin said that the Likud and Zehut are “nearing an agreement in which” he would “give up on the race in exchange for a position in the government.” “We will open the cannabis market,” Feiglin vowed. The Zehut chairman said that the agreement would first have to pass a referendum open to all party members. “I will bring the agreement to a vote for Zehut members to decide. An unexpected opportunity has been created – to turn what appeared to be failure into a great success.” With less than three weeks left until the September 17th election, polls show Zehut with an average of 2% - well below the 3.25% necessary to enter the Knesset. Netanyahu, who hopes to win sufficient backing from the next Knesset to form a narrow right-wing government without Avidgor Liberman’s Yisrael Beytenu, has pushed Zehut to drop out of the race, thus reducing the number of votes going to parties unlikely to clear the threshold – and increasing the chances of a right-wing majority. 4. TEL AVIV, JERUSALEM, TO SEE A 14% INCREASE IN NUMBER OF STUDENTS by Arutz Sheva Staff Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Wednesday published statistics showing that the number of Jewish students is expected to grow between 2020-2024, while the number of students in Arab schools is expected to drop during that period. A full 1.819 million students will study in Israel's schools in the 2019-2020 school year, representing a 29% growth since last year. Over the years 2020-2024, the number of students in Israel's public school system is expected to increase by 168,000 students, for a total 1.958 million students and increase of 9.4% since 2019. During the same period of time, the number of students in the Jewish public school system is expected to increase by 857,000, or 10.7%. The number of students in the Jewish-religious public school system is expected to jump to 279,000, for a 13.2% increase in comparison to 2019. Meanwhile, the number of students enrolled in independent haredi schools is expected to increase 16.6%, to a total 384,000 students. The number of students enrolled in independent Arab schools is expected to drop by 0.5%, or approximately 2,000 students, to 437,000. The average annual difference in the Arab public school system is expected to remain static, with a 2.1% change per year, while annual change in the Jewish-religious public school system is expected to increase. In Arab and haredi schools, the annual rate of change is expected to decrease slightly. Most of the increase in the numbers of Jewish students are Central, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem districts, each of which is expected to see a 14% increase in the number of students between the years 2020-2024. 5. 25 FORMER ISRAELI DEFENSE OFFICIALS LOBBY AGAINST ANNEXATION by Marcy Oster, JTA Twenty-five former Israeli senior security and defense officials thanked Congress for passing legislation that endorsed a two-state solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict while rejecting efforts to boycott the Jewish state. The letter sent Tuesday also weighed in against Israel unilaterally annexing all or part of Judea and Samaria, as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has said he is considering if re-elected. “Any unilateral annexation of territory or extension of sovereignty to the West Bank will put Israel’s security and safety along with the well-being of its citizens at risk,” the letter said. It was signed by former heads of the Mossad and Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, and three former advisers to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. They expressed their appreciation that an “overwhelming, bipartisan majority of Members of Congress” affirmed “strong support for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two states.” House Resolution 246, which passed 398-17 last month, condemned the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel. Last week, 21 right-wing Israeli lawmakers in a letter to the congressmen asserted that a Palestinian state is “far more dangerous to Israel” than BDS. The more recent letter was addressed to U.S. Reps. Brad Schneider, D-Ill.; Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y.; Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y.; and Ann Wagner, R-Mo., the co-sponsors of the bill and staunch supporters of Israel. It also expressed appreciation for Congress’s “clear opposition to the BDS Movement and efforts to deny Israel’s legitimacy,” and concluded that “we look forward to future bipartisan congressional initiatives that explicitly identify annexation as a threat to Israel’s security, and Jewish and democratic future.” 6. REPORT: ISRAEL AND HEZBOLLAH AGREE TO PARTIAL CEASEFIRE by Arutz Sheva Staff Israel and Hezbollah have reached an unwritten agreement in which both will avoid attacking Lebanese and Israeli territory due to the risk of war, the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat reported. However, according to the report, exchanges of fire in Syrian territory may still occur. On Tuesday, Israel closed roads on its northern border to military vehicles, fearing an attack by Hezbollah. On Sunday, the head of Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorist organization on Sunday denounced an alleged "drone attack" targeting the Lebanese Shiite movement's Beirut stronghold, vowing to "do everything" to thwart Israeli attacks. Also on Sunday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun denounced the reported drone attack as a "declaration of war which allows us to resort to our right to defending our sovereignty. We are a people seeking peace, not war, and we don’t accept anyone threatening us in any war." 7. 8. RESTAURANT OWNER: 'ASK THE WAITRESS WHY SHE DIDN'T RECORD IT' by Orly Harari Supervisors from Israel's Tax Authority visited 92 businesses in Netanya, its industrial zone, Kfar Vitkin, and towns in the Hefer Valley, and found that a full 8% of businesses did not properly record their earnings. At one restaurant in Netanya, supervisors discovered that since 2017, the restaurant did not record its sales and business transactions properly. When asked, the owner explained: "I didn't know that I had to keep details of every transaction, and my accountant didn't mention anything about it." Entering a tobacco and hookah store, supervisors compared the credit card reports to the cash register's records, and found that some of the credit card transactions were not recorded in the cash register. There, the owner said: "There were seven credit card transactions that I didn't print out due to being overworked." At an ice cream store where a supervisor made a test purchase several days before the mass operation, supervisors found that the test purchase had not been recorded. The owner said: "I'll prove to you with the cameras that I recorded the purchase." The owner of a restaurant who did not record a test purchase from earlier the same day quickly explained that the fault was the waitress, telling the supervisors: "Let's ask the waitress why she didn't write it down." The operation was conducted as part of a widescale crackdown by the Tax Authority on tax evaders and undeclared capital, and part of a policy to increase enforcement and improve deterrence.

Mr. Gluck is survived by his three children: Sydney Gluck of Manhattan, Rosie Friedman of Forest Hills, NY, and Barbara Weichselbaum of Lawrence, NY. 2. FEARING HEZBOLLAH ATTACKS, IDF LIMITS ARMY TRAFFIC IN NORTH by Arutz Sheva Staff Israel's defense system on Tuesday morning decided to close several roads near the Lebanon-Israel border to military traffic, due to concerns that Hezbollah will retaliate for recent events in Lebanon and Syria, Israel Hayom reported. The closure, which includes all roads within 5 kilometers of the border, does not apply to civilian traffic. Affected routes include Route 8990, 8993, 8967, 886, and part of 899, Israel Hayom added. On Monday night, Hezbollah claimed that two Israeli drones fell in Beirut. According to their claim, the first drone was armed with 5.5 kilograms (12 lbs) of C4, a powerful explosive, and the second drone was armed as well but crashed prematurely. The terror organization also claimed that the drones were not intelligence drones, and that they had been rigged to explode at a certain point. On Sunday, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Sunday condemned Israel allegedly sending UAVs that fell over southern Beirut as a "blatant attack on Lebanon's sovereignty." "This new aggression... forms a threat to regional stability and an attempt to push the situation towards more tension," he said in a statement. Lebanese President Michel Aoun denounced the reported drone attack as a "declaration of war which allows us to resort to our right to defending our sovereignty. We are a people seeking peace, not war, and we don’t accept anyone threatening us in any war." On Saturday, the IDF foiled a planned terrorist attack by Iran, when it struck Iranian targets outside Damascus following intelligence that Iran was planning to launch armed drones at northern Israel. 3. BRITISH TEEN PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN CYPRUS RAPE CLAIM TRIAL by AFP A British teenager accused of falsely claiming she was gang raped by 12 Israeli tourists in Cyprus pleaded not guilty to causing public mischief on Tuesday. The court adjourned the trial until October 2 and the 19-year-old was released on 20,000-euro bail on condition she surrenders her passport and presents herself to police three times a week. Her Cypriot lawyer Nicoletta Charalambidou informed the court that she will request that the Cypriot attorney general suspends criminal proceedings against her client on the grounds that her rape claim retraction was coerced. The teenager was also represented at the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni in southeast Cyprus by British lawyer Lewis Power QC with Michael Polak from British legal aid group Justice Abroad supporting the legal team. If convicted the woman, who has not been named, could face up to one year in prison and a fine of around 1,700 euros. Initially, the teenager had alleged that 12 Israelis raped her on July 17 at a hotel in the resort of Ayia Napa, a magnet for younger tourists attracted by its beaches and nightlife. The Israelis aged 15 to 18 were released last month after the woman was arrested on suspicion of "making a false statement about an imaginary crime", according to Cypriot police. Justice Abroad, which is assisting the teenager, says she did not voluntarily retract the rape allegation. Polak, a British barrister with the organisation, has said the woman was refused legal representation, despite requests and in contravention of the European convention on human rights. Her parents are seeking donations for their daughter's legal defense by setting up a GoFundMe page which has already raised 23,556 pounds (around $28,900, 26,000 euros). "We maintain that the statement was given under duress and in breach of her rights, resulting in the collapse of the initial investigation and charges of public mischief being made against her," the parents said on the page. 4. NETANYAHU WARNS HEZBOLLAH, LEBANON: 'BE CAREFUL' by AFP and Arutz Sheva Staff Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday warned Lebanon, Hezbollah's chief and the head of Iran's elite Quds Force to "be careful" with their words and actions. Addressing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Netanyahu told a conference that "he knows very well that the state of Israel knows how to defend itself well, and to repay its enemies." "I want to say to him and the Lebanese state, which is hosting this organization that aims to destroy us, and I say the same to Qassem Soleimani: Be careful about your words, and even more cautious about your actions." Netanyahu's statements came after Nasrallah, Soleimani and the Lebanese president made statements threatening Israel. The head of Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorist organization on Sunday denounced an alleged "drone attack" targeting the Lebanese Shiite movement's Beirut stronghold, vowing to "do everything" to thwart Israeli attacks. "What happened yesterday night was a suicide drone attack on a target in Beirut's southern suburb", the first of its kind since 2006, Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech broadcast to thousands of supporters. "We will do everything to prevent" such attacks, he said. "The time when Israeli aircraft come and bombard parts of Lebanon is over." Lebanon's President Michel Aoun called the alleged attack a "declaration of war which allows us to resort to our right to defending our sovereignty." "We are a people seeking peace, not war, and we don’t accept anyone threatening us in any war," he added. Similarly, Qassem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, threatened Israel on Sunday after the Jewish state thwarted a planned Iranian drone attack. “These insane operations will surely be the last steps of the Zionist regime,” he wrote on Twitter. 5. "HEZBOLLAH ATTACK WILL BE MET BY 'DISPROPORTIONATE' RESPONSE" by Tal Polon The IDF’s northern command has been on high alert for the past two days over concerns of an attack on Israel, following threats from leaders of Hezbollah, Iran, and Lebanon, Channel 12 reported on Monday. According to the report, the IDF has deployed all the forces already in the northern area, while a decision to bring more forces to the area may be made in the coming days. The army believes that Hezbollah will attempt to attack military, rather than civilian, targets. A senior IDF official who spoke with Channel 12 said that, in any event, any attempted Hezbollah attack on Israel will be met with a “disproportionate” Israeli response. The report comes after the IDF announced on Saturday night that it struck Iranian targets in Syria, thereby thwarting an Iranian drone attack on Israel. Hours later, the Hezbollah terror group claimed that Israeli drones had fallen in the Beirut area. In addition, Lebanese media reported on Sunday night that the Israel Air Force had attacked targets near the Lebanon-Syria border. Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday night vowed to thwart Iranian attempts to harm the State of Israel, while also calling on the international community to take action against Iran. "Iran acts on a broad front to bring out murderous terrorist attacks against the State of Israel," Netanyahu said. "Israel will continue to defend its security however that may be necessary. I call on the international community to act immediately so that Iran stops these attacks. " 6. WATCH: IRAN'S QUDS FORCE ATTEMPTS DRONE ATTACK ON ISRAEL by Arutz Sheva Staff 📹 To watch the video: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/267881 The Israeli military released footage Sunday evening from an attempted drone attack by Iranian-linked terrorists in southern Syria last week. On Thursday, terrorists linked to Iran’s Quds Force in Syria attempted to launch a multi-pronged attack by explosive-laden drone aircraft on multiple targets in northern Israel. The bomb-carrying unmanned aircraft were to have crashed into targets in Israel in a kind of “kamikaze”-style attack, IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said. Israeli forces foiled the attacks, the IDF said, without specifying how the drones were repulsed. In the video, Iranian Quds Force members can be seen carrying one of the drones from the failed attack from its planned launch site adjacent to the Syrian viliage of Arneh. On Saturday, Israeli aircraft struck Iranian military targets in the village of Aqraba, southeast of Damascus, where the drone operation was centered. At least five people were killed, including Hezbollah terrorists and at least one Iranian official, the London-based Syrian Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor group. Map of Israeli airstrikes in Syria IDF spokesperson 7. IDF REVEALS: IRAN ATTEMPTED DRONE KAMIKAZE ATTACKS ON ISRAEL by David Rosenberg Iranian forces stationed in Syria planned to use a number of unmanned aircraft carrying explosive material to crash into targets in northern Israel, the IDF said Sunday, adding that one abortive attempt was made to launch the attacks last week. On Sunday, IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus spoke with reporters and shared some details of the recent plot by Iranian-backed forces in Syria to attack northern Israel with drone aircraft. According to the Conricus, Iran’s Quds Force, part of the Revolutionary Guards, had been preparing for the attack for the past several months, and had recently dispatched four Iranian drone operators to Syria to remotely control unmanned Iranian aircraft during an attack on northern Israel. Each drone was to carry several kilograms of high-explosives, slip into Israeli territory, and then crash into Israeli targets – with each drone assigned to a separate target. The drones would thus serve effectively as unmanned suicide bombers, or "kamikaze drones" as Conricus described them, and would be destroyed in the attacks along with their targets. But Israeli intelligence had discovered the plot weeks ago, and kept track of the Iranian operation, which is said to have been personally overseen by Quds Force chief Qassem Soleimani. Conricus added that the Iranian forces in Syria even attempted to launch the attacks last Thursday, but said Israel managed to repulse the attempted infiltration. Conricus declined to specify how the attacks were thwarted. 8. POLL: RIGHT AND LEFT NECK AND NECK by Arutz Sheva Staff The recent security incidents have caused voters to turn to the larger political parties at the expense of the smaller parties, according to a new poll by Kan News. If the elections were held today, the Likud party would receive 32 Knesset seats, while the Blue and White party would receive 31 seats, The Joint Arab List would place third with 11 seats. The Yamina party would receive 10 seats. The Yisrael Beyteinu party would finish with nine seats. The Labor-Gesher list lead by Amir Peretz would receive seven seats, as would the haredi parties Shas and United Torah Judaism. The Democratic Union would receive six seats. The poll found the race tightening, with the right-wing bloc only one seat ahead without Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beyteinu party. The right-wing bloc would receive 56 seats, compared to 55 for the left-wing and Arab bloc. Neither side would be able to form a coalition. The Otzma Yehudit and Zehut parties would both fail to clear the electoral threshold.

TERRORISTS WHO MURDERED RINA SHNERB CAPTURED 2. PM: NEW NEIGHBORHOOD TO BE BUILT NEAR SCENE OF TERROR ATTACK 3. 'WE FEEL LIKE OUTSIDERS IN OUR OWN HOME' 4. NADLER HITS TLAIB, OMAR OVER CARTOON BY ANTI-SEMITIC ARTIST 5. THESE ARE THE TERRORISTS WHO WERE ELIMINATED IN SYRIA 6. WATCH: IRAN'S QUDS FORCE ATTEMPTS DRONE ATTACK ON ISRAEL 7. IDF REVEALS: IRAN ATTEMPTED DRONE KAMIKAZE ATTACKS ON ISRAEL 8. 'TERRORISTS WERE HIDING IN VILLA WITH A POOL' 1. TERRORISTS WHO MURDERED RINA SHNERB CAPTURED by Arutz Sheva Staff Israeli security forces have captured the terrorists responsible for the bomb attack Friday which killed an Israeli teen and injured her father and brother. IDF forces working with the Shin Bet internal security agency captured the terrorists in a pre-dawn operation Monday morning, days after 17-year-old Rina Shnerb was killed in a bombing attack at the Ein Bubin spring outside of the Israeli town of Dolev in Samaria. Rina’s father, Rabbi Eitan Shnerb, was injured, as was Rina’s brother, 19-year-old Dvir Shnerb. The three, residents of Lod in central Israel, had been hiking in the area when a bomb concealed under a rock was detonated. According to a report Sunday night by Channel 12, the explosive device which killed Rina and injured her father and brother included some three kilograms of explosive material, making it an unusually powerful bomb. Israeli security forces arrested several Arabs in the Palestinian Authority-controlled town of Ein Arik near Qalqilya over the weekend as part of the manhunt for Shnerb’s killers. 2. PM: NEW NEIGHBORHOOD TO BE BUILT NEAR SCENE OF TERROR ATTACK by David Rosenberg Israel will build a new neighborhood near the scene of a terrorist attack last Friday which claimed the life of an Israeli teenager and left her father and brother injured. On Monday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu directed the Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office to submit for Planning Committee approval at its next meeting, plans for the establishment of a new neighborhood in Dolev, near the Ein Bubin spring where a terrorist bomb killed 17-year-old Rina Shnerb last Friday, and injured her father, Rabbi Eitan Shnerb, as well as 19-year-old Dvir Shnerb. The new neighborhood will include approximately 300 new housing units, according to the plans drawn up by the Prime Minister’s Office. Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to “deepen” Israel’s roots in the area as a response to the attack. “We will deepen our roots and strike at our enemies. We will continue to strengthen and develop settlement.” Earlier on Monday, Israeli security forces captured the terrorists responsible for the deadly terror attack. 3. 'WE FEEL LIKE OUTSIDERS IN OUR OWN HOME' by Arutz Sheva Staff In the Gilboa Regional Council in northern Israel, 11 girls are waiting with anticipation to start the new school year - but they may not be able to. These girls spent over six wonderful years at their local Chabad school, Chabad Avital, but next year they may have no class, since not enough girls are registered. Their next-best option is the Chabad school in Nazareth Illit, but the Regional Council will not offer any assistance to help the girls to get to school safely. Instead, the Regional Council offered two solutions: Go to Ulpanat Tzvia, a private school located in Afula that does follow the same value system that the girls have learned up until now. Nine girls from the Regional Council learn there, and they enjoy a free bus to and from school. Or, take public transportation. With the lack of adequate public transportation in the Regional Council, this would mean that eleven-year-old girls would need to leave their homes at 6:30a.m. and return home at 7:15p.m. It also doesn't guarantee the girls will arrive on time in the morning. Concerned parents also noted that the bus the girls would take is the same bus which brings Palestinian Authority Arab workers into Israel at the Gilboa crossing - the closest crossing to Jenin, which is "the suicide bomber capital of the world." Last year, a few girls were able to get a ride with a special education bus that happened to travel the same route. This year, however, the Regional Council will not allow that option, and even if it did, it would not be possible for all 11 girls. According to parents, the Regional Council has no problem offering free buses to students who wish to learn at Ohel Meir, a religious public school in Afula, even though there is already a religious public school - Chabad Avital - in the area. "Even if we are only 1% of the population, we deserve 1% of the budget, but we get nothing..." one mother said. "We like were we live, but on paper it's sounds atrocious, our local Chabad school is second class, our children can't continue the education they start with, we have mikvahs that are underfunded and we have synagogues being threatened to be demolished, I won't even start on zero funding for any cultural events. "I really hate to say it, but our Regional Council does not support the religious residents. We are made to feel outsiders in our own home that we pay taxes on." In a Monday meeting with the parents, the Regional Council said there is nothing they can do about the situation. The Gilboa Regional Council did not return comment when contacted by Arutz Sheva. 4. NADLER HITS TLAIB, OMAR OVER CARTOON BY ANTI-SEMITIC ARTIST by Josefin Dolsten, JTA Rep. Jerry Nadler criticized fellow Democrats Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib for sharing a cartoon that shows President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu covering their mouths. Omar, D-Minn., and Tlaib, D-Mich., were criticized for sharing it last week because the cartoonist Carlos Latuff participated in an anti-Semitic Holocaust cartoon competition sponsored by an Iranian newspaper in 2006. Nadler, the House Judiciary Committee chairman from New York, grouped Omar and Tlaib’s move to share the cartoon alongside Trump’s recent comments about Jewish disloyalty. “The growing anti-Semitism in our political dialogue is repugnant. @realdonaldtrump’s comments about disloyalty are a vicious and dangerous anti-Semitic trope. And the Carlos Latuff cartoon forwarded by @RepRashida and @Ilhan can surely be read for its vile underlying message,” Nadler tweeted. The president said on Tuesday that Jews who vote for Democrats show “either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.” In the cartoon Tlaib and Omar shared, both men are wearing blue suits and in between their outstretched arms is a Star of David. Taken as a whole, that pattern resembles the Israeli flag. The congresswomen shared the cartoon after Israel announced it had banned them from entering the country on a planned visit due to their public support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting the Jewish state. Under Israeli law, BDS supporters can be prevented from entering the country. 5. THESE ARE THE TERRORISTS WHO WERE ELIMINATED IN SYRIA by Ido Ben Porat The IDF on Monday morning unveiled new details about two of the terrorists who were eliminated in Syria while trying to carry out a drone attack planned and led by Qassem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The first operative killed is Hasan Yousif Zbib from Nabatieh in Lebanon, born in 1996. The second operative killed is Yasir Ahmad Dahir from the Lebanese village of Blida, born in 1997. The operatives stayed in Iran many times over the past few years. As part of their stay, they underwent training through the Quds Force in operating unmanned aerial vehicles and killer drones. The IDF posted photos depicting one of their flights to Iran via "Mahan Air", for training purposes. The two operated during the last few weeks as part of the Shiite militias, under the command of the Quds Force, in order to carry out the drone attack against Israeli targets. Photo: IDF Spokesperson's Unit On Sunday, Soleimani threatened Israel on Twitter in response to the thwarting of the Iranian drone attack. “These insane operations will surely be the last steps of the Zionist regime,” he wrote. Also on Sunday, the IDF released footage from an attempted drone attack by Iranian-linked terrorists in southern Syria. In the video, Iranian Quds Force members can be seen carrying one of the drones from the failed attack from its planned launch site adjacent to the Syrian village of Arneh. IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi said on Sunday that Israel held Soleimani personally responsible for the planned attack on northern Israel over the weekend, adding that the attack would have included multiple unmanned warplanes against multiple targets in Israel. 6. 8. 'TERRORISTS WERE HIDING IN VILLA WITH A POOL' by Arutz Sheva Staff Israel's military intelligence chief said Sunday afternoon that the IDF had thwarted a drone attack by Iranian proxies on Israel, thanks to a "substantial intelligence effort", adding that the attack was to have involved multiple “killer drones”. "Tonight, thanks to a substantial intelligence effort, an Iranian attack was thwarted and harm to Israel was prevented," said the Head of the Intelligence Directorate, Maj. Gen. Tamir Heyman, Sunday afternoon. "Iran's proxies attempted in the past few days to launch killer drones at Israeli territory. An intelligence effort exposed the preparations of the force lead by Soleimani, in an Iranian structure near Damascus and made possible the thwarting of the attack. The Quds Force is continuing its efforts to destabilize the region. We are continuing our effort to stop the Quds Force’s attempts to harm Israel and her citizens.” Heyman also noted that the terrorists behind the planned attack had been hiding inside a luxurious villa with a swimming pool in Aqraba, the Syrian town where the Iranian forces were operating. The statement came after Israel claimed responsibility for a series of strikes on Iranian and Iranian-linked targets in the town of Aqraba, southeast of Damascus, where the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force maintained facilities used to prepare for planned attacks on Israel. Late Saturday night the IDF reported that it had carried out the attacks on the Iranian facilities in Aqraba in order to thwart a planned attack by Iranian-backed drone units on northern Israel. Map showing site of foiled drone attack IDF spokesperson The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor group said Sunday that five people had been killed in the airstrikes, including at least one Iranian official and two Hezbollah terrorists. "The Israeli raids targeting Iranian and Hezbollah posts... in the southeast of Damascus killed at least three people -- two from Hezbollah and a third who was Iranian," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said. The Lebanese-based and Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist organization claimed that two unmanned Israeli aircraft were shot down over Beirut Saturday night. While the Israeli government and military have not commented on the claim, some experts have suggested the downed drones may have been Iranian, not Israeli.
